I have six Peninsular Cooters. They keep me laughing; so cute. A lot of work, but I have only had them 16 months and will probably turn them loose at two years. I found them in the street; they were about to get flattened by a garbage truck. They are not all growing at the same rate. The crazy things watch television from their aquarium. It's funny.........

I wouldn’t recommend giving food outside of the water, as turtles don’t produce saliva and need the water to swallow it properly. They seemed smart enough to stuff the food into their mouths and then jump into the water, but still, it isn’t a very good idea because they can choke on it if they don’t. Many have also mentioned the need for a tank upgrade, which I totally agree on. In a couple years, you would need like a mini pond to house all three of them properly. Especially because female red-eared sliders can grow up to 12 inches in length, or about 30 centimeters. Other than that, it was very cool to see them grow up! Each of of them were very cute.

Its totally okay to give them food outside of the water! In the wild, in natural habitat they ofter go outside of the water to “hunt” dont small insects and stuff they like! The bring them back to the river and eat them!

I really enjoyed watching your turtles grow up. I just got my two river cooters Thelma and Louise about 6 weeks ago. They have started to grow and their markings on their bellies are starting to fade. Thanks for posting this video, now l know what to expect with my two little friends 🙂

These turtle breed are amazing! Just got 3 for me and my kids to raise together. One month in and they know who you are and when you're going to feed them. They swim right up to you looking for some yummies.

Cute turtles. Where did you buy the land basking area?

With those PVC baskers, drill holes in the top corners so that it lets the air out and you don't need rocks to keep them down.

Needles to say, that these tanks are to small for three turtles!

They are so cute! I'm so glad that they survived despite the loss of the others. How are your turtles doing? They all seemed so happy, but I hope you would consider a tank upgrade by now, or perhaps you did already since this video was uploaded last March. It seems that the shell size and number of your turtle in the tank-to-water ratio need to be more than what you have for now. It also looks like you have a red-ear slider there besides Cooter. Overall, I liked watching their growth over the year.

Tank is way too small. At least 1 gallon per inch of shell for 1, you have to multiply by 3.
I have 2 RES that gave me a bunch of babies. I have 6, 2" turtles in a 20-gallon tank. Its already maxed out.

Mine is small too but I have a southern painted turtle and they don’t get as big. When taking to vet I was told that she was smaller then normal because she needed a larger habitat. Some species of turtle growth can get stunted if the ratio of tank to turtle isn’t much larger. He started these turtles off in a large habitat then moved them to one that’s too small once they got big. But that’s the reason they got so big. It’s because their habitat was big. Look into getting a larger tank. I upgrade mine every 4-6 months but most people just start theirs with a big tank. Seems easier that way lol
