During the 1700s, it was the African tribes who were capturing and enslaving blacks, and then selling by the millions to the Europeans. This minor detail Haley deliberately left out of the Roots story.
this is a great interview and the latest in life I've ever seen Haley interview. I enjoyed watching the author's perspective of the unfolding of the book to the world. I am looking for my own family now because of watching "Roots" and "Queen" growing up.
