I had a Dupont knock off years ago as a young man. I didn't even know what a Dupont was at the time. I always wondered why the old men in the cigar shop would all stop and watch me light my cigar (and say things like you can't hide money.) 😂 I figured they were clowning on me, being a young cigar smoker. I figured out probably about 5-6 years later what was going on. It was a very, very good knock off, (black laquor , gold top) and sounded like a perfect ping. I just bought it because I liked it,
If you haven't watched all the videos on Kirby's hunting trip to Ireland/Scotland, it's a MUST see. watch all the videos start to end. A fascinating like for sure. Also looking forward to Kirby filling up his new Walkin humidor. Fellow Texan here. 72 years old, never smoked but love the smell of a great cigar on the golf course or sporting clays range.
Beautiful, I now own the le grand dupont ligne 2 crepuscule and couldn't be more happy with my dupont choice They truly are a piece of art! Something that many people don't understand Gorgeous collection 😍
The ping tone change has more to do with the lid material/thickness than any sort of variation in the mechanism. That’s me guessing of course, with those prices it’s very possible that the mechanism is different.
Can't tell you how much I appreciate the comparison. The enameled versions of the New Le Grand are more expensive than the Diamond Head Gold and Palladium versions, which seems ironic given they have the sort-after classic ping.
My dad has the St. DuPont two ping. Then he got a job. After which Kirby pinged my dad and his line 2 x perfect ping. And man those across the room wearing those J. C. Penny Kirby digs were ready to put the fire to the Kirby like flame.
While I don't own any limited edition or with precious metals, I keep a Mega Jet in my smoking room and carry the Slim 7 with me. ST Dupont on hand feel and finish, to me is worth the price.
My interest in the sanji lighter from one piece has now grown into an obsession for these damn lighters 🤣 I just want a couple or few S.T DuPont lighters
Hi Kirby, great video. You mentioned that you have cases for all these lighters. I just went through your page on the Le Grand and didn’t see any there, is there a case for Le Grand?
I am tempting to buy ST Dupont ligne 2, anyone that already saw or have one can give me their honest opinion, if worth it or not? Also, i cant understand how these are being sold in 2nd hand for 200/400$, massive depreciation.
Kirby! Question for yall chat I have two broken tank in my ligne 2 ST DuPont vintage lighters but there’s no local repair shop in my area. Do you have any suggestions where I can get them repaired ?
By themselves, S.T. Duponts are beautiful and luxurious. But I can't imagine myself paying a 3 to 4-digit sum for a modern lighter of recent production. And by modern, I mean 1970s to the present.
And the material as well as the thickness of the lid I'd say. But yeah, it's nothing special and anyone can immitate it with no issue. There's a lighter on Amazon that goes for only 50 something dollars and sounds and looks exactly like any of the real Dupont lighters. You really are paying a few thousand dollars more for that authentic Dupont logo and the serial number really. I bought it just to see how close to the real thing it really is and I was blown away. I returned it cuz I already have a main lighter I enjoy but that made me really realize how stupid it is to shell out so much money only for that authentic drawing and numbers on the lighter.
@@IceCold100 Eric here. If you want both the blue and yellow flame in one lighter, they also have a lighter that is also coppying the Dupont's older lighter with both flames. It doesn't have the long Dupont ping but the flames are as good as the Duponts. Around only $30 It's all the same flames after all anyways. And personally never really liked attention seeking and ear pearcing Dupont ping anyways.
Seems like a jet flame only, line two would be a nice option. A more pocketable size that would be handy for folks who primarily smoke outdoors. One could always break out the long matches for a soft flame indoors.
As an owner of one of the Dupont lighters, I have to agree. Never really liked that obnoxious attention seeking spoiled little girl kinda ping from many of their lighters anyway so I have a little taimed down ping lighter as my main lighter anyways.
@@lovro1239 in the cigar shop (in Zagreb) they said if it brakes, they need to send it back to France hahah aint got time for that, i can buy every year another one and they will only get better. Hope they make fake torch dupont, that will be hit
“Liadders” is just about forgiveable, but should you ever go to the French factory perhaps learn the correct pronunciation of “objets d’art” beforehand.
Nice lighter. My bic only cost me $2.98 which saves me a total of $1,397.02 dollars that's savings you can flaunt. Lol jk jk yeah I won't all of them. 😅
that suits actually suits you well for not being a "funeral" piece, unfortunately you dont pull off many of the suites you own, they dont go well with your face, this does
Uber luxury springs from the harrowing emptiness of the aimless, anchorless soul. Wealth is elusive to the wearer. A status symbol for the spiritless halfwit. A sad commentary to a life lived wrong.
I didn't buy my ST Dupont lighter because it's a status symbol. I bought it because that Classic Ping puts a smile on my face every time. And a gentleman must be aware of when he could use a moment of happiness.
I don’t smoke, wear suits, or even have cash to spend on this stuff. But there is just something so captivating by Kirby’s content..
Same. I would never buy or wear anything this channel showcases, but I can’t stop watching.
One day my friend, one day, you will have the money, the suit and the cigar. When the time comes, you will be ready
A 10 dollar cigar and a 1 dollar lighter can be had easily and youre 90% there.

Purchased a Le Grand Cling from you and was able to pick it up in person.. First ST Dupont and it's absolutely exceptional.
A factory visit would be perfect. Really hope you can make it happen.
Excellent PING close up comparisons!
I dont even smoke ,Anything, but I own a Dupont lighter to light folks up as needed.
Excellent video!
I have the Le Grand finished in Gold/Brown. It's a stunning lighter, literally a work of art.
Thabks kirby, gonna order an ST dupont lighter with btc profits. You the real OG my guy.

The ping is neat but I definitely prefer enamel. Just beautiful to look at and hold

Where can we buy one? A website or a store?

Kirby what has been your experience with travelling overseas with lighters? Is it allowed, do they have to be empty & so on?
ive never seen this dual lighter and i have 2 st dupont. do they not sell there here in europe?
Yes, they should be available for sale in Europe. Also on KirbyAllison.com if you’re in America.

Love Kirby he speaks as if all of us are on some rooftop in Havana. Lol
Why don’t you do some of the vintage DuPont lighters

"If you will"
They need to make a slimline le grand next I feel
Down side for this is you can't travel with jet lighters. Having a $1300 lighter confiscated would be heartbreaking.
