I've watched many repair vids for a lot of different stuff, and you are by far the best. I've never seen anyone explain in such great detail. I edon't even have this keyboard, but wanted to know how it works. Thank you for showing teaching me how to replace these keys.
Hey TJ, thanks for this. Our church has one of these with a stuck key and you saved us! I never could have figured this out by myself. It would have been hours of frustration. Thanks!!

Thank you ! I removed the front cover, instead of moving the keybed up (so risking to damage the cable). Nevertheless, I am most grateful for your video - I have successfully switched two keys (as you did) and am now waiting for a replacement key - which should arrive tomorrow. Thanks again.
Thanks for this great video. Oddly enough, my B key was also the one that was sticking. While I did order a new key, I think the main issue was that the lubricant was getting tacky, causing a sluggish response. I removed the factory lubricant and added DuPont Krytox Grease, which did the trick. Krytox is pricey, but a lot cheaper than a trip to an authorized tech.
This was incredible. I don't use the MO8 much these days, but when I'd move it, different keys would be stuck; one of the little persons in the home thought it was a good idea to slide something between some of the keys. a small jiggle would make the keyboard function fine, but today, I just got sick of it. I was able to safely extract a penny and a quarter sized washer...I had to remove about 12 keys total to find them both, but this was a great tutorial. Thanks for posting. Ted Twis
I've had a similar problem with my Motif 8 for years. It's my D5 that's sticking, tho... Thanks for this video. After watching you a few more times, I believe I can FINALLY take care of that problem. Seriously, Thanks for posting this vid, Bruh!!!
Dropping in to say thanks! Dropped my Yamaha a few years ago; some keys got stuck... luckily I didn’t need to replace any just “unlock” them after a few jammed. Thanks!!
I have a Casio Privia I was trying to get some keys out of. I think this is what I needed. I’ll try it tonight. Thank you so much man. I need to try n fix some dead keys.
I agree, this was great, the thing about you is, you understand what most & how people think when you do this you can explain and give directions to anything and most people can follow, thanks again for giving so much of your self your truely blessed!
So what was wrong with the key you didn't show us anything that was causing the sticking? The old key looked like the second key to me can you clarify please and thanks so much for the video you did a great job on it.
Thank you so much for this vid! I dropped a key in between my keys and it went into the bed of the keys. This was exactly what I needed. Keep small things away from this board. heh
Thank you very much. Your instructions are very clear. Excellent job! I did remove the front cover in order to clear the way for pulling out the key instead of doing your way though. I took the key out and I could feel a little sticky on both sides of the key.I used paper towel with a little of water to wipe on the sides of the key until I could feel clean/smooth on both sides.I put the same key back and it works like new. Thanks again.
Also, to all concerned, if you remove the front panel under the keys you don't have to disconnect the keyboard from the bottom plate to remove the keys. They will just slide forward. It's 2 screws on the sides and about 8 under the front lip.
Qn to this fix... so what was wrong with the initial key that it had to be switch.. coz i dont think if its sticking it has to do with the key rather its getting caught... or was this just a key replacement nothing wrong with the KB
Thank you for the video. I had the same problem. The very same key as well :) In my case the problem was the lubricant. It was old, tacky and caused the slow release. Also I first removed the front plate, so i didn't have to unscrew the keyboard plate, in order to click those keys out..
Hi TJ could you please explain to me why the key was stuck in the 1st place that would help me dermine if i need to replace or just fix the key. Thamks so much in advance
Thankyou, this was a very helpful video. As some other people have mentioned, it seems that the lubricant gets somewhat gummy, and a cleaning suffices to repair. Also I agree with another reply that it is much easier to remove the lower front panel ( I have the M08) instead of jockeying the keyboard rail. Korg used the Clavinova keyboard in the SGproX models, so this info applies as well.
I’ve got. My Motiv 8 taken apart thanks for your instructions. I sure can put it back together but One thing I’m having problems with is flat spring that flew out and the new key and old key both seem intact but don’t sound solid rage shape of a tuning fork profile
Now that is how you do an instructional video!!!!! Question, I have key 88 (last on on the right, sorry, not a musician, just trying to help a friend) not sitting right on my Yamaha Motif S8. It plays sound, but it is not inline with the other keys. Any idea how to fix this?
Thank you for a fantastic, well explained, assume nothing approach to this video. I have a question though: Will this same technique work for the M06? - thanks again :)
Ok. I just want to point out that these instructions are very good for the model you are doing but are no where close for the motif xs8. You do have to take the sides off but then there’s more screws on top that will allow you to lift the top back being careful of the 3 sets of connection wires. But luckily I noticed after 10 yrs there was so much dust and a strip of grimy crap from every time I wiped the keys. So after cleaning and blowing it out with air, the key didn’t stick anymore. Actually all the keys have so much more action now. But if I had to change one of the keys, you almost have to take the whole thing apart to work on it. But anyway problem solved for now. Thanks.
Hello. I have MOXF6, and need to replace the keys. I wonder , are the key arrangements, and replacing procedure the same as the keyboards that you are showing? Also, should some lubricant has to be used under the new keys when you are putting the new keys ? Thanks
Which buttons? The ones that get used a lot? Tact switches wear out eventually and need to be replaced. Also , if something was accidently spilled in the keyboard panel - bad news.
@@michaelrosen7559 I tore into it deeper and found the rubber mats with dirt on them. Also searched and found out how to remove and clean the keys. Had to replace some of the worn panel buttons by ordering them from a source in Texas. The ones that were painful were the actual switch buttons that needed to be unsoldered from the board and replaced. Thanks for noticing and replying.
Does this apply to MO6 as well ? My left most C key sounds really loud. I read from the Web that this is caused by one of the two contacts for this C key does not make contact. Meaning only one contact is made instead of two, and that foul the keyboard in thinking that the key was hit hard ( = FAST) causing the sound to be really loud, even when I press it sligjhtly.
It appeared when I had mine apart that the black keys come off basically the same way, but I think you'll have to remove the neighboring white keys to get the black key off. Hope it helps!
Sorry Jeff, i'm have not tested on that model yet. But Yamaha has been pretty good with standardizing much of this as of the last few years, so i wouldn't be surprised if its similar to what i've described. Maybe someone else can reply that knows.
Great video brother. Clear, concise, and straightforward. Outstanding.
Straight to the point with no rambling about random stuff in your house. Thanks

Thank you so much for posting this. I have used your video at least 3 times over the years on my mo8.
Crazy awesome video, man! This could possibly be the BEST YT video ever. No BS, straight ahead, and save me a ton of cake!

Thanks for this, easy to follow and fix two keys that became too closely aquainted to a flight case!

Yup! Like you, i was hesitant to crack it open at first. But now that you know what to expect, it should be a piece of cake!
This has to be the best instructional video I've ever seen! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! Excellent video! I somehow found a guitar pick beneath the key that wasn't working. You saved me a trip to the repair guy :)

Very helpful. This also worked for my Yamaha CP33. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you so much for this vid! I dropped a key in between my keys and it went into the bed of the keys. This was exactly what I needed. Keep small things away from this board. heh
Excellent video I have an S90 ES and only diff was that two screws gets the key front off so you don't need to move whole keyboard backwards
Wow, you are really good at explaining things.
HA! Thank you!!! I teach preschoolers every day, so I get a lot of practice. LOL.

Extremelly well made, very comprehemsive. My congratulations for that I will try it this week ennd. A big big thumb up.
Thank you for this! I'll be performing surgery on my MO8 today.

Excellent video, brother. None of the extra bs many videos have.
Hi TJ could you please explain to me why the key was stuck in the 1st place that would help me dermine if i need to replace or just fix the key. Thamks so much in advance
Just what I was needing! Thank you!!
Hi TJ, how is the key broken and why? Great video.
Thanks Bro this video helped me a lot. My M08 is a joy to play again.
Thorough explanation. Thanks so much bro. God bless
Thank you for this. Great work.
This totally helped me. Thanks for being a champ and posting.
I can't believe you posted this amazing video man!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
No problem, thanks for watching!
This was very helpful. Thank you.
Great teaching 👍🏼. Thank you

SOrry, i can't help you. I never ran across any springs, so not sure of its function or location.
Thanks so much...this was extremely helpful!
Are you not able to do something to the one key itself to keep it from sticking?
Excellent video! Thank you!
where do you get replacement keys if broken?
Syntaur on the web they sell keyboard parts like crazy
EXCELLENT job! Perfect Instructions. Thanks for the Video!
Worked like a charm - THANK you!

Hella Helpful!
thanks you so much! just in case did you know where I can get a metal cover for synthesizer yamaha m8? mine has oxidation
Thank you for a fantastic, well explained, assume nothing approach to this video. I have a question though: Will this same technique work for the M06? - thanks again :)
Thanks for this video .👍👍👍👍👍
Helpful Video! Thanks!
do you still have to remove all the screws that allow you to push all the keys back if you are only replacing a black key (Bb)
Ok. I just want to point out that these instructions are very good for the model you are doing but are no where close for the motif xs8. thank you for this.
I have a key that sounds like it's out of tune on a MoX8, do you think the key needs replacing ?
Do you have a video that is mox8 key replaced?
Question. Can the "hammers" be removed?
hi there can you describe how to remove key from psr2000 for cleaning purpose and lose keys thanks
Great job!
Hello. I have MOXF6, and need to replace the keys. I wonder , are the key arrangements, and replacing procedure the same as the keyboards that you are showing? Also, should some lubricant has to be used under the new keys when you are putting the new keys ? Thanks
Oddly enough it’s my b that’s sticking too. What causes this? Because my e used to do the same thing but now it doesn’t.
Thanks for that practical lesson. My buttons are starting to get sticky. Vacuuming didn't help any tips?
Which buttons? The ones that get used a lot? Tact switches wear out eventually and need to be replaced. Also , if something was accidently spilled in the keyboard panel - bad news.

Great video
The XS7 you listed in the title has unweighted keys, it appears to be a whole different mechanism.
The keyboard does not need to shift forward. Instead a cover can be dismounted and the key kan be easily slided out.
Does this apply to MO6 as well ? My left most C key sounds really loud. I read from the Web that this is caused by one of the two contacts for this C key does not make contact. Replace the contact strips it will fix that issue… Ive replaced them on my moxf8 and it fixed the problem…
Does this apply to the Mo6 as well. I need to clean my contact strip and don't wanna pay AGAIN
I was given a keyboard but some of the keys are stuck together, how do I clean them, I think the keyboard was not used for a very long time
Does this work for Motif 6?
is the same on a motif 6
You saved me $$
× Thx!
How can i fix my motif es8. When i turn on my keyboard it doesn't have display on my LCD
Most likely a failed LCD and needs replacing. Does everything else work?
Does this work for the MM8?
Thank you so much!
Oh! I have a Motif XF8...do the instructions work for that too?
ruclips.net/video/8ftsizF6-do/видео.html
Crazy how easy this is. If you play keyboard, you shouldn't pay another dime to repair keys.
Does this work with the Yamaha MO6?
Ebony Jones I have the same question as I have the Motif 6 and the MO6
Is a Casio Privia basically the same?
Unfortunately, i dont know.
Casio keyboards are different design from Yamaha. It depends on which model you have. Casio dp's have other issues besides sticky keys
Good idea
I have yamaha psr 175 and three keys are playing in a chorus sound. Like as if im playing chords on the one key. I rebooted but nthng is happenin
That is usually a key sensor issue or it could be the main board
GREAT! thanks!!
thanks
Where can i buy the keys for Yamaha motif 8?
No clue, sorry.
eBay!
Full Compass. I've successfully replaced three on my Motif 8. www.fullcompass.com/search.php?parent=471&search_simple=true&txtAll=motif+keys
Does anyone know how to replacea black key?
It appeared when I had mine apart that the black keys come off basically the same way, but I think you'll have to remove the neighboring white keys to get the black key off. Hope it helps!

+PianoClubHouse OK thanks man, nice vid
What about the black keys.
so...this is not a "fix broken/stuck key" video as the title says. Ok
my piano fell on top of me
Does this work for MO6 ??
