What a great band and Ricky was as good as you get ! Humble brilliant songwriter . Much loved and still loved . I'm glad his family carried on as great musicians in their own right ! 👍❤️🎸🎼🎼🥁🎹
@@danielskogen9926 : I totally agree with you Daniel. There have been a few really nasty anti-Nelson remarks that I have received & I was just interested to understand why people can get so hostile towards someone whose real popularity was around 60s years ago. Actually my favorite Rock n' Roll performer during the late 50's was Chuck Berry. But I also enjoyed Elvis, Fats Domino, Buddy Holly & Little Richard. But I also enjoyed Rickey Nelson. I remember seeing a documentary that appeared on pre-cable tv Brooklyn, N.Y. in the early 1980s that showed that Rickey not only could sing but he was a good guitarist & a fine piano player. Everyone has their own taste & I respect that even if I disagree with their opinion. Thanks for clarifying your comment. Stay healthy!✌🤗
THATS MY UNCLE ON DRUMS!!! I've been playin for over 10 years, but ill never be as solid as him. Im the beater in the family i guess... im so excited i found video of him playing with Rick! I can actually back up to all buddys now that hes better than their uncles at drummin. HA! extremely proud. i would give anything to go back in time and switch places with him. actually get payed to do what i love, while playing with one of the biggest act around. thnx for the upload!!!
How cool is that?! Love his drumming! Look at him go! What’s his name? I’m looking up who played the drums for TSCB, they had a lot of drummers. Such a great band! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼😊. They were smoking playing so well! ♥️
This is outstanding. About the same time, I saw Rick at Knott's Berry Farm in So Cal. A nice venue and he kicked ass. If he were alive today at 73, I know he could still get it done!
He was shy but like many performers transforms to stage presence. It’s true David was the outgoing one. He life was not the idyllic scene portrayed on Ozzie & Harriet. They were real people with real problems. They were a close knit family. Sam, Rick‘a youngest commented that he wished his Uncle Dave took more interest in being there for him after Rick’s death.
Well, it may have been hard with him having 5 kids & the Harmon’s having custody & Dave watching out for his mother, as well. Still...it was sad for Sam...all the goings on.
I don't personally like that lead guitar sound or style...but I'll ask my friend DK,if he knows who the picker is? Now,DK,you're not QUITE as good as James, but you're much better than the guy on THIS vid.!
Bobby Neal was Nelson sideman for around 5, who died with Nelson in the plane crash 1985. The great James Burton himself praised Neals guitar style some years back in an interview, I can remember. But there´s is no doubt, that Nelson and Burton got a great partnership for so many years!
On l aime pour toujours, il a une voix magnifique, sensuelle, il est beau, humble, ❤❤❤❤bonjour de France🇫🇷🇫🇷🗼🗼
What they don't have today. Good looks with REAL TALENT!
I do believe that that is the most the Tonight Show ever rocked in the history of the show.
I was fortunate to see Rick perform in a small club in San Luis Obispo just a few months before he died. Great performer. Beautiful man.
He was an amazing performer and drop dead gorgeous.
Sam has the same mannerisms and looks just like Rick.
That's the truth
Yes & The whole band kicked ass!
The whole Nelson family has been blessed with good looks. Rick was a special performer. Miss him.
@@maddyhayes617 YES I TOTALLY agree ! Sam reminds me of his dad so much.
We love you Ricky so much ❤️ dear
Thanks from Italy
This, boys and girls, is rock and roll.
You are right! The best!❤💖😀
We miss you, Ricky (Rick). 37 years, and you left us far too soon. The music business could sorely use you right now.
Rick could rock like no other!!! Sooooo much fun to watch on TV, but attending his concerts were amazing! Great memories y'all!
We believe everything good thing about you. Real talent.

I watched every week to see Ricky and James burton. This is a great band. Great rendition. Sad that he died.
Ricky Nelson was a super star and I wish he hadn't left this old world when he did.
SICKENING LOSS FOR EVERYONE JUST TRAGIC.
So much talent that came to an end too soon. I feel that Rickey's talents were unappreciated.
Elvis was a big reason!
@@danielskogen9926: Can you clarify your statement.
@@josephlemko3027 I just meant that Elvis was big at the same time maybe took away a lot of the appreciation from Rick, I don't know, maybe I'm wrong!

Wow! Would it have been in any way challenging to play on Ed Shaughnessy's drum kit instead of his own? Or can any top drummer do that easily?
Doug is awesome!!!!
This song just gets better with age!
Still a great looking guy, and a rock star. Loved him and his music.
no words to describe him and all his band just sensational stillbtoday
I was lucky enough to see him 5 times.🎸🎸🎸

This was fabulous! Love it! What an amazing band the SCB was! Amazingly talented! All of them! ♥️🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Is that the King of The Rock-A-Billy guitar, Mr James Burton ???? ------------methinks it is ! From '58, this is rock & roll !
No. Bobby Neal played guitar on this version from 1981. James Burton played on the original from 1958.
Very very nice

Stone canyon band
MeganC is right. Very talented and drop dead gorgeous.
No one like James Burton, the original lead guitar on this song! -------He was King of Rock-A-Billy ! ----------------------WolfSky9
James still is.
But Bobby Neil was sensational too! Watch him play with such ease! Amazing
@@tn2mich he really was! Amazing! Rick always had great musicians in the bands with whom he played!
My dad playing lead guitar
Wow was he a hell of a guitar player. I’m so sorry for your loss.💔

@@cynthiaennis3107 I tended to think he was hoping for a respite from the Harmon family and he loved Uncle David. He got lost for a while in shuffle.
DK's just emailed me that the guitarist is Bob Neale, his pickin' improved for the 1985 vid...but still no match for James OR DK!
Tonight show or Letterman 1981?
