This is why Jodeci is my favorite band. You described it perfectly: their sound is unbelievably unique.
DeVante Swing. He was Jodeci's secret sauce.. They were already amazing, but his producing style and harmonies really set Jodeci apart. He put Timbaland, Missy Elliott, and Static Major on as part of his crew called the Swing Mob. When it comes to great producers in the 90s....DeVante Swing definitely needs to be in the conversation

Diary of a Mad Band. My favorite of all their albums! I've been a Jodeci fan since I was a teenager in the 90s & I still notice something new in the music when I listen to it. Devante is a genius. His production was before it's time. If you haven't heard it, one of my absolute favorites is My Heart Belongs to You. Check it out, I'm sure you'll love that one too♥️

This is top 10 R&B album of the 90's. Their best in my opinion. Full of slow, mid and up tempo bangers. DeVante Swing gets major props for the production. Like you said super unique and great combo of R&B with a hip hop vibe.

This was an album and a half! The hip hop aesthetic can be credited to Puff Daddy (as Diddy used to be known back then). He came up with this image for them. An R&B group looking like rappers. Complete with combat boots, baggy clothes and all.
Mr. Dalvin said he was the group’s stylist.
He did not come up with it.

Dont expect the same thing going into anyones music. Just becasue you get some examples of whst was mainstream doesnt give you a full view of what the musical landscape was like at the tjme.

You're missing out if you don't listen to Jodeci. Start with the first album and do the entire discography to see the progression. The last album decades later is not good to me though. I only liked one song.
