    In a car that he openly admitted didnt suit his driving style, that is God given raw talent right there. Shame he never kept going in F1 he would have been a world champion. To beat Kimi at Spa in the fastest car at both drivers at their peak....other performances aside this was one of the greatest quali laps ever in F1 and imho cements his legendary status.

    • @Lovecars1218

      He was also a difficult character to be honest. Not easy to handle. And he also didn’t had the consistency to be a proper contender for the championship. In 2003 where he had the opportunity to beat Schumacher, he disappeared in the last races and even got beaten by his teammate.
      JPM was like RSC: a fabulous driver on some occasions but also a pretty mediocre driver on other days. Talent yes, consistency no

      Was 14 at that time. I can still remember it somewhat. I always had an excitement in my body before the quali or race. No comparison to today. Even if there were some boring races back then, that was real Formula 1. If you saw these cars live.. it made your day. Then people say you have to move with the time blah blah. What should you look forward to today? On cars weighing 1000kg that can only overtake with drs. On radio messages. Drivers who can only choose one line through all the sausage curbs. On the next street circuit or on even more zoomed cameras because the sponsors are still not visible well enough. Or the great v6 sound. Idk. Maybe some races aren't that bad but today F1 is all about money.

    • @janiikavalko6223
      @janiikavalko6223 7 лет назад +25

      Because they're ancient tech and with this modern engine formula you could extract 1500bhp if wanted, but those WW2 V10 engines you can't do much but listen that yawnin energy wasting pitch sound.

    • @JoshuaKill

      Hybrid-turbos are cutting edge and electric motors. BTW those batteries are cutting edge and very light compared to ordinary BEV-vehicles batteries jos yes, they're cutting edge, oh and not to mention direct injection with jet prechamber ignition..

    • @JoshuaKill
      @JoshuaKill 7 лет назад +51

      The cars are 112 kilos heavier than they should be. They get marginally better fuel mileage than n/a engines. Plus, they are the worst sounding engines in f1 history, definitely the quietest. They fly them around the world using a half dozen jumbo jets, yet are concerned about saving 1.2mpg, the six days a month they are on track. I'm all about newer/greener technologies, but adding them to increase the show/spectacle should be the driving force. F1 is a fuel burning, heart pumping entertainment sport. The former heads of F1/FOM have been too politically motivated and hybrid cars are the new peace corps-mobile. If they truly wanted to conserve fuel while improving the show, they should allow fully active aerodynamics.

    • @janiikavalko6223
      @janiikavalko6223 7 лет назад +5

      What do you mean by 112 kilos heavier? They're fastest car than ever so weight doesn't matter even if they weight 2 tons. They use 1/3 less fuel than before so you're entirely bogus on this. Worst sounding F1 engines are BMW 4cyl turbos, quiet doesn't mean worse.
      They flew using half dozen jumbo jets in V10 era also so what's the point? They race record amount of races this year so you're wrong on six days.
      The show/spectacle is best than ever if you look the overtaking amounts compared to 2000's, 90's or 80's.
      Active aerodynamics would not help at overtaking at all. You should watch Formula 1 some times to find out that nothing what you said is correct.

It's a great shame that his F1 stint ended prematurely as car reliability certainly did him no favours at all, but the times his car did finish races, his fearless passing manoeuvres were legendary. This is so much better than watching Redbull borefest today with fake "drive to survive" zoomer friendly product plus SUV sized cars and vacuum cleaner engines. At least with WEC hypercar division you still get the sound!

      He had more fuel onboard than JPM and was not much off the pole position time. That's why fuel corrected he would have been 3-4 tenths up.

    The view from the front wing through the former Bus-stop chicane was worth the video. the sound of the v10s was a bonus. Can we get a front wing view from La Source through Radillion?
