There was one other German who managed to keep their head in the 20s: Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck
Besides having possibly the most German name in history, he was a general during WWI, serving in Africa, who consistently won battles against the British, despite always being outnumbered. At one point, Hitler asked him if he'd join the Nazis, and Lettow-Vorbeck apparently told Hitler to "go fuck yourself." When one of his colleagues was asked if this really happened, he said that Lettow-Vorbeck was actually much ruder about it.
Can't get much better than literally telling Adolf Hitler to go fuck himself.
