thank you sir !I have successful replaced my keys twice based on your video! however some place are hard to see what you are doing.. still glad you posted it !
On a side note, the ES6 uses the same keys used since the DX7. It's the same for the ES7, original Motif 6/7, EX5, W series, SY series and DX series, and any keyboard with Yamaha FS keybed like most of the 90's till mid 2000's Korg's. The keys only changed on the Motif XS onwards till present
Hi, i just want to make an alert to anyone either posting or watching these repair videos, as people keep doing these procedures incorrectly and most of the times end up damaging their synths instead if fixing them.Guys, for the love of God, and once and for all, If you are doing Any kind of repair that's even remotely keybed related on these Yamaha FS type keybeds, the very very first thing you need to do (seriously), after you've taken the bottom plate off to open the keyboard, is to disconnect the two cables running from the key contact board to the motherboard, take all the screws holding the contact board off, and carefully put the contact board asside safely out if the way on a flat surface laying on its back. Then you can disassemble everything you need to disassemble, whether it's keys or anything else. That contact board is the most fragile part of the whole synth, the metal contacts bend and can break easily. In any circumstance you sould work on this keyboards with this board attached to it. I've serviced these boards dozens of times successfully, so I know what I'm talking about. Don't take shortcuts on this thing, do it properly and you will have no problems after you fix it.Hope it helps anyone. Cheers :-)
+Nossa Teca thanks for the tip! If only I had known sooner :( Yes, now my Motif has even fewer functioning keys. Question, do you think it is worth it to try to fix the contact board on one's own?
I just did this on my es7. I dropped it and broke a D key. It still played, but it was annoying and hanging out of socket, so I followed your instructions and replaced the key with one I ordered online. It now looks and feels good, but that D key is now completely silent. How can I fix this?
+Ron Wojcik yes! It's probably a bent electrical contact, the thing that actually produces the sound. I found this online at BustedGear.com. Search in Google "yamaha FS Keybed contacts bustedgear.com" and it should be the 1st and/or 2nd link.
Pls can you make a video on a problem that occur on my motif 8,it happen when you on the motif and go to category ,it we bring out different voice,so when i select any voice and back to main screen by it self he changed the voice
I need some help: My motif es7 was accidentally defaulted to the factory specs. is there any way I can get my sounds back??? any help would be greatly appreciated
You know what you’re doing, but your camera is not on target and I can’t see what you’re doing as your describing how to disconnect important connections inside the keyboard
In addition to my comment below, and in reply to the guys that fixed keys and it went silent after fixing, it went silent because you've bent the metal contact below the key, because you didn't removed that board out of the way when working on the keybed. I've seen this mistake dozens of times all over the place. Guys if you want to fix things yourself don't take shortcuts and di things properly ;-)
no one can see what your pointing at. did you not look at it before you put it up. it don't he;p if they can't see it. take this one down and make a new one, it might get you some view's.
Thanks Michael Mathews this helped me 100% I just about gave up searching the internet on how to do this. 🎶
So did you end up doing it? I’m intimidated after watching this video.

WOW how did you learn how to take this nightmare apart? Wow. I don’t think I’m going to fix the key on mine.

Is this the same for a motif 6
You are not holding the camera so that the items to which you are referring can be seen.
Thanks for the video! Does anyone know if the ES6 will take the same replacement keys as the ES7?
I do believe there the same
