I did because I never got online until a year ago. I found out a lot about them. And sad to say their both gone now. She was married to Ricky Nelson at one time. Or she was going out with him. I can't believe they were not recognized by millions. Because I think they were great. Even though I'm a hardcore rocker. But I love old country music. My first album was Okie from Muskogee. I seen Merl at one of the casinos in NY. He came out with blue sweatpants tucked inside his cowboy boots. With A wrinkled up flannel. Him and Johnny Cash were always my favorites. I love the Merl tune. I think I'll just stay here and drink. I got everything from him and Johnny. I'm even got some of my buddies into those two.✌️👍

No, it wasn't! They were right on time in their time. That statement is hardly ever true. If they had popped up in the 60s, they would have been laughed at. But maybe Jimmy Page was inspired by Larry and his double-necked Gibson. They seeded so other things could come later. They were very popular but did county fairs and such. That's how it was then. Larry's still with us; Lorrie passed away in 2018. As for the guitar, that was a gift from his mentor, Joe Maphis, who had a similar double-neck.
The only thing that really went awry was Lorrie marrying at the age of 17...to Johnny Cash's manager who was in his mid 30s.
However, Larry went through adolescence without more than the usual drama and went to college to study law. Even though he was successful at his law studies, he returned to music and became a songwriter and record producer.

Charlie Collins was the house mandolin player for the Grand Ole Opry in the 70’s. He used to come into the music store I worked in and would meet up with Norman Blake and John Hartford for impromptu jams all the time. He was great!

I used to see these kids on a small market TV station from Yorkton,Saskatchewan in the early 1960, though the shows were obviously from the 1950's. I believe it might have been hosted by Tex Ritter. I liked 'em then, and even more now I've had a chance to see them as an adult. Great talent.
