Hi Dylan, you mentioned in one of your videos that some sellers on Etsy who provide high quality, unique products often thrive on the platform in spite of the common advice given that posting a new listing every day (etc), on your new shop is the only way to succeed. It'd be interesting to hear more of your thoughts on this - for all of the makers & creators out there who are aware that creating a high quality product of value on a daily basis is oftentimes an unrealistic goal to set.
Love the video❤️ I just started my print-on-demand journey and found Crafted Threads. They have a ton of designs and it saved me so much time. They have something in every niche. And lifetime updates too!!
Thank you for explaining the pricing on baby onesies... I spent a fair amount of time designing them for my shop with pretty much zero traction... unfortunately I will move on.
@@dylanjahraus Maybe I was being a bit dramatic ;) I just open my shop and started to upload products a few weeks ago. Since last week I changed all my titles and saw a surge in views and visits, still no sales but I am patient (100 views, 70 visits) and looking at the stats, I have no views for the onesies so I figured my prices are probably not competitive.
Ok thats great I understand where you are coming from. Once you change your SEO it can take up to 4-6 weeks to see any changes. What are your goals and are you wanting to go full time with your shop or is this more of a hobby?

Hi, loved your video. Thank you so much for taking the time to do and post this. I am having ALOT of trouble trying to figure out what products to list that will actually sell. The type of online store that I have been trying to get up and running, for quite some time, is a store that focuses on selling personalized items and gifts. as well as personalizing items that customers may already have. The problem with this is that there are endless possibilities to what I can create and advertise and i feel that having such a broads selection may not work as well as one may think. I feel having too many items may be too much. I think i may need to find my niche, which I don't know what my niche could be. I am able to produce items such as: wall décor (pictures, vinyl decals), clothing, dishware (personalized mugs, plates, tumblers, glasses, thermos' and so much more), blankets, pillows and/or pillow cases, shower curtains, towels, labels, tote bags, make up bags, outdoor decor, signs (decor, directional, picture prop for example: a picture prop sign for a 1st Day of school and including things like age, fav food or book and so on), greeting or holiday cards, Memory Boxes (graduation memory box to put cap and gown in if just one example)memorial items, personalized items for pets and more items than I can name. I even have market for personalizing bongs, rolling trays. Which I wanted to sell as a package kind of thing (bong, rolling tray, ash tray, lighter and a little, round case) Also, because it is a store composed of personal items/gifts, I can make and sell picture video slideshows for any occasion or event one may wish. For example, a picture video slideshow as a memorial, filled with photos of a passed loved one, or A graduation picture slideshow showcasing pictures from birth - graduation. With these I can add whatever music one may want, as well as text throughout the video. I also have other skills I can hone, which is creating templates or other digital files, which do not really fit into the personalized store theme. I was planning on calling my online store "Personally Yours" or "Yours Personally"., whereby I would add the name to the back of every product followed by a space where the buyer would write their name, especially if item is a gist. Basically the same idea as ending a letter with Yours Personally or Personally Yours followed my your name. It is a bit harder to explain in text, but I imagine you get the idea. However, upon further research this seems to be a very popular name. I was thinking of going with "kiss and Sell" I chose this because I am not making the items totally from scratch. I am taking an item and putting my own touches on it and/or personalizing it for someone. For instance if someone wanted a mug with a quote on it. I would buy the mug but decal/personalize it myself
Thank you so much for going over all of this!! You have really put some though into this! Have you connected with me on IG yet? I would love to talk to you more about this its just hard to have a conversation on here.

I'm a Native American artist/craftsman. I want. . to sell Native arts and crafts items, music Flutes, Pipes, prints, and other craft items on Etsy. Do you think this is a viable option? I currently sell my items at Shows. Thank you, Jack

So one of the items you showed was a notebook/planner even though you said apron. Also, I'm guessing mugs & T-shirts for the AI art. I know you said no pillows, but wouldn't that be considered bedding, or more in terms of throw pillows?
I have a question for you. Are you paying Etsy for advertisement? I have a new shop, only 31 listings ( it takes quite some time fully set up a listing ) but I honestly think your shop is not visible until you pay them to showcase your listings on people’s search
You can grow your shop organically with the right strategy in place. I would love to talk to you more about this if you do not mind reaching out to me on IG :)
I sell coding related pod items (for software engineers, programmers, medical coders, coding/decoding passionates, etc.), started with t-shirts but not getting any success. Then I thought since women are the main buyer on Etsy, maybe they'll be more inclined to buy "safer", more gift-kind like items (because with t-shirt size you never really know unless you are very close to the person), also as I scanned the keywords on everbee I've seen more demand for coding gifts, mugs, mousepads than t-shirts. So now I'm trying to create those, only started a couple of days ago. Still, I'm wondering if the niche I picked (and I picked because of my personal interests and history) has any perspective.
I would love your opinion on having a shop that just started and creating a line in that shop of clothing...... I have a lot of unique hobbies that I know people buy specific types of shirts and things for...... So would it be okay to have one shop name but under that have lines with different names? Ps I've been posting on your videos a lot LOL I'm a new shop started October 13th, and I've made 2 sales so far which I feel pretty happy with bc for the first month I did so the things I shouldn't have in chasing other people's ideas instead of just doing me
I sell fox inspired mugs ,t-shirts and pillows.Funny ,rude ,cute, personalised messages.I am new on this platform and not sure I’m on the right track,as I haven’t had any sales yet.Any advice ?🙏🏻❤️
U don’t rec POD for all kids apparel because a lot of sellers r selling it at such a low price (can’t compete)? Even if I feel like I have unique designs?
Since people can generate thousands of pieces of AI art so fast. Do you think Etsy will eventually put set up restrictions for AI art eventually and separate them from hand made art vs AI generated?
I am devastated, as a true artist I am not able to compete with ai images. My shop looks nice, I have unique mockups and even videos of the painting process and nothing helps. I have SEO optimized, can you advise something?
There is definitely some nuance! Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions. My team and I are on there a lot more frequently! instagram.com/dylanjahraus/
Thank you so much for sharing your insights. It's hard starting out, especially with so many considerations to account for. I have an Etsy shop to sell my paintings. I paint animals, abstracts, and garden/flower scenes. In the span of over a year I've tried various things (lowered prices, raised prices, offered free size upgrade), but I can't seem to make any sales. I would love to hear your opinion about art sales.
Love what you said. I sell plants on etsy my shop is successful but I would like to expand my shop into vintage etc. anything to improve my shop. I wanted to add potted tradescantia to my shop but the overhead cost is high and shipping the delegate plant take too much to pack. What would you suggest?

I am a children’s picture book author that uses AI images to illustrate my original stories. I have a stuffed animal that is my canine character and an illustration from the book on a fleece cold size blanket, what other ideas might work to broaden my product offerings? Thanks so much!

Since people can generate thousands of pieces of AI art so fast. Do you think Etsy will eventually put set up restrictions for AI art eventually and separate them from hand made art vs AI generated?
That is a really great question. I would love to talk to you more about this! Please contact me here dylanjahraus.com/contact
I am devastated, as a true artist I am not able to compete with ai images. My shop looks nice, I have unique mockups and even videos of the painting process and nothing helps. I have SEO optimized, can you advise something?
Hi Karolina, how are sales going for you?
@@dylanjahraus Hi, I don't have any sales, I would really like to have my first sale 😅
I am sorry to hear about your sales. What are your goals and are you wanting to go full time with your shop or is this more of a hobby?
And is real digital hand made artwork a way to go?
There is definitely some nuance! Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions. My team and I are on there a lot more frequently! instagram.com/dylanjahraus/
Thank you so much for sharing your insights. It's hard starting out, especially with so many considerations to account for.
I have an Etsy shop to sell my paintings. I paint animals, abstracts, and garden/flower scenes. In the span of over a year I've tried various things (lowered prices, raised prices, offered free size upgrade), but I can't seem to make any sales. I would love to hear your opinion about art sales.
Me too, I haven't done well selling art.
Feel free to DM me on instagram! We have students who have had success selling paintings so it's absolutely possible.
Love what you said. I sell plants on etsy my shop is successful but I would like to expand my shop into vintage etc. anything to improve my shop. I wanted to add potted tradescantia to my shop but the overhead cost is high and shipping the delegate plant take too much to pack. What would you suggest?
Hey! Let's chat more on this on Instagram, feel free to send me a message @DylanJahraus (mention "ETSY1" in your message).

I am a children’s picture book author that uses AI images to illustrate my original stories. I have a stuffed animal that is my canine character and an illustration from the book on a fleece cold size blanket, what other ideas might work to broaden my product offerings? Thanks so much!

Not really agree with what not to sell items. This items are selling really well though.
Just giving suggestions that is all :)
Are you referring to just AI art out all art in general?
AI Art!
"Is it okay to open a general store without a specific niche?"
I would be happy to talk to you more about this. Please reach out to me on IG and we will chat! Its @DylanJahraus you will just need to add GROWTH1 as a code in the message :)

Even before AI, wall art was absolutely not recommended.
Hi, why is that , because it is over saturated ? Or because the art lacks originality . Thanks
AI wall art is just yeaaa I cant with it 🤦♀️ also on the other items that’s why I make it all myself 💪 take out that middle man
