Something weird happened. I took my xpro1 on a hike in Nevada with my wife and it ‘died’. Three months later, it sparked back to life. I decided to play with it and I am so glad I didn’t give up on it. It’s my favorite camera that I have and I’ll have it forever.
I've owned this camera for years. It is always set for 1:1 monochrome. When I take it out, I know how its going to perform. Your list of downsides are also what I like about it. It's a considered process making an image
Hi there, Il liked your "review" a lot. Especially @5' (approximatly) when you talk about the back command dial. Mine was quite efficient at the time but since a couple of years it doesn't function properly either (hell on earth actually, really). I first thougth that I broke it in some ways and was tryin' to find an official Fuji repair center where I live, Paris France. Thank you for sharing your thougth about that back button; I'm still using the 27mm and would never get rid of it but your comments bring some peace to me and I wont be looking for any repair center now. That X pro 1 is so much more to me, I hope it would never fall down.
I bought it on eBay! I’m actually selling ig now since I no longer have the XPro1 but still have the grip to reach out to me on Instagram @mattjacobsphotovideo if you’re interested

I'm doing the sensor gen thing as well 😁 X100 - X-Pro1 - X-E2 - X-T2, I'm still undecided if I should keep X100V or X-Pro3 as a X-Trans IV camera .. Despite all it's shortcomings I'd call the X-Pro1 my favourite camera of them all..
I have an X-E1 and an X-T1 at home and I didn't really found that tehre is that big of a difference between the X-Trans 1 and X-Trans 2 sensors. I mean they are very close in terms of specifications and color processing. The X-Trans II only has much better AF, and sometimes lower noise at high ISOs, otherwise, pretty similar. That sucks that there haven't been any X-Pro cameras with the X-Trans 2, they jumped straight to the X-Trans 3 witht eh X-Pro 2.
I never had the focusing problems. It's probably because I've never used an automatic lens on it. Why? Because I dnt own 1 😂 .I've been building a vintage lens collection for past few years and I dnt see myself going automatic. When I 1st got it I was told not to push the ISO pass 800. Because the images would be trash. You knw listening to RUclipsrs. Let me tell ya pushed it pass 800 and fell in love. The grain from the camera is amazing. Before it became popular again I had a few photographer look down on me for using it. What they dnt knw is that this camera have landed me in 2 magazines and damn near placing in a national competition. I have the xt1, Sony a7ii and Sony a7iii but the xpro1 is my favorite camera. You should try the meike 35mm f1.7 manual lens for your xpro1. It's extremely sharp! I'm not too big on sharpness but the f1.7 comes in handy.
Wow your comment is so timely. Just received a popular and slightly rare vintage auto Yashinon 5cm f/2 to shoot on my X-Pro1!! I’ll also be using the m42 mount I bought with it to try out some of my grandmas old lenses. Subscribe and stay tuned! Thanks for watching :)
I have used it but combo but unfortunately no longer own an XPro1. Worked great together. I would take a look at the new Sigma lenses in the Fuji lineup cause I’ve heard they’re very good
I don’t own the 14mm f/2.8 but when I use the X-Pro1 for landscapes I find that I wish it had more dynamic range and “pushability” in the shadows. If you can I say go for X-Pro2 if you’re in love with the look
Back a year ago I got this bad boy with the same lens yours came with for around $330 on eBay. Ended up selling the zoom lens for around $75. Rocking it with a 28mm for the past couple months.
Good video. The rear dial switch being unresponsive is not uncommon. I have two X-Pro1 cameras, and one of them the rear dial is a right pain to use, the other is not. Interestingly I was using only manual lenses until recently, but have gravitated back to the original Fujinon lenses. -this is more because I love using the OVF more, and the original lenses work better in this regard. The 18mm in particular I love. Lens hunting isn't so bad... you just have to work slower.
The X-T1 has the X Trans 2 sensor and X Processor 2 - it’s much snappier with faster autofocus and it has more features overall. I would recommend the X-T1 over the X Pro 1 unless you specifically want the X Trans 1 sensor or are ok with or want slower and more deliberate camera
To be honest in the short time I had an XT1 I never shot JPEGs I always shoot RAW. I have an XE2 now which has the same sensor maybe I could shoot some jpegs and make a video about that.

I had the problem with the back dial as well. I solved using contact cleaning spray. Everything works perfectly now.
Applied to the outside and turning the knob?
@@MattJacobs Yes, I disconnected lens, battery and SD. Then I sprayed from outside and waited for 2/3 minutes.
That worked for me as well 👍🏾
I do have the same problem with the back dial too.
I have the same issue. Thanks Marco I'll try contact spray.
Shooting an X-Pro1 completely in monochrome, w/ a $75 Meike 25mm 1.8 and I love it !!! Great images I'm getting, whole experience is awesome.
I got an xpro1 and it came with a 7art 25mm and wow its amazing !
Btw im sub 684. Isee your picken them up pretty quick !

Oh and one more thing please, where did you get THAT grip ?? ;)

If you combine this with 35mm 1.2 lens from 7 artisans, it's exactly like a 50mm f2 on a full frame camera
Use a good fast sd card and a fujicron f2 lens auto white balance, auto iso and auto dr and this gives it an excellent speed boost to the autofocus.
Hi Matt, what’s the make of that grip, I’d like to buy one.

"with images sample" on the next level.... just 2 images i see
Hi, to fix the dial use a dry contact cleaner spray (dry!)

Quite the collection! And I know I just can’t stop using it
I would keep the X-Pro3 if I were you I think

Can You Show Us Some Shots From Using The XPro 1 With Old Vintage Lenses

Have you tried the xpro 1 with the viltrox 56-1.4 for Fuji would be nice to see this combination tested.
I have used it but combo but unfortunately no longer own an XPro1. Worked great together. I would take a look at the new Sigma lenses in the Fuji lineup cause I’ve heard they’re very good
Good video 👍
Wanna know how well Xpro1 performs with landscapes, particularly with super sharp xf14/f2.8

I see. I have a XT 1 which was blessed by my wife
Does XT1 has that filmic look to Jpegs?
To be honest in the short time I had an XT1 I never shot JPEGs I always shoot RAW. I have an XE2 now which has the same sensor maybe I could shoot some jpegs and make a video about that.
5:07 thanks for talking about the back dial. I thought mine was a one off case but it seems not.
Your xpro has an issue with the back button.Dial works perfectly on all 3 copy's that I use.
Hm good to know
Matt have you ever tried the X100 original ?
No I havent
@@MattJacobs ill send you one. If you want to review it. Its a special camera. Just like the xpro1
That would be very cool to try… message me on Instagram @mattjacobsphotovideo
@@MattJacobs ok tonight
Is that Krispey Cream at 0:14 ?
No hahaha
I use manual lenses with this
1.23 million dots is super low screen resolution? Have you ever used Sony camera's ,if yes that is what you can call low resolution 900k.
One could say bad and worse… lol neither is exactly high resolution
