Very underrated. Have done a lot of research and learned new things about him that I didn't know before. Somebody needs to do a movie about this very talented and mysterious guy.
Him and others were all taken for granted. There was a new sensation every week back then. Looking back it's pretty incredible the amount of talent that came from that generation. Especially when you see just how in short supply it is nowadays. I don't think people realize just how influential music is in a society. It's almost subliminal the way it affects people, good or bad as we see today in the rise in violence and disrespect of women and law enforcement, sadly it was a passing time that may never be able to rise up again.
The great thing about Rick was that every week he'd come into your home. He was just like one of your school friends who had a cool gig. Couldn't wait for those Thursday nights down in Key West. Great memories!
+Fathima Hussain Not actually. What I mean is that he'd sing on The Ozzie and Harriet Show. That was the show he'd been in since he was a kid. With the power house that Elvis was and Dione , Buddy Holly, Chubby Checkers, James Chandler, Sam Cook, Chuck Berry and many others of the time Ricky j doesn’t try to mimick them but had his own slow delivery that was calming and unique .
