Great video as always. Hey I was wondering if you're going to have any Hoodies available at your store soon? Also I know you read all these so I wanted to throw something out there, its a long shot but maybe you'll like the idea. I was thinking your logo with the large M, even larger X (like how you already have it) but then the REVIVAL inside one leg of the X. So basically just taking the revival part and fitting it inside the X in a different color. Then the MX could be bigger and centered on the front of the hat. For all I know you already played around with the logo like that and it didn't look good, but it sure looks good in my head. I would totally rock a hoodie or hat or bike graphics like that. Please don't think I'm saying I don't like it the way it is, I guess I just like symbols more than words on apparel. I'm probably just weird but I bet there's more weirdos like me out there. Maybe you could do a limited run variant of that logo and see if it sells, I'll be your first buyer, but you gotta sign it cuz I know your channel is gonna blow up! Thanks for reading. Love the channel!

How long do you think until all the aftermarket companies start making parts for these bikes? Mitch/Pro Circuit made a couple one-off slip-on mufflers for it. With the Chinese trying to make better low-cost bikes and copy-cat parts... I would bet you, we will see Pro Circuit, FMF, Hinson, Rekluse, Suspension companies, and others making parts for them to be competitive with the Big 7 makes. Could we see 250s & 450s in the future from SSR that will be competitive for motocross?

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  3 года назад +3

      Great question!
I have made a lot of great relations & unique connections at quite a few of the places you’ve mentioned. The industry is small & I love getting into just about anything I can. Especially now that I see how much everyone is enjoying this topic. Trust me when I say that is encouraging for anyone who may get involved, and they will. I’m all over that.
These won’t be competitive for upper level moto but could be for the average consumer with attention to tasteful mods and changes (which are all affordable almost immediately when the bike’s initial cost is factored in!) They aren’t aiming for high performance like Japanese or Austrian. They are different in that regard. That’s where we all come in & have fun tweaking, learning, teaching our kids how to wrench, etc.
Pro Circuit already has (on these bikes we rode) T6 slip on mufflers that are specific to the machine. The 250, 300, 450 and some smaller models all have a Pro Circuit exhaust option. I’m working on that too, for all of us.

William and his crew (like JR now) have always had an open ear to suggestions for improvements from all levels - your average customer to industry specialists. However it's guys like you that are the big bonus: you give your honest opinion to both the company and the would be buyers, and you provide solid solutions for shortcomings you have found. All they can do is tax the living shit out of it. Our government does not truly give 2 shits about any of the environmental stuff, it just justifies their existence as another government entity. They will however have complete control on every nuke plant, and epa won't have to worry about job security, because electric generation and storage pollution blows soy bean/ fossil fuels right out of cooling rod water.
Natural wind, solar, water, power generation will not supply demand, and lithium is a limited train wreck to mine/ recycle. Lead acid has already created large numbers of superfund sites. Can you imagine any resource they won't take from you and tax/control. They probably got some one thinking of how they can limit sunshine, so they can sell and tax it to you at same time.

Do you know if SSR has the copyright approval for copying CRF parts?? I know there's been litigation issues from Chinese copying other bike parts in the past.

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  3 года назад

      I don't believe so.
Sometimes, patents run out and a whole gang of companies will copy something. Kind of like the front brake line routing on all of the modern motocross bikes these days.
At one point that was exclusive to Honda now everyone is allowed to run it.
Another good example is the pit bike explosion maybe 10 or 15 years ago.
Not sure if you're a member all of those Honda clones, but it was a similar situation I believe with Honda's original frame for the 50, and patents. I could be wrong but that's what I remember.
I don't know exactly how patents work either, but I would imagine that if something is just different enough, it wouldn't be a problem. For example, the engine in the SSR is so much unlike the CRF in the way that it mounts into the frame, the entire lower cradle is different.
      Hopefully that's helpful!
      Thanks for watching, John

@@mxrevival Cool. The Honda clones were copyrighted through a company called Jailing from memory. I've had industry connections who brought a bunch of Asia Wing bikes to Canada, similar to the SSR. Unfortunately that company does not have permission to produce the CRF almost clones, and opens dealers up to a host of litigation issues. Cool bikes for sure man.

Hey man loving the channel! Ive been off a bike for some time and want back into it. These ssr bikes look great. Im having trouble on deciding on my size though between the 300, and 450. Im 6'5, and around 238. Im not near any so its not like i can sit on one to see. What would you recommend? Also should i wait for the 2021? If not, and i went with the 450, what performance mods could i do to get more out of it? Thanks man, and keep up the solid work. Also what is the awesome metal intro?

      Hi Corey,
Thanks for the compliments & I'm glad you dig the metal music too. 🤘 It's royalty free stuff I buy & use on RUclips (since we can't use "regular" music we like)
His channel is Jacob Lizotte *_ruclips.net/user/Thrasher726_*
Honestly, I think you'll like either bike. I enjoy that the 2020 & newer 300 is a NEW model & come well equipped. VS the 450... Older body & such/ ergonomics.
I'm about 200 pounds & the 300 moves me around well, and simple sprocket swaps can give even more low end if needed.
Pick the one you like better in the looks department & enjoy.
Also, *_I'm doing a lot of work just for the 300_* in terms of mods, and making them available on the site. I don't think that's happening anywhere else. I've already started & have some great ideas upcoming/ more RUclipss in the future as time allows too. Going to keep it up.

Have you not seen fuel injected 450s racing in person? 450s have plenty of power regardless of how big you are. The only way a 450 would be under powered was by someone so obese that they probably wouldn't even think about getting on a bike anyways. They might be a little slower depending on the weight but they have plenty of power regardless.

As far as the Zongshen engine goes, 250 is called the NC250 and the 300 is…. You guessed it…. the NC300.
They differ in literally no way other than the cylinder bore size.

'this is in addition to the Lectron carb, so what
SSR is showing you is still not as good as the Lectron?
By how much? Or are you saying the you'd need the Lectron
if you have the '20 but the lectron is not better than what comes
on the '21. In other words, the '21 will have just as much power
'stock' as the '20 with the Lectron carb?

    • @mxrevival
      @mxrevival  2 года назад

Honestly I like them both. Did a recent video with the 21 FCR (what was installed in SSR bikes in this video) carb in my 20. I really like that a lot. The 20 stock carburetor is fine for the ultra beginner in my opinion. Lectron is excellent for anyone who does not want to jet, especially an FCR carburetor. They both get the job done, but Lectron will probably be the ultimate way to go for most people on this particular bike.

@@mxrevival Ok, thanks, I'm looking for enough low
end torque to bring that front wheel up at will, the
'20 stock obviously won't do that, but I'm gathering that
the '21 will, so that's what I'll set my sights on; '21 or
'22, and keep the Lectron mod in mind for a later upgrade,
though hopefully the stock '21 and '22 will be close.
I love the overall features of this bike, as I already mentioned,
looks to be a hella value for sure. The soft suspension is
a plus at my level and genre; Cross Enduro Light lol,
I don't need full on MX suspension, and the linear power
      band is a huge plus.
I should also mention that I think the way you did that video
on the first run, where you did you're quick mods was
excellent, it was like everything you could need to know
tied altogether in one setting so we could connect the dots,
see exactly what you did and how it worked out.
I'm at a loss when it comes to jetting, the way you explained
it was great, and showing that 1 size up, pilot and main, is
a good base to work from.

I just got my 2021 300 and in general I'm pleased. However, occasionally I get the bog off idle basically, it's almost like I get a turbo-spool type delay when I come off throttle; it's not there all the time but sure is annoying when it hits, like the throttle doesn't like you sneaking up on it. Any ideas what kind of adjustment I can try to get rid of the bog? It's the same pumper carb the guy was holding so I know it can/should run right. Appreciate any suggestions from RUclips mechanics.

    • @mxrevival

Hi Mike, I'm in the process of building and testing a special Lectron to replace the FCR type in your 2021 right now 🤘
Also, I was sent the 2021 FCR carburetor and related accessories from SSR as well- so as soon as I get some free time I'm going to install it in my 300, test it and get some good settings for you guys.
Going through a hectic move at the moment but it's coming.
For now, if you're interested in learning more about your FCR type carburetor it's all about learning how the circuits jive with one another. There are several fuel circuits within an FCR that all need to work harmoniously with one another through the RPM range, to deliver a great running machine
Your symptom is typical of the leak jet and accelerator pump portion of the carburetor.
If you do a little bit of googling you will see what these look like and how they work.
Basically the accelerator pump is actuated by a metal dowel rod when you roll your throttle back. the rod pushes the accelerator pump diaphragm, which squirts fuel through a circuit in the carburetor leading directly to a very small port or jet.
If you were to remove your carburetor and look into its bore, you would see this little tiny nub sticking up, and it has a small hole pointed at the engines intake... Fuel coming through that circuit sprays out of that little guy, directly into the engine. This all happens right off the crack of the throttle.
The leak jet stands between the accelerator pump and this little sprayer (for lack of a better word). Depending on how large or small the leak jet is, you will get more or less fuel sprayed into the engine right off the crack of the throttle.
this entire circuit exists basically because four-stroke engines do not produce enough vacuum at idle to suck the fuel they need up and into the engine to keep it running. A two-stroke is able to do this for example.
Your symptom is an extremely common, and now extinct issue due to fuel injection on most bikes.
You can probably see why we are building a Lectron? 😉
Jetting is actually really fun if you are patient enough.
If that's you, start digging into those things specifically and playing with the leak jet.
You'll come to understand how the accelerator pump and leak jet all work together.
There are multiple jetting circuits in that carburetor, after the one we are discussing here.
Lastly, you can have a look inside the throttle Cam and linkage "door" on the right side of your carburetor.
There's an old school mod called "the o-ring mod" that basically takes the slack out between your throttle hand rolling the throttle cam behind that door, and where it starts to push that dowel rod I mentioned earlier.
If you see a little bit of slack between the point where this Cam actuates that rod, you can wire tie them together. That's the actual mod.
It takes away some of that disconnect between your throttle hand, and the bike actually revving up like you would expect it to.
Have fun, and you can reach me here in the future just in case I miss your comment on RUclips: www.mxrevival.com/contact

@@mrmicromanager you're very welcome, and I believe you will. Just takes patience as mentioned! The reward is in the process, so be sure to make only one change at a time. When you do this, you'll know exactly what the change affected and whether or not it was desirable. This is the only way to jet. So have fun, be patient, learn your machine and get a really great feel for the things you're doing. No better way to bond with your bike.
FCR's can be made excellent. And the 33 mm they are using in 2021, is it copy of the 33 mm you see me riding in this video.
It has a few additional mods, but it is night and day better than the stock 2020.

@@mxrevival Just a follow up for anyone down the road who is interested. I took the carb off my 2021 SR300S and they had done the 'gasket' trick but with safety wire. I removed the safety wire and put a gasket on. Need to do some more riding/testing, but based upon startup and run in the garage I would say I got it a bit better. The problem with the safety wire fix from the factory is that it doesn't really account for the actual idle that you have. I got it to idle good, adjusted the screw, did the gasket fix and then it seemed to be better. I'm still interested in seeing what the lectron situation looks like for the bike though.

Always here to help you get the answers you need.
I think you'd really love this bike. Fun, affordable, plush, plenty of room for really fun mods.
I can tell you that the brakes on my personal 2020 are extremely strong, like really really good.
I'm wondering if there was something funky going on with one of the test bikes we rode. One of them had a gigantic 270 mm oversized rotor, the one with the headlight. It stopped on a dime! The one Justin was riding first, the more peppy one, he didn't seem to like the brakes but when I got on the bike I also didn't notice. I forgot to pay attention.
I am a heavy front-breaker but I also drag my rear brakes over chop so maybe I was mitigating the situation.
At any rate, zero complaints from me on the brakes.
      Hope that helps!
