He's still around, and a session man extraordinaire in Tennesee... Long ago he wanted thinner strings for his Telecaster so he put banjo strings on so that he could bend notes easier. Then he went to Ernie Ball and suggested lighter gauge strings for guitars....Thank YOU James!

For those who don't know,James Burton/Guitarist went on to play for many of the Greatest Musical acts of my lifetime, just one of them being with ELVIS.
I have to wonder how many 5, 6, 7, 8 year old kids picked up a guitar because of the great James Burton's blistering licks? I can sure hear Carl Wilson in there.
James Burton is 78 today.I've read all the comments here and no one said a bad word about James-good on all of you!!!!!!!These guys rivaled Elvis in the '50's.

"From Wikipedia:"Believe What You Say" is a song written by Dorsey Burnette and Johnny Burnette and performed by Ricky Nelson. I think the studio musicians on the recording included both Joe Osborn (came out to LA from Shreveport, LA with Burton) on bass and Earl Palmer on drums.
The song was rushed out without the Jordanaires singing background. That version is excellent too!! 1981 Rick recorded Believe What You Say for his album Playing To Win. It's excellent!!
