And yet I never heard of him, Did he only stay in Ireland??? Could've been great to of heard of him more before today, And you're right about the 60's but so much older music has that greatness about it tbh
@@David.L291 He remained in Ireland. The 1960s showband era in Ireland was very lucrative for bands like his as they toured the country almost every week, filling ballrooms with thousands of young people.
@helenaville5939 Must've been a great time and great enjoyment for the artists and fans Still a pity he didn't come this way though I wonder if there's more like him that I don't know about
@@David.L291 I was born in 1963 so by the time we were listening to music he seemed a bit "uncool". My older siblings went to his shows but we "Young ones" were more into ELO, Queen and all that when we came of age in the mid 70s. But yeah, there were a lot of great singers in Ireland back then like Brendan Bower, Red Hurley, Dickie Rock, etc. But you were blessed with your own extraordinary talent over there. It's nice that you have an interest though. Way to go! 👍💚
@helenaville5939 I was born in 77 although I'm not sure what one 😂 Seriously though I grew up with a lot of the old music, going back to the 50's era and I really liked a lot of it and different styles of music, oh I remember an Irish singer he had a song lady in blue I think it was, ha when I first heard it I thought he was Italian lol but I forgotten his name I gotten so fed up with the music nowadays though
Only just found out about him, And yet once again only know about these people after their passings, crazy!!! I can never get my head around as if they are so good etc why oh why I never hear of them when they are around And this song I just quickly clicked on and I must say it's very good
Ireland had a string of stunning cracking eurovision entries in 66, 67 & 68 starting with this one with Dickie and then Sean Dunphy in 67 and in 68 Pat McGuigan. Edit: How could I have forgotten Butch Moore in 1965 another ESC classic. ruclips.net/video/6RVo0MD9rB8/видео.html
Watched them on black and white tv. All the children sang them. Walking the streets in the rain, Come back to stay, If I could choose. What a great time to be a small kid, grest music.
@@russellwhite1581 I grew up with this guy performing in the local ballroom. He was there several times a year. As I kid, I couldn't get in to see his massive ears. So it's something of a shock.
same, I'd pay a lot to see you sing because you probably sing like a little girl and I'd laugh at it. why don't you go to Eurovision huh? go represent a country, go on..
R.I.P. Dickie, yet another star has left us.
Wonderful voice. Saw him many time. RIP. Dickie
Notwithstanding, he had a great voice . God bless you, squire !

Fabulous singer
Nc j7 Irish poet
Dickie was the biggest singer in the ball rooms in Ireland
Was this the Miami showband
The 60's had such class singers - and Dickie was up there with the best of them.

consider the rubbish we've been sending to represent us the last 10 years or so.

That was my time gootimed
Rock by name, by nature......something else.
Happy birthday to my mother
@WOODBINEXX No, he ended up in fourth place
R.I.P!
Floating across my living-room in Alan’s strong and tender arms... now he is gone, struck down by the Big C
Sorry for your loss Cristel

Rickie Dock.
He was good,

Rip dicky
did he win?
I think he came fifth.

He had a grand set of plugs here 🎃… err , I meant lugs
Johnny Logan dislikes this.....
Johnny Logan has no class
Johnny Logan is a 2-cent singer compared to Dickie
Johnny is one of my favourites, but dickie.... bruh the second Irish entry smashed just like the first, Ireland was so good in the 60s-90s
Omg his ears are MASSIVE 🙄👂
and so is your weight
How dare you , dicky had a fine set of lug’s
His height is 6' 4" what do you expect?
as was his talent. Well, he had a good ear for a song. Great singer.

Almost same tune as unchained melody.
his talent was in his satellite dish ears rather than his voice - One of Cabra's greatest deformities
stfu, i’d like to see you go up there and sing

Get up the yard , ya dirty blagard…. Lugs are a sign of great .. er, 😐 whatever
What a nasty comment. You obviously have no class, or consideration for his grieving family.
