I was vegan for 5 years from 19-24. Then became brain washed by everyone around me including my doctor that i was "dying". The problem was is i wasnt doing it right. During this time freelee the banana girl had a big impact on me and i believe the reason why i failed and became sick was because again i didnt do it right. Fast forward i am now 28, i have become vegan again.. and this time i am doing it RIGHT. my energy is way better, my back pain caused by my herniated disc injury from last year all of my inflammation has decreased and my sleep and mood is amazing. My husband now wants to transition after getting him to watch game changers and you are what you eat on netflix. And I recommend this amazing channel to him! Thank you for everything you do!!!!!

I was vegan then vegetarian for almost six years then last year decided to eat meat again because I had health issues and was frustrated with the doctor's in my area and no nutritionists around, no helpful. So I gave in to eating meat, it's been a year. I felt slightly better but now I am having major gut issues again. I had gut issues when I wasn't eating meat too. But I've been thinking to fully go vegan. I totally understand, I feel like I didn't do it right either ( I ate vegan 90 percent of the time and I say vegetarian because I ate only cheese).
well done for 'fixing' yourself without resorting to the next faddy diet! Too many people flip flop from diet to diet without ever working out whats wrong. I was vegan for 7yrs before I started having problems. I had blood tests and tracked all my calories/nutrients for several months to find out where I was going wrong. Once I knew and could supplement I have honestly never felt better in my life (at the age of 50! LOL).

But basically depending on the day I eat oats with fruit and protein powder, lentils (seasoned how i like) with rice or potatoes, chickpea pastas/rice/quinoa. Fried tofu on a massive salad, tofu scramble, sweet potato fritters, 3-4 servings a fruit a day, roasted kale, roasted Brussel sprouts. Once a week ill have a beyond burger for a treat, i also eat sprouted grain toast, all the nut butters etc. that's usually what I have in a week. The first time i went vegan, i avoided all fat and beans. So i was always starving. I was basically only eating fruit white rice and veg. It was ALLL wrong! Avocados for the win
I was severely deficient in Vitamin D (something alot of people suffer from, whatever their diet!)@@Alyssa501 I now take vit D, omega 3, magnesium, turmeric regularly and iodine, B12 and calcium a few times a week. Although I usually hit at least 90% of my nutritional requirements from food. Alot of people think a diet has somehow failed if you supplement things but IMO it can be great to optimise your health. People have different needs and even their ability to absorb nutrients can be different. (I think Im doing it right this time because Ive lost 80Ibs in just under a year and am no longer a fatty, I actually look like someone with a healthy diet!!LOL).

If you'll be able to reheat at your friend's, you could make a smokey sweet potato chilli (with either beans, tvp or both), charred corn salsa, guacamole & soured cream (I have a good recipe) & take a couple bags of nachos or flour tortillas? Or take it middle Eastern? Houmous, baba ganoush, tabouleh, pitta/ flatbread/ veg sticks & pickles (nothing needs to be reheated there). Orrr little filled pastry bites or mini tartlets with a complementary dip. You could take those any direction you fancy; curried veg filling & mango chutney/raita; Italian veg with a mushroom pine nut dip or pesto mayo... endless possibilities! 💜

I recommend to anyone the two cookbooks. I bought them a year ago and use them frequently. I also love the muscle meal prep video. I deconstructed it and wrote down each recipe as I watched the video. The tahini dill dressing for the dinner meal is AMAZING!!! I also LOVE the soy curl recipe video and printed all those recipes. My favorite is the curry!! Yummy!!! Oh! And I also loved to pieces the vegan nachos from the comfort food videos. Thanks so much for sharing all your knowledge and recipes!! Thank you.

20hr fast window with a 4 hr eating period and I have made mad gains eating only vegetables I never liked meat so eating as a vegan is great for my life style and I feel like a beast at 39 💪🏽

I recommend to anyone the two cookbooks. I bought them a year ago and use them frequently. I also love the muscle meal prep video. I deconstructed it and wrote down each recipe as I watched the video. The tahini dill dressing for the dinner meal is AMAZING!!!
I also LOVE the soy curl recipe video and printed all those recipes. My favorite is the curry!! Yummy!!! Oh! And I also loved to pieces the vegan nachos from the comfort food videos.

I love your channel, I started to switch to a plant diet a couple days ago and your recipes/food suggestions are great. I`ll still eat the eggs and tuna I have at my house but once I run out I`ll stick to plants.

Derek, all your meals look great, that nature walk looked so refreshing, and the soup looked fantastic, especially comforting on the cold day! And if you haven't already tried it, the spice Garam Masala is also great in many soups, and/or adding a sprig of Star Anise.
You made my go-to meal in the instant pot when I'm eating plant-based. We call that "vegan mush" and it never fails.
