Nah, in episode one they hint the Rita would be killed by someone, they just hadn’t introduced Trinity yet. Dexter grabs her leg near her femoral artery where she is cut. This was the season Dexter resolves to be a family man like Trinity never could be, but he actually can’t because he couldn’t stop his family from suffering the repercussions of his actions as a serial killer. He should have let Arthur go and turned him in, and gone on his Honeymoon. He chose to be selfish at the wrong moment. But yeah, without Rita, the show takes a nosedive, and it sucks.
God, Julie Benz was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. At the end of Angel and here is when she was at her most stunning. A shame we don't see her in movies much anymore.
Hannah Mackay was the one who he had the best chemistry with...someone he can be completely transparent with but there's something about Rita. When Dexter was with Rita he genuinely wanted to be a better person, a man with a sense of purpose, with her he saw something more in him that he thought he never had, something other than the "dark passenger". May she rest in peace 🕊️.
I thought his relationship with Hannah felt forced. With Rita, they already a prior history together before the events of the show so their relationship felt much more natural and we see it building up as the show went on. Dexter falls head over heels for Hannah within like a few episodes, inspite of her murdering several innocent people as an adult and nearly killing his sister.
Rita's relationship was necessary to showcase that one aspect that Dex can't and will never obtain, which is to be normal and a chance at a normal life

Nah it didn’t really only the last season was bad. Rita’s death showed Dexter the life he chose was wrong thinking he always has everything under control. Every villain even took something away from him but he never stops it just shows his dark passenger will always win
They should have kept her in the show at least for a couple more seasons. They could have let Dexter catch Trinity trying to kill Rita, maybe he does an initial slice but is interrupted as Dexter storms in and kills him. Rita and Trinity's blood spreads out and Harrison is shown screaming. Rita hears Trinity saying something criminally revealing about Dexter but then passes out. As Rita recovers the next season she pieces together things but is afraid of losing Dexter like she did Paul in prison. She asks Dexter for a divorce, but there is still tension between them that returns... and so on.
“First you say it was impulse, but then you stole evidence….” Well, the hitting him with the frying pan was the impulsive part, after that it was finding a way to clean up the mess. Also….not hard to find out how to cook drugs and shoot them up, or how much to give him. Especially for a forensic expert.
I started watching Dexter a few weeks ago after seeing so many clips on youtube shorts. Unfortunately I was spoiled on both Rita and Doakes's death. But still their deaths pissed me off 😂
I had this love-hate towards Rita but she's definitely the only thing that made him stable. Every other woman he was with made him risk exposing himself... maybe except Lumen. Lumen could have been like Rita and Hannah combo but sucks that she walked away after her demons left her.
I loved Rita... but man was she naive... However, I loved her character growth from this damaged abused woman to a confident mother of three... When she told Dexter.. "I've raised two children on my own, I have no problem raising a third" I was like "YOU GO RITA" Left Dexter shook!! I would've loved instead of Rita dying, she left and divorced Dexter... Then in later seasons circled back around when Dexter realized his feelings for Rita and what he'd lost because he couldn't connect emotionally... But.... By that time it's too late, Rita is married to another man. Her death was sooo shocking, I still get goose bumps when I watch that ep... It still hits me in the gut.. Like I don't know what's about to happen!!
@@navyseal1689 Why not? Rita was a relationship type of person. She would have gotten remarried eventually. Building a family with her husband... Dexter was her third marriage.. @@jamillajohnson6108 good point. I prefer an ending where Dexter confesses to Rita about everything. Knowing Dexter's secret would eat at her everyday if she didn't do anything about it...
He didn't cheat on Rita! Never got that part. It was too soon, but technically they were broken up when he had sex with Laila (is that her name?) But he is so socially awkward that he didn't even pursue that line of thinking....
@@memeymajesty9237 that is true but Layla kissed him, righ? Any other man would have run away sooner, but with Dexter it is always difficult 'cause he doesn't see women the same way other men do. So it seems he was being completely naive about the whole thing. But maybe having sex right after breaking up is considered cheating, who knows
Wish you had the scene when he gives her the pink slip to the van and says they mean alot to him.... great scene he actually doesn't seem emotionless with her sometimes, saddest thing was rita dying, if Dexter Resurrected happens she should be the character in his head like Harry was and how Deb was in new blood, her talking to him as the BHB would be interesting yea?
Best relationship of the series by far, the other girls Dexter was with were such awful compared to Rita She and the kids made Dexter's character much better. Without them the show declined hard and became boring and even Dexter as a character got worse. They made him more human!
She was a nice contrast to Dexter's dark personality and life. She was largely pure and innocent, it was an interesting dynamic. Really wish they didn't kill her off.
Rita and the family made the show in a lot of ways, but by god did I find a lot of her character’s behavior with Dexter annoying. Especially their breakup period.
Michael C. Hall portrays Dexter unbelievably well, coming off pretty much always as very childlike in nature and only with an adult exterior. That's why I find it in comparison hard to find him attractive, but holy FUCK when he went to punch out and threaten the neighbor after Rita confessed to kissing him...
rita was another character fell victim to the show runner, her charcter could of brought so much potenial to the show. Kinda of reminds me of the cut throat bish from House MD
To blend with society norms he meets the perfect girl in Rita.. physically & mentally abused by her ex, she is the perfect match for Dexter. Someone as damaged as much he is! Oh Dexter
Rita is attracted to domestic abusers, deadbeat guys, or serial killers. She’s a terrible judge of character and it ultimately killed due to knowing Dexter. She’s a tragic character. She deserved a nice guy who didn’t risk her safety because of a messed up code.

Rita: “How did you know how to cook the heroine? How did you know what dose to give a big guy like Paul?”
Dexter: “……Google.”
That poor heroine didn't deserve to be cooked like that. She probably never saw it coming.
"You filled my dark soul with light!"
9:12 I don't have an addiction but, why can't all women be so supportive like her?
I know right!
that propose was heart melting
“First you say it was impulse, but then you stole evidence….”
Well, the hitting him with the frying pan was the impulsive part, after that it was finding a way to clean up the mess. Also….not hard to find out how to cook drugs and shoot them up, or how much to give him. Especially for a forensic expert.
sociopath
right? "how much to give him" lmfao like as if junkies are using beakers and pipettes to get precise measurements
Rita’s death was the most terrible moment, after the death of dexter’s mother in atrocious circumstances, and these children born in blood
This show sucked the moment Rita died they didn’t have to do that & it would’ve been better if she found out about Dexter than just killing her off.
Rita was always kind of annoying and she had run its course as far as a storyline goes
@@NolanHawkeyeAnthonyShe was kept in shadow. Of course she will question Dexter's action and disappearance. Its logical and reasonable writing
Rita was a nearly perfect model woman.
Dexter being extremely good at conveying real human emotions and interactions will always be funny to me
Fix Dexter New Blood ending please
Fix all dexter endings
(FADE)
@@NotIfICU1st_ fade away
Cody really loved him so did Rita
0:45 total girl next door energy.
Is Dexter ever coming back to Prime Video ???
I started watching Dexter a few weeks ago after seeing so many clips on youtube shorts. Unfortunately I was spoiled on both Rita and Doakes's death. But still their deaths pissed me off 😂
Rita’s death and Harrison I sitting in her blood just like when dex was a baby broke my heart man omg
That was when I he show took it too far
Such a good actor this Rita.
I had my moments of PDA but not at a restaurant 😂 and not like this 0:28
Dexter really is a bay harbour rizzler
I had this love-hate towards Rita but she's definitely the only thing that made him stable. Every other woman he was with made him risk exposing himself... maybe except Lumen. Lumen could have been like Rita and Hannah combo but sucks that she walked away after her demons left her.
10:40 one of the best ending of episode ..
Pleaseeee bring it back to Netflix
Just pirate it my man
@@hethen5846 That's illegal my man
It's on netflix
Good plot but no need for Rita to marry another man though.
@@navyseal1689 Why not? Rita was a relationship type of person. She would have gotten remarried eventually. Building a family with her husband... Dexter was her third marriage.. She was married before Paul.. It was the one lie/secret she ever had, that Dexter found out about. But Dexter never said anything to her, because of his own secret.
@@jamillajohnson6108 good point. I prefer an ending where Dexter confesses to Rita about everything. Like what made him, what his father taught him, his victims were bad guys who deserved it before saying goodbye and turning himself to police. Rita eventually understand but still end with not a happy ending where Dexter got capital punishment for his killings
@@navyseal1689 Knowing Rita, she would feel so guilty about Dexter's "lifestyle" would turn him in. I don't doubt Rita would call the cops on him eventually.. The guilt would eat her up... She's not like Deb that see's murder everyday.. Rita is a mother, who went through the worst types of relationships, just trying to raise her children...
He couldn't bring himself to lie to her. He already kissed Lila before he and Rita broke up and he slept with her right afterwards.
That felt like the kinda death they just added in randomly because of a contract dispute with the actress
Here after watching the season finale ;(
Best relationship of the series by far, the other girls Dexter was with were such awful compared to Rita
She and the kids made Dexter's character much better. Without them the show declined hard and became boring and even Dexter as a character got worse. They made him more human!
Man I hated Rita just being in the show. Until the end of season 4. Then I realized how important she was.
She was a nice contrast to Dexter's dark personality and life. She was largely pure and innocent, it was an interesting dynamic. Really wish they didn't kill her off.
Dexter's murder technique is like a Tantric of murders.
It’s all sad, but Dexter should never involved Rita in his life. His hobby was literally to hunt other killers, someday u get the wrong one
Bro Rita was my favorite character. I miss her
Grow sticks of love. That is probably the most funniest way the compared kid i've ever heard
Glow
Paul is played by Mark Pellegrino who is also Lucifer in Supernatural and Joe in Mulholland Drive
Are you an addict
........................ um yea, i giess thats better than what i actually do. Yes i am an addict.
Rita is so beautiful
Why did they kill her off, never see a duo this mismatched and so much in common u can tell he wasn't the same after her
God this death. Pain.....nothing but pain...
Omg this xhit was crazy 😭❤
Rita and the family made the show in a lot of ways, but by god did I find a lot of her character’s behavior with Dexter annoying. Especially their breakup period.
he's so cute I cant stand it
Rita is very beautiful ❤️😍
The show died with Rita imo
Her kids kind of got written out of the story, when they were such an important part of the earlier seasons, it’s a shame
After her dead, the show made no sense anymore
It could've been the end
To blend with society norms he meets the perfect girl in Rita.. physically & mentally abused by her ex, she is the perfect match for Dexter. Someone as damaged as much he is! Oh Dexter
I stopped watching the show for a little when Rita died.
If the show kept her alive she probably would have kept Dexter away from killing and would have been the happy ending
Один из лучших сериалов, каких я когда либо видел!
Rita is attracted to domestic abusers, deadbeat guys, or serial killers. She’s a terrible judge of character and it ultimately killed due to knowing Dexter. She’s a tragic character. She deserved a nice guy who didn’t risk her safety because of a messed up code.
This is worse then when Glenn died in twd im so mad rn
Well well well..
I have never watched Dexter. How did she die, by her own hand? And why did she die?
No she was killed unfortunately by another crazy one
Trinity killed her to get back at Dexter.
Watch Season 1-4 you won't regret it
The trinity killer murdered her to get revenge over Dexter for ruining his life, or atleast that's what he thought.
"Todas las mujeres de la fiesta quieren bailar conmigo" that same music sounds when arthur was driving in his mustang so happy, going way to kill rita o maybe after killing her
