It shows how society slipped and slid it's way down to the gutter. Standards and morals changed. Shows like this were made by White people for White people.
I can remember watching TV with our baby sitter who just loved Ricky Nelson singing Travelin' Man at the end of the show. At 6 years old I just had no idea what the big deal was. About ten years later, she visited our family with her younger 15 year-old sister, and I got it.
@@KennyG_420 cause Ozzie was very controlling , he thought Laurie and her family were hillbillies and he wanted Ricky to marry someone from a "good" family like the Harmons
While they make a good looking couple, you have to remember that Rick was 17 and Lorrie only 15 when they were dating. The odds of a sucessful, long term relationship would have been against them.
My wife and I were 16 when we met and 17 when we married, 47 years later and we're still happily married. We were a good looking couple, not so much today
I believe I remember Lorrie....Didn't she have a brother, Larry, who was a great guitarist and singer on the Country Western shows back in the day? Lorrie also sang with him.....
I read Harriet didn’t approve and put an end to it, which may explain Lorrie impulsively running off with a man twice her age. Wish they’d been left alone to try. I hear such pain in Ricky’s later songs. And then there’s the way he died. So sad.
@@loreewills17 after this he wrote Don’t Leave Me This Way. He did a great job with that song! I’m sure his heart was broken from finding out she married another guy & had no idea.

Lorrie smiling during this whole performance 😀
❤
Gorgeous couple.
Growing on Black and White TV. It was great to hear and see Ricky Nelson sing and play
Those were the days of ambition and hope ❤ I’m so old, I used to be black and white 🖖👀
My little sister use to sing this song when she was about 4 years old in the early 60's
I like the duet...they go well together. Ricky was very tallented... he loved to sing and we all loved to listen
Awesome!
No swearing. No gun violence. No gangs. No 'N' word this or that. No drugs. No sex or rape. No child abuse. Just pure musical talent.
Those tawdry things were behind the scene stuff I'm sure.
it’s a TV show. Ozzie and Harriet largely avoided those topics. But they sure seem to be on your mind gramps.
Yea, I know.
I wonder how this show even made it.
It shows how society slipped and slid it's way down to the gutter. Standards and morals changed. Shows like this were made by White people for White people.
Lorrie Collins, RIP beautiful. My

Ricky's cover of Travelin' Man was the last record I listened to before going to grade school at St Bart's in San Mateo.
Great performance of an old classic! Thanks for the clip.
WOW WOW WOW I NEVER HEARD OF THIS DUO SONG OR PRETTY LORRIE
You should check out Larry and Lorrie when they were kids they were called the Collins Kids and can they Rock
SHE HAS A VERY BEAUTIFUL VOICE
Ricky was a handsome lad.
Yes, to the day he died.
She was a beauty.
RIP LORRIE COLLINS❤
Beautiful couple, wish they Married, Ricky might still be living. Love this song.
Судьбу не обманешь.....к сожалению😢🙏🙏
Ricky Nelson died on December 31, 1985 due to plane crash. He was 45 years old when he died.
I just love seeing them sing this duet! Their fondness for each other shows! ♥️🌹🌿 Loved them all in The 3 Bettys! Rick, Lorrie & Larry!
Comme ils sont trop beaux tous les deux, Ricky a l air tellement amoureux, ❤❤❤
Memories!
That was a good show. I wish Ricky was still with us
If he was - He'd be 84 years old ! (and maybe not such a heartthrob)
Ricky and Lorrie were two good lookin' people!
They surely made a great couple! ♥️
Never seen this before. Wow. Great performance.
Back when kids tried to look good and had manners. Fortunately ,there are still some out there today !
Thank you for sharing this!
RIP Lorrie Collins
And Rick too...
На сегодня уже и Ларри с ними 😢🙏🙏
Imeline duett!
Lorrie Collins was a Rock-A-Billy Queen! Too bad these two didn't stay together!
I think the same thing.
Ozzie broke it up
@@Sunmoon-gj9gywhy Ozzie didn’t like her? I read that Ricky wanted to make her a regular on the show too, but Ozzie said no to that too.

Lorrie too! RIP, both 💕😬
I'm pretty sure they were both holding back a bit, for TV in 1958...
WHAT A SPECIAL TIME IN THE WORLD , HOLSOM CLEAN CUT YOUNG PEOPLE !!!!!!!!!

Now they should have done that song much faster, after all she’s a Rockabilly hall of Famer and Ricky’s a rock star.
Maybe they slowed it down for the show. 🤷🏻♀️
@@cynthiaennis3107 No they just just started it out dragging.
Rick’s idol was Carl Perkins, the King of Rockabilly.

Why Ozzie didn’t like her? Bad influence for his boys?

When America was civilized.
Exact. Maintenant les USA sont devenus une drôle de contrée.
This is a TV show. You think this is what America was in the fifties? Get a history book and have someone read aloud to you.
@@gigiadam1777I live in the USA and I’m good.
@@EdKazO-Vision I don’t need a history book. I lived it!
And they have a perfect tight vocal arrangement & harmonies - and this is the first time they met?
Isn’t it strange to see young kids that don’t look like thugs and actually act like they have some common sense, which most did, back then.
Because we didn't have our mummies running after us all the time. We were told to take responsibility for our actions
I sure wish things were still that way. What a better time.
It's wonderful.
Youre absolutely right so nice to see !!

There was talk for a brief time that Lorrie and Ricky would marry.
Until she ran off with Johnny Cash's road manager.

Wow, the only version of this song I'd ever heard was Elvis' and jeez who knew the same song sang by two different people could make it so different.
The McGuire sisters do a good rendition of Just Because.
You should hear a polka version!

What they should have done is have little Larry Collins on this episode as well to really spice things up.......
This song had legs. Elvis recorded it, too.

Old Johnny Horton…
Elvis did that song at Sun.
