I bought mine in 2014 but after two years with very little use and without moving it from the place I put it in my house when I bought it it started to show some very serius problems. The touch buttons with the arrows only respond to up and down but when I try to go left or right they dont respond and this has made for the last three years my recordings impossible. I even spent allá the money in order to try to plug it to my iPad so I could make my recordings using garage band App but to make things worst the Yamaha motif xf sinthezisers seem to be about the only ones that need to be configured in order to be recignized by an iPad!!!! Therefore by not being able to move left or right on my screen I was never able to get my iPad to recognize my motif. I am frustrated and very dissappointed with this sinthesizer and I wiuld not recommend it to anyone.
I've Bought the MOTIF XF because it sounded great & had FW/Cubase mode. As a synthist/VDrummer, my experience saving User presets has been Korg, Roland even Simmons & Yamaha FX racks. Simple. You save in a User bank & your sound was there until the battery died. Why I had to buy $400 memory chips so my sound edits are there in User banks after power off, is the most inexplicable idea, I never would've considered in design. Until I operated it at home, I did not know how messed up Yamaha MOTIF User banks were: I thought it was me! I bought a DVD. Time wasting, over complicated file system for USB, FW & ''optional chipset''. Yes, it's silly. Who made this dis-advance in User common sense...was not fired. My work flow was destroyed.
I find your post confusing. If you save a user patch, it's saved forever. Not sure what you mean by memory chips. If you are talking about Flash memory, that's for sample memory, not the patch settings.
I've seen some presentations before Ie: by Michel Voncken or Peter Baartmans and they both let the instrument talk. I think too much talking and too little instrument playing. Also when listening to this with window minimised it almost sounds like an instructions manual converted into an audio book. No offence just an opinion.
As much as I love Yamaha synths, I absoultly *HATE* the fact that Yamaha still will not allow us to save over presets. It's a terrible waste of patch space to have banks and banks of read-only sounds.
I prefer having the factory banks separate from the user banks. On my Blofeld I am forced to overwrite factory sounds to make a new patch. But they could have factory and user banks, and make the factory banks writable perhaps
"Bad Mister" ? Can never understand why individuals give themselves such dumb names, is it supposed to impress or increase credibility? Otherwise a very useful video.
CSMedia - The guy in the video isn't Bad Mister BTW... And too your question; Well, he could/should be called "Bad Mother Fucker." Cause honestly, if you knew him and his credentials, you'd know why he's "Bad Mister." He's a GURU when it comes to Music Production and all things Yamaha and Motif too. If you had a Motif, or hung out in the places where Motif is discussed, you'd already know this. We all have a deep respect for his knowledge and the way he explains and approaches questions and the answers he gives. A true wealth of knowledge and there's not a single answer, in regards to Motif, that he doesn't have the answer for. Then his musical prowess is in a completely different level. A MASTER musician of the highest caliber. So, I think I've covered what needed to be said, and if you ever purchase a Motif, you'll know the name and the pedigree behind it... You're welcome ✅
Nice simple intro with decent imagery. Thank you!
Great vids. Please keep up the awesome work!!! Can you post more videos focusing on DAW integration, the VST editor and pattern/song mode deep dives?
Nice tutorial, Going to check out video 2.
Yamaha Motif gives the best sound
you are a legend sir
Eagle's Eyes
please make more videos like this to help us make more use of our motif xf..
6:00 once reaching the saving procedure, should I worry the new patch replacing an existing ?
no, the presets are "permanent" which means you can't alter them. All the customized sounds will automatically routed to the user banks.
Thanks.
Simple explanation but that's what I need.
thanks for video, please explain recalling the new user edited voice saved to AO1
👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👌Many thanks for the upload now I know how the mine XF works

Cây này ra rất lâu mà sao sound vẫn hay thế nhỉ
what about the. others???//
will the alesis vortec wireless will also run in motif xf same as your demo when you plugged the vortex's dongle directly to the Kronos?
Tried it, no, it doesn´t work, but by using a cable, you can use the vortex as MIDI Controller aswell

+Mason Dixon The only time you would need to buy an add-on memory card is if you want to use custom samples...

I suggest to focus the camera on the keyboard demonstration rather than your face. Your voice can be heard either way.
Music or Biting nails :)

im planning to buy a motif xs. is $1100 a good price
+Jade Pascual For an XS that is a decent price, I've seen those going for upwards of $1500 still depending on condition.
I am surprised by people who run out. But I admit Yamaha put some sounds into a user bank, limited the number of user slots on the XF.
Michael Bauers In the age of USB connections to PC's, there is no reason at all to have any read only patches... They all should be writable...
