Thanks,I Just got My NEW Motif XF7WH and good old UPS aka "Useless Pieces of Shyt" Bashed in the box and dislocated a key..And with your help I reinstalled it.Thanks a Million because I truly didn't want to return it or wait to get a insurance claim..Thanks again...
Thank you very much for these videos. I had a key that wasn't broken, but rather I jammed the end of it accidentally which uprooted the key from the bed. I need to open the top to re seat the key. Luckily it wasn't broken, but it does show that these XF keys can get unseated if you whack them just at the right angle. In my case I think I lean up against it when rearranging some keyboards on top. Thanks!
Thank you, Julius! Bless you for taking the time to make this tutorial. After watching it, I immediately realized just how barbaric I have behaved replacing my pitch wheel pot (or, in my case, guitar "whammy-wheel" :-P), considering I've done it three(3) times now. I'm like Schroeder from Peanuts, who's got a cold-storage of pianos for when the mean ass girl bashes his to bits, only mine is a sock drawer full of pitch potentiometers from Yamaha. However, since you have pointed out the reasoning behind the "red button" on the side of the gun (i.e. the mysterious hinges on the back that seem to perform no obvious meaningful task, to the untrained eye of your garden-variety imbecile), I can now not only replace my key contact strip (heavy-handed player), but can also create and, perhaps, upload a tutorial on a CORRECT and sane method of repairing the pitch/mod wheel assembly. Kudos! (I somehow simultaneously feel both more and less intelligent, although, with more than the marginal result of having benefited from your courtesy). Additionally, on a side note, and to anyone here who's never experienced it firsthand, you are infinitely wise NOT to entrust the tools of your trade to the local repair shop, nor, in many cases, the place who sold them, unless they are certified by the manufacturer to maintenance it. That's the very reason why I've been DIY'ing it for a decade or longer, often both in-and-out of warranty. The first and last pitch pot I had replaced by the local Yamaha dealer, an $200 repair that took a month was comprised of a plastic tab broken off of God only knows what and about five inches of scotch tape doubled over, ya know...for added reinforcement. Thank you for your initiative and for taking the time to educate your fellow struggling musician. Peace be with you, my friend! Horace Hemphill
