i am using the xikar purofino high altitude formula...bought an st dupont butane can and removed the plastic tip and adapted to the xikar butane can...much better flame.
Thanks for the review. I’m wondering, can you ignite the torch without first igniting the soft flame? Just thinking about situations where it is a bit windy and difficult to get the softflame to ignite without blowing out instantly. As it would mean you cant use the torch in these situations also. Thanks for any information you can offer
I bought one of those from AliExpress and after the third use the ignition broke and I got a ball of fire in my face. No damage but some singed beard hair, just beware of those fakes.
I heard the newer ones perfect cling is made out entirely of brass unlike the older LeGrand models. If I have to buy one, I would buy the newer LeGrand. I am satisfied with my Gatsby, Ligne2 and Maxijet. All made in France baby!!
I have the laquer le grand and no ping. I wish that i have seen this video before. I also have a problem with the torch flame. It wont work alsays so i send the lighter for the waranty.

I saw a knock off Dupont Le grand goldsmith 023011, but in gold, instead of palladium, that literally rang like a bell. Chinese made. But I think the original of that model sounds the same

You can use newport gas that comes with the head adapters
Xikar Purofine in the silver canister fits this exact model perfectly with no adapter. I know because I tested it.
What color nozzle should I use? Newport.

Quite a few on AliExpress which look the same. Yeah, they are ‘fake’ and some are just homages with no ‘Dupont’ on them.

Ligne 8 was my introduction to S.T. Dupont. No ping, fairly small, but it's a dual flame for less than $500

I use Newport zero imperfection gas and it comes with adapters. One of them fits perfectly but I’ve also used without an adapter and still works 👍🏼
