The 90s was the the last decade of great music - hip-hop, r&b, soul, pop
DeVante wrote and produced all of Jodeci's music/albums. He's the master mind behind all things Jodeci. It was his idea to put together this group. Dalvin has also produced/co-produced some of their songs later on in the second & third album. DeVante and Dalvin did sing they carried the background vocals but yes K-Ci & JoJo are the strong vocals and are the lead singers. And also yes K-Ci's southern accent really stood out in this performance🤣 they're from Charlotte, NC, actually a little fun fact K-Ci & JoJo are first Cousins with Fantasia, (which pretty much speaks for itself) whose also from Charlotte. Pure bred legends without even trying!! 🤌🏾🐐✨

I never knew who the HALEY SINGERS were until Fantasia mentioned HER HALEY CONNECTION (her mom). That’s how I learned Fantasia is actually the female version of K-Ci (their squall is the same). Them singing that Leaky Roof song will make you cry (WTF WAS ON PIANO, Devante❓❓❓⁉️They’ll make you wanna scream, too)😫😫😫The end is the best part where they entered a run together and he STOPPED (she coulda kept going😫). Imagine how great he would be without alcohol🤎🤎
Jodeci consisted of two sets of biological brothers.
Devante and Dalvin are brothers, and K-Ci & Jojo are brothers.
K-Ci voice is mind blowing and sangs lead and Jojo Lead the falsetto also is the lead singer Dalvin play the drums and does backup vocals just like Davante but does baratone vocals and does the entire Jodeci sound and productions.
Devante is the founder of Jodeci he is the main song writer and producer, Mr Dalvin does abit of rapping and he produced a few Jodeci songs but Devante is the main produced and the do the background vocals
Dalvin plays the drums and sing background…Devante wrote all of Jodeci songs and sings backgrounds, he plays the piano too
An example of Dalvin singing is “Fun 2nite” he raps and sings most of then backgrounds, that song is mostly him and K-Ci. “S-More” chorus/background is Mostly Dalvin. Basically their 3rd albums he does a lot more because that’s when got more control over their production and writing. He wrote and recorder all of their “Mr Dalvin remixes “ and most of them if not all are good. He was always a contributor vocally tho.
All of them are singing in this performance. K-Ci & JoJo just have stronger vocals when they perform. You got to listen closely to hear the other two. In order to hear vocally sonically sound of jodeci. Go on RUclips and type in all of their acapella performances. Jodeci is one of the only groups that I know of that did acapella version of mostly all of their major hits and non-single radio jams. In this video they are all singing. Jodeci make you feel them in their songs.
Fun Fact K-CI was the lead singer of his family Gospel group back in the 80's called Little Cedric And The Hailey Singers. Also Devante is a part of the reason we have Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Ginuwine etc While JoJo up singing all loud he was thinking of how he was going to get the next superstar on the Apollo stage lol.

Two set of brothers K-ci and JoJo and Mr.Dalvin & Devante Swing, and yes all of them growing up church they had they own gospel groups one call “Little Cedric & The Hailey Singers “ that K-ci and JoJo family quartet and “ The DonDeGrate Delegation “ that Devante Swing and Mr. Dalvin family quartet and they was form in 1989 in
Charlotte North Carolina and went to New York that same year in 89 got to Uptown Records to Andre Harrell 🙏🏾 and P.Diddy who was A&R at Uptown at the time and come out in 1991 change the persona of R&b since 91 and they discover Timberland Missy Elliott Ginuwine static major and Playa , Stevie J with Devante Swing record label call Swing Mob and later change it to the Basement Crew in mid 90s , couple facts about the legendary group Jodeci
If you ever watch this entire concert you’ll get a chance to hear Devante and Dalvin sing more (especially Dalvin). They were primarily background vocalists and the writers and producers of the group. That’s why K-Ci and JoJo sound differently (not as good) when they don’t work with Dalvin and Devante. Dalvin tbh is the unsung hero of the group.
Their first video Gotta Love is the only time they really danced. This live performance was probably the only time they danced LOL. Your commentary is spot on. Dalvin and Devante didn't sing much. You will love Lately on MTV unplugged. KCi and JoJo bounced of each other in that performance.
Lmfaooooo that part caught me off guard when K-Ci went to singing like that🤣🤣🤣 “Thankin of the thangs” 🤠 idk if he was playing or what. It might’ve been unintentional. Who knows 😂 And yes they did grow up in church. All of them did. K-CI was in a gospel group Little Cedric and the Hailey singers.

They all sing. Dalvin only sings lead on a very very small amount of songs, all coming on Thier last album besides fun 2 nite. Devante almost always sticks to background. He does sing the "don't you know part" of this song but only the recorded version.
Actually Mr Dalvin got a solo album 💿 that came out in 1999 or 2000 called medamorphic my favorite song off that album was long day
90’s is the Golden Era of Black Music…..majority of the new generation likes 90’s music…..but majority of the older generation don’t like a lot of the new music out today.
Jodeci originally formed in North Carolina.
K ci and Jojo have the strong vocals and Dalvin and Devante can sing lightly but they also do the productions of their songs
Great reaction! I've already subscribed. Your reaction had me crying with laughter. To add to the comments....The Degrate Brothers and Hailey Brothers both came from church backgrounds. The Degrate Brothers are actually preachers kids from Virginia and the Hailey brothers have a gospel background as teenagers. Please react to Mary J Blige and K-Ci and Jodeci's "If Loving You Is All that I Have To Do " It's another 90s R&B classic.
