Can the shut-off part be pressed out of the regulator through the hole in the bottom? Like with a specially made tool? Maybe a c-clamp with a slot ground in it to hold the barrel or something. I can't get mine out and there has to be a better way then grabbing it with a pair of plyers...
You need to replace the sponge thats decades old and full of particulates from the butane they used to use. Then make sure to poke the hole to make sure its clear where the sponge goes.
@@Dingus420 I can do better than that. I can tell you how and where to get it free or under $1. Any modern disposable lighter that is adjustable (like a see through china lighter), scripto, dollar store lighters, etc have one under the flame valve that you unscrew (like what you do to make it a “crack lighter”). If you find any used empty one then its free! You just cut it to size with a hole punch or clip it smaller with nail clippers. I have probably 50 of them I’ve sourced from people and trade several empties for 1 full new one.
@@Dingus420 If its a refillable one break the plastic refill valve and grab all 3 o-rings. Adjustable refillable have 6 or 7 silicone pieces. Get all of them.
@@samuelsebald1611 You need to make a tool, if it is press fitted/adhered, take pliers and/ or fork, etc carefully to not bend it and wiggle them back and forth like scooting. Don’t twist or pull because it doesn’t end well. Scooting works way easier. Also soak in alcohol if somehow it doesn’t work.

My St. Du Pont is having a gas leak problem as well, but I don't know which model, can you help me identify my lighter model so that I don't waste money buying the wrong seal?
@@aminnasr2561 Likely your sponge is clogged and the hole is clogged up as a result. Swap it out and clear hole with a wire/mm rod like the wite from food ties.
Air leakage? Are you sure you repair lighters regularly? Air doesn’t expand or leak when enclosed in metal :). You are referring to just lubricating the seals. Yes it sometimes works well on certain seals. But rarely does it work on every seal and you still need to replace some especially ones that have materials that turn into tar after 60 years. Plus you need to swap the sponge and clear the gas hole.

I can only get mine to have a pretty small flame, even with he adjusted maxed out. Is there something I need to do to fix this?

The rubber seal of a top seal of regulation tube. This seal that stop the gas when is closed.

4分05秒,內部的关气火山口磨过,防漏效果会更好,我看没几个人懂行的。
怎么磨,知道的人我看更少呗!

To me, these techniques are all too simple. I don't need to replace the black rubber ring, it can be repaired without air leakage.
