      Totally agree. JPM was one of best drivers never to win a world title. But when looking across all the different series hes raced in i think hes the most complete racer we've ever seen. He was lightning quick whatever he drove

      Unfortunately according to him, he got bored of formula 1, and then his career in that category was over, it would have been fantastic that he followed, in Colombia we were very excited to have a Colombian in the highest category of motorsport

      I loved watching him race, despite being slightly bitter towards him. I was 12 years old when Villeneuve won in 97... So to my young mind I always thought this guy took his seat at Williams. I didn't understand what actually happened until I was much older and looked into it and realized there was a couple years in between those events lol.

      @@torres_leider1466 F1 devious politics killed his passion to race there. I believe you can grasp what went on during his short career in F1, all the bullishit since he stood foot there. It's very, very sad as during his short stayed JPM showed to the world it was the best that happened to F1. He's one of those real racing drivers that you see in a life time.       @@thomasbennett712 There was a gap, but then reliability was a major factor back then. One way to score points is to last the course (sometimes it works, sometimes not).
      Points were only awarded for top 6 finishers, that may be why the gap is large from the top 3 to the midfield and the rest.

    When it comes to pure speed, definitely one of if not the best. 2001 Spa out qualifying his teammate by 1 second and Michael Schumacher by 2.6 seconds is just mega

      @@everybodygoesdown8033 I think new fans dont understand that sometimes you just have to save the tyres and fuel for more favourable conditions to push. Traffic and pit strategies rely on it. Its quite pea brained to think that a race is only won through fast laps on every lap. Also its better than spinning about too.

      @@jraybay I honestly don't get Hockenheim 2003. Everyone crashed, and he had the fastest car. Why is that on here over Brazil 2004, where he passed several drivers, including Kimi, after going wheel-to-wheel in the pits and down into turn 3. That was arguably his best drive after Brazil 2001.

    My Favourite Driver to ever race in F1. Montaya was one of the only drivers to take the fight to Schumacher. He was so aggressive and a real racer. F1 was never the same after Montaya left. The days of actual racing came to an end a few years after.

      IKR, was thinking about the incident with Villeneuve where he saw him, turned away, realised he couldn’t let him past and turned in on him. Michael was a great driver but often put his rivals in positions where the choices were yield or have a crash.

      No doubt and Of course more wins, that could had been but when you're Robbed by the maFIA creating obstacles from L, R and center, Fiddlerrai was one Team for one car only, and car reliability narrowed his chances and ultimately his early retirement from F1. This not only for him but for any real racing driver.

    I could say that Montoya is among the 10 best drivers in history without titles: Fast, brave, risky ( The modern Gilles Villeneuve) I think he lacked more reliability in his cars: the 2003 season for example.

    That move he made on Michael in Brazil 2001, shocked the Motorsport community.
    Hakkinen and Schumacher was a brilliant rivalry - but it was SUPER clean. Very rarely did those two every touch.
    So to see someone some blatantly disregard Michael's status and go for it was awe-inspiring at the time.
    Brazil 2004 should have been on this list though.

      @@joejohnnys I'm a massive Schumacher fan but that day Schumacher literally hit Montoya. Montoya left room for Michael but Michael hit him anyway. It was Michael's fault 100% and he should have that drive through. My opinion, Montoya was robbed then.

    Everybody praises Hakkinen as the biggest rival of Michael Schumacher but for me, the truly exciting was the battle Michael-Montoya.
    Juan Pablo was a mad dog, utterly brilliant at times.

    The best moments of Formula 1 since Senna were with Montoya onboard against Schumacher/ Alonso/Raikkonen.. then new age of Hamilton came but with Montoya was an unique and emotional inspiring age, he turned on so many young enthusiasts and young drivers into motorsport, thank you Montoya for bringing this to Formula one and to motor sport, it still needs more like this, you are one of the legends in Formula 1 you are pretty big! UNIQUE

    Honestly I can swear I have memories from my childhood of JPM being a F1 champion, because I still can remember his style, aggression and victories.
    Sadly it was just a false dream, but there is nobody that has never been a world champion to deserve more than JPM to be one.

    Montoya vs Andretti Michigan. Look it up. The Eurosport telecast of those final laps is far more exciting. One of the best wheel to wheel battles in Indycar.

    I loved Montoya but the most amazing thing I remember wasn't in F1, it was when he caught a 200mph+ slide in Indycar. Superhuman reaction speed.

    Twice thanks to Sir. Frank Williams not only, therefore, for having brought Montoya to F1 but, above all, for having honored the sport, even at the expense of successes and earnings, leaving the drivers free to do what they want and must do, that is, to race and try always to win. Sir. Frank Williams, in order to face the competition, did not fall into the pathetic, low and unworthy game of the first and second driving which includes worker drivers who, by contract, appear to be little more than extras. Honoring sport it is obvious that, for those who remember and know those years, Juan Pablo Montoya faced an extremely unequal condition, always difficult to sustain and manage and that it had nothing to do with sport. But, for those who see the depth of things, in their essence, all this was the best of the best, what a sight! Montoya even came very close to the title in 2003 and this cannot help but reflect on the fabric and strength of this unrepeatable champion and on the noble and luminous path that has been indelibly traced in the universal memory. Montoya and F. Williams were well aware of everything and the greatest satisfaction would obviously have been the title, something in which, considering Montoya's brilliant talent, F. Williams, despite the situation, concretely believed. Well, dear Sir Frank Williams You have won, indeed if you have won, for all of us sportsmen and attentive observers of things, Montoya, Williams and sport have triumphed and nothing matters that it does not appear in the annals. It is told and will be told, written and will be written, from generation to generation and, in the chapter of universal history dedicated to Formula one and in the one dedicated to the philosophy of sport, it is obvious that, with regard to those years, the first place is and deservedly will be that of Frank Williams and Juan Pablo Montoya.
