Every time I have another ride on my “keeper” 2012 WR250R, which is really well set up for adventure riding, I am immediately reminded how effective a light frame and small motor can be. They are seriously fast, especially on the rough and slippery terrain we ride on here on the Eastern seaboard. I love my equally well set up T7, but the grin factor is with the 250. Thanks Dave and Clubby for your job well done.

Great video guys! FINALLY got mine a few months ago, really even better than expected right out of the box. 100% spot on about the bar risers and exhaust, but I must say the 87stock improved ECU was well worth it. Not a huge difference in power, but noticeable. Biggest difference was it is so much better down low and no more on/off twitch in the throttle. Putting my nickels up for the suspension, WAY too soft for me at @220 with gear plus camp gear. Definitely still well worth the price, I can’t imagine ever needing more bike for my style of riding. Stay safe!
Love u guys and this bike, was happy to see you give it some love and a build. Your initial review was awesome. Iv got my '18 KLX250 built to the Hilt and will never give it up, its better suited for the riding I do 50/50 dual sport/single track explorer. But IF I did more adv style riding this would be my bike. I cant be the only one that cant stand B Itchy Boots mentioned every other comment on a 300L Rally either...You guys ride A LOT bettter.
Yep. I've never seen Itchy Boots push her CRF. She travels solo and is consistently mitigating risk by riding conservatively and simply chugging along. Mentioning Itchy seems mostly relevant to reliability, range, and approachability..
Awesome bike! Sold my 890 and moved to the Rally. Best decision I have made! Brilliant in the bush and competent on road. I used YSS suspension and it is amazing!!
I have $2k US in my little rooster, and I have plans on dumping another $2k US into it to get it right where I want it to be. Some people say I’m crazy, but I don’t think I am, because it will be everything that I could ask for, and I have no plans to ever get rid of it. The only reason i would ever consider selling it, is if they produce that unicorn that you mentioned earlier that doesn’t even exist! One year/1500 miles later, and the little bike is more fun every day I ride it. And it’s RELIABLE! I enjoyed watching your build!
You made the right choice not to change anything with the motor and electronics IMO. I have received numerous suggestions for what I should of done while upgrading another big RUclipsrs CRF300 Rally that just weren’t necessary nor wanted by the owner, including suggestions for cam swaps, ECU changes, clutch swap etc. She already has a tough time finding replacement wear parts! Honda built a surprisingly good bike for the price, but had to make compromises to accomplish that knowing most people wouldn’t put their bike to the test very often or for any length of time. For those that do, the upgrades that you have done are highly recommended! Not cheap, but we’ll worth the investment.
Well done on the mix up of old and new videos for the final cut 👍 As for "performance mods"; Viewers do some research. Price can vary 400%. No matter what, just enjoy what you have and can afford. Get out there 👌
Nice work with with the 300 Rally !! Been seriously looking at adding one to the stall as a lighter weight option over my 790R for local & shorter ADV rides. I had a CRF 450 some years back and really liked it, just don't need that much power in the woods anymore as I'm getting older.... This bike looks like a great option. Dave J
This has been a brilliant series, super informative, thanks. Lotta comments about "better" bikes from those who don't quite seem to grasp that not everyone wants what they want. It's not all about horsepower. The extra horses in some of those "better" bikes actually makes them worse in every way that matters to me.
Had a 300L for about 6 months and put alot of money into it before I sold it and got a Husq FE 250. I liked the 300l I just realized I wanted something better for Enduro/single track but I could definitely see myself getting a Rally for commuting/touring/exploring.
Been thinking about getting one for a couple years now! and I think I just might finally get one before this summer. either a the 300l or 300L rally or 450L. It would be used mostly for commute for a little while until I get to know where the best trails are in my area. and just have fun on it. that's what it's all about for me.. and new hobby as well. I'm 40 years old and been putting it off for the longest time! lol
I wanted to get one of these for my first bike but I still haven't even seen one available where I live. So, I'll just have to get by with a second hand KLX230 until they become more available. Thanks for the review of what's possible with the CRF300L RALLY.
Great build, Dave. The modded red rooster might just be the ticket for many. Let's hope though someone brings the Kove 450 Rally Down Under this year or next so you can review it. Cheers
The Kove looks good on paper, but the service intervals and oil changes are moving into CRF450L territory. Coupled with the unknown regarding long term reliability and spares support I'm sticking with my CRF300L Rally for the time being. I will be keeping a close eye 9n them though...
I fell in love with the 300L before I bought it (grew up on honda bikes), in part from this channel's initial review. After I got one, I never modded the suspension, and felt in that stock state, and my weight at 185lbs, the bike was dangerous on the ohv trails in Western US states. Heavy and sluggish to respond. I eventually bought a ktm 500 (22) and never looked back. I know..$$$, still if you got the $$$, try the ktm 500 instead. I love the 300L, especially how it looks, and wanted to love it but I got a fever when I ripped that ktm 500 during a single 30 min test ride. I'm an adventure rider who likes to ride single track on sketchy trails for context. 300L is a great bike with the suspension, but still nothing near the new KTM or 501 in terms of nimbleness on the more technical off road terrain.
As always guys a great, well organised, well presented review. Such a great bike build. Keep it two wheels down as always. Looking forward to the husky.
Thanks for sharing this great series of videos, I have the 300l with the K-tech suspension, and it works great, the good thing about crf300 is that there are many choices when it comes to aftermarket parts, so people can choose how much they want to spend, and that is awesome.
Have the Ktech rear and front and wow the difference is night and day. From Skittish and at times downright dangerous to Bullet proof dirt and road mauler! 😊
Great build on the mighty CRF300L Rally fellas! They’re rare as hen’s teeth in the US as well. That’s why I went with the Kawasaki KLX 300, though I’d have preferred the Honda for the wind protection and increased fuel capacity.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV I’m not sure either. On Honda’s part maybe they are limiting sales until the Transalp is out and going? They can’t think they limiting the CRF300L will boost Africa Twin sales since they at other ends of the ADV spectrum. I’ve been told that the invasion of the Ukraine has interrupted certain raw material production. I would have thought companies would have found other sources by now, if they relied on the Ukraine for those materials. The pandemic is minimized… I dunno just thoughts/ramblings.
Well done guys very interesting series on this beautiful little bike. A bit annoying that on the build revision you managed to nearly match price wise my cheapskate upgrade with basic suspension upgrade 😝
I have a 300 rally with Ktech front and rear a FMF pipe. It does everything so well. I was out today with a few T7s a 690 and a 701. On the dirt in mid WalesI think I had the easier time, on the tar it'll hold 65-70. A bit more grunt would be nice but in the first four gears it's plenty. The throttle cbr body mod looks effective and pretty cheap. I'm off to Morocco on mine in September so a change of air filter will be needed , the twin air is favourite for that.
Honestly, I'm so excited to see the end result of this motorcycle as well as the Husqvarna build! I can't believe the Husqvarna went up price by nearly 2k just for the heritage graphics 😳 comparing to the 2022 model
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Well if that's the case where does the revenue come from ? Is there a break down of the mags revenue we could have shared.
Great job on the build. Possibly the best price-performance you can do with off-road focused ADV build. And the Husky 501 will probably be the best expensive off-road focused ADV build, so it's a really nice followup. If possible, it would be nice to get direct comparison between the two. How much more you get for 2-3 times the cost, but the 300 might be gone by then.
Thoroughly enjoyed following this bulid. Brilliant content and very informative information. After a 14th month wait im now the owner on a crf300rally. What a fantastic bike.
Hi Dave, nice video, as always. I’m considering one of these 300 Rally’s or a Kove450. I’d be keen to see if you’re planning to test a Kove450 when they’re in AUS? Thanks mate.
My kove 450 rally had hand guards and carrying rack lying around. Just adjusted suspensions setting and preload to my like. Working good for me. Still for long distance rides prefer my ktm640 adv. As can carry more items and fuel range about the same. On weight, the atmosphere about 15 kg heavier but that I clouds rally plate with tools inside and panniers racks for soft bags. On 40 km trip use water proof soft bags only and camped most of time. As stayed mostly to central and western Australia. Also did Cape York two times over years. I did keep Kim in Australia at time. Now married with children. Little time to solo trips nowadays.
Did you guys change anything to the ecu mapping ? All modern bikes suffer a bit from lean running engines, adding a bit more fuel removes a bit of low end vibration and adds some smoothness. It actually made my ktm 390 run a lot nicer, fuel consumption doesn't really change a lot. By the way, to be able to setup the bikes sag correctly when you add luggage or any other weight, the hydraulic preload adjuster was a great add on. The spring rates + the needed preload set the sag of the bike, using the correct sag means the bikes geometry is as it's designed. The bike will ride at it's best with the correct sag settings. 10kg more or less, especially at the level of the rear fender will change how it steers without correcting the sag. Lovely bike by the way, the red rooster, you don't need a lot more than a bike like this to have fun.
Thanks for your response. We didn't bother with ECU changes on this bike, because it didn't seem to make a difference according to people who'd ridden both. That said it makes a big difference with larger capacity bikes.
I must have been the lucky exception ....walked in the Honda shop in Marbella S.Spain and 2 people had cancelled their crf 300 l the week before....so 10 days later I had my little red rooster 😊😊😊😊😊
How about the KLX300 which comes out of the box with better suspension? Any plans for doing a head to head on these two reliable. 300 light dual sports? Loved your channel you have inspired me to purchase a 2022 Tenere 700 and going off on has many adventures here in Florida. You have become the most honest and reliable source of information on the subject of off road adventure. Kepp it up!

Hands down to you for detailed review for us which are lurking the bike. Seeing the modification price list, I can not but wonder....for the total price you can buy ktm, husaberg, beta or something alike. And this crf becomes faint version of these bikes. Honda did a great job with this bike, and I hope that in time some cheaper suspension parts will be available.
I think I waited over 3 months for mine. The dealer was getting only one or two the whole year. I love mine. And this is after having an Africa Twin AS DCT, then 450L. Well, and 50 others before those...
I disagree a lot about the ECU. But not for HP purposes. The 550 ECU big positive is the fact it smooths the off and onto idle low rpm throttle response. It makes the trickling difficult bits much easier and controlled. Completely agree the suspension is number one. In order, Rear, then front. The front if not aweful stock, the rear is... BLOODY ABS!!!!!! Bloody dangerous in the dirt!!!!
hi, have you changer the muffler and just the pipe (catalytic or not?) so not the main collector right? how muche weight less? thanks (ps: how's the bike at bottom range?) :-)...about Husky 501 another beast! more fun than Honda but less comfortable and with short expensive maintenance
I had a 250L and really enjoyed it. The seat was just horrible for what I used it for so I sold it and bought a Ducati Scrambler which I love. I miss how nimble that bike was, and it was just a all around fun experience.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV it has to be the way we are all built, everyone is different. I truly didn’t want to give up my stock red seat because it was a part of the esthetic of this bike, but I could not sit down on that stock seat for more than 30-45min without my rear end falling asleep. Had it not been for a quality aftermarket solution, I would have had to sell the bike, despite how much I love it.
Riders I know who have compared them head to head with or without, haven't found a clear advantage, and in fact found the standard more grunty off the bottom end. But you've done the mods, why don't you reach out to someone that is standard and make your own comparison.
@@guestappearance3211 Well it's not definite. As I said. For example the rider Mo featured in this video pitted his against an ECU modified bike and his performed better in that it had a more useful bottom end. This observation was conceded by both riders.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV The 550 upgrade with the air box mods take this bike to the next level, you have been misinformed. Low down grunt and rideability are improved
@@freefly4585 The guy who back to back tested them and side by side raced said there was nothing in it and in fact went faster. I have known him for years.
Just wondering if solar charging could be integrated and possibly use the lid as a battery storage system, overnight charging of kit is difficult so being able to charge daily either by the bike or other then use that battery bank in a secure place ro charge for example a drone would be amazing
Spending AU$3500 on this bike is simply not a problem because the ONLY competition is the KTM690 (and variants), and you can't actually buy a new one for under AU$19000, but then you still have an unreliable high maintenance princess! I just rode 5500km across Australia with my son on a Rally and a Standard without a single issue. The only time I missed my Africa Twin was with 40km/h head winds, but we just slowed down to 90. That slight inconvenience was vastly insignificant to the huge advantages of heading off on unknown trails and beach tracks knowing that whatever you came across could probably be ridden or in the worst case, you could turn the little bike around on the track and head back! This bike has a modern high revving engine (it is NOT a thumper) and needs to be ridden as such, once you get that into your head it is a cracker!
@@PetterIvarsson agree mate, for this kind of money the difference is night and day. PR7 doesn't throw rocker arms, fork seals or fuel pumps either. They're up to $18k new now though :( but some bargin low km ones I've seen recently around the 10k mark. If they get much closer to 701's they may be in trouble, especially if husky/ktm are finally on top of their 700 range reliability for new models as is the buzz.
I did 5.5k kms round Northern Thailand recently on a crf 300. It's a brilliant bike and reliable. The stock suspension is good for tarmac but not suitable for off road. It's a bit heavier than a ktm but a lot cheaper and doesn't require intrusive maintenance. Oil and filters and away you go without a care.
Guys What a great facelift on the Rooster......... I'm curious what was the Weight savings was on the Arrow exhauts system for the 300 Rally .......... I'm on the fence given its price.... Also have you been keeping an eye on the sub frame given how hard you guys push the bikes....... Im Wondering if its survivling all the impacts given the load on the bike...
Looking forward to this, will be sorry to see the end of it... what time is this on in the UK, I'm guessing 10 pm tonight but I'm absolutely shite with time zones, Daylight saving and Zulu time is ok, but my head hurts after this lol
@Motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV Cheers, I didn't realise you tube time worked automatically for time zones. Loved the wrap up video, my Mrs was watching with me, and I was waiting for the "Haven't you got an exhaust like that one" but luckily no questions were asked 😀
Just did the cbr300 cams and the air intake boot with the 550 performance ecu on my rally. Have also dropped down to a 38t rear sprocket. Makes a good difference. More power through the whole rev range and sits on 120km no worries. Bike runs alot smoother overall. Wasn't too hard of a job either. Still gotta check if I've lost the low end. Will head out to a local hill climb this weekend to check. Update: Still tractors up hills no worries. Maybe a loss in some bottom end with the sprocket change but the extra umph makes up for it. Also, I forgot to mention that you can buy the parts from Honda Thailand through bikerzbits to save a fair few pretty pennies
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV I highway commute into work everyday and the difference is night and day for me. I'm more than happy with the ~$400 spent. And I enjoyed the day tinkering. For anyone else reading this comment, Im with all the others that think, at minimum, the ecu is a mod worth doing. For instance, I would prioritise it over blowing my budget on a titanium muffler..
The Itchy Boots lady has done big KMs bottom to top of the Americas but after 30k it's needed a mini overhaul, suspension seems to get a mention everytime but I reckon if your 75kg it's a great bike.
Got RaceTech f/r on mine....at the time there was not much available. I got one of the first rally in the US so not too much of anything available. Now I'm thinking of the RallyRaid f/r shorter version for my short ass.
Hi guys, loved the build and the Christmas morning like enthusiasm you guys have for motorcycles. Just wondering what effect the new suspension etc had when on the tarmac and bends. Thanks again, from Ireland 🍀 looking 🙏🍀.
@motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV - do you have any plans to review the Voge 300 Rally - maybe sold in Aus as Locin 300 Rally. Bike in UK is 1/3 off the price of a CRF300 Rally, from reviews has better suspension off the bat and as standard comes with rear rack, crash bars, usb power at bars, would be interested in you experienced view/review of it.
I have a stock 300 Rally with the stock rear spring. I’m 5-11”, and average between 180-200 lbs. I plan to put pannier bags on it. I think I might need a stiffer spring. What do you think? Any particular spring you recommend?
Hi Dave, thanks for an amazing series, I really enjoyed it. I have a question. I'm casually looking for replacement of my XT660r. I really like the red rooster, but where I live(Czech rep.) you can by it new for 10k aus. dollars. With moding the suspension, bash plate, luggage carier and few other mods it'll be somewhere around 12-14k. And for that I can buy used 2020 Husky 701(with 15 000km). Is there in your opinion some reason to pick the Rooster instead? Apart from the fact the Honda could be new and simplier bike. Thanks mate.
A full pipe & muffler kit can be bought from Aliexpress for about $220AUD (delivered). How it compares in performance, noise & weight against the OEM and Arrow is hard to say, but the price is tempting.
@@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV Putting a pipe and muffler kit on an Enduro bike does only two things. 1. Empties your wallet! 2. Make it annoyingly louder! There are no better ways to throw your money down the drain!

My last bike was a 99 tenere 660 which just got written off by a Tesla pulling in front/into the side of me.
Great series Dave and Clubby. At just on $16k as fitted , interested to know what the FE501 cost and what it will end up at to get similar fit-out. I know the suspension on the FE501 is way better than the stock CRF300L / Rally but did you also have to re-spring for your larger mass and the gear on the Husky?? Most bikes seem to be spring for the lighter rider of the 70 - 80 kg mark not us bigger and heavier blokes of the 100KG + range Any experienced and advanced trail rider of any 100KG - 120 KG plus gear is going to have to do something to most stock set ups.
You say that there is no competitor on the market at the moment for theses little Honda. In terms of weight (Honda 153kg), the KTM 690 Enduro r or Husky 701 sister (158kg) has more or less the same class, but way more power engine-wise. If you compare, what would be the arguments for or against? What is the difference in character of these machines and is one of them better suited for touring (at least after your build) and why? Thanks for your feedback!
How would you compare that upgraded Rally to a smartly upgraded DR650? I think people really need to understand how little power they are getting with the Rally on the road, unsafe IMO. My DR650 only gives up 25ish lbs to the Rally and will hit 3 digit speeds with a tailwind..

Honda built a surprisingly good bike for the price, but had to make compromises to accomplish that knowing most people wouldn’t put their bike to the test very often or for any length of time. For those that do, the upgrades that you have done are highly recommended! Not cheap, but we’ll worth the investment.
Thanks Bill.
I put in the HSS shock and front spring for my weight and for a fraction of the Rally Raid price, I transformed my bike. Couldn't be happier.
That's one alternative. There's a couple.
Well done on the mix up of old and new videos for the final cut 👍
As for "performance mods"; Viewers do some research. Price can vary 400%.
No matter what, just enjoy what you have and can afford. Get out there 👌
400%, I think that is a little over the top. Please show us how you came to that figure, or in fairness this post should be removed.
Dave J
Go for it! Excellent option.
This has been a brilliant series, super informative, thanks.
Lotta comments about "better" bikes from those who don't quite seem to grasp that not everyone wants what they want. It's not all about horsepower. The extra horses in some of those "better" bikes actually makes them worse in every way that matters to me.
I agree, they don't quite get it.
Good job guys, love the way the 501 was just not even working following the little red revver
They are a cracking bike.
I agree with top 3 priority replacements. I have a stock 2018 Rally 250, I can’t wait to replace my suspension.
Great bike besides the suspension
Thanks Liam
Cheers Dave/Clubby... highly informative, valuable and balanced.
Much appreciated thanks Graham
“There’s a lot of chicken wings in that fork setup!” lol the way you guys talk is great.
There certainly were!
Ordered mine here in Perth last July and got it about a month ago. Can't wait to get stuck in!
Good result
Had a 300L for about 6 months and put alot of money into it before I sold it and got a Husq FE 250. I liked the 300l I just realized I wanted something better for Enduro/single track but I could definitely see myself getting a Rally for commuting/touring/exploring.
Yeah good for those things
Been thinking about getting one for a couple years now! and I think I just might finally get one before this summer. either a the 300l or 300L rally or 450L. It would be used mostly for commute for a little while until I get to know where the best trails are in my area. and just have fun on it. that's what it's all about for me.. and new hobby as well. I'm 40 years old and been putting it off for the longest time! lol
You've just got to find one. They are difficult to come by.
Love this. Keep producing these amazing builds guys!
We will! Have you seen the Husky 501, the BMW310, Honda CBX500, Husqvarna 701 builds on this channel?
I wanted to get one of these for my first bike but I still haven't even seen one available where I live. So, I'll just have to get by with a second hand KLX230 until they become more available. Thanks for the review of what's possible with the CRF300L RALLY.
Thank you, worth the wait.
Great build, Dave. The modded red rooster might just be the ticket for many. Let's hope though someone brings the Kove 450 Rally Down Under this year or next so you can review it. Cheers
Fingers crossed! That Kove looks very interesting.
I would buy it. It offers a bigger engine, ABS and a secondary shaft (no vibrations).
The Kove looks good on paper, but the service intervals and oil changes are moving into CRF450L territory. Coupled with the unknown regarding long term reliability and spares support I'm sticking with my CRF300L Rally for the time being. I will be keeping a close eye 9n them though...
Y'all are awesome. Thanks for sharing the incredible work.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks
As always guys a great, well organised, well presented review. Such a great bike build. Keep it two wheels down as always. Looking forward to the husky.
Thanks! Will do! Yep looking forward to the Husky build.
Thanks for sharing this great series of videos, I have the 300l with the K-tech suspension, and it works great, the good thing about crf300 is that there are many choices when it comes to aftermarket parts, so people can choose how much they want to spend, and that is awesome.
Thanks for your contribution.
Have the Ktech rear and front and wow the difference is night and day. From Skittish and at times downright dangerous to Bullet proof dirt and road mauler! 😊
Awesome build, guys. Very much enjoy the channel. Keep it coming!! Look forward to the Husky build. 👏
More to come!
I have one waiting as soon as a title can be obtained. Finally. Good show and build mates. See you
Thanks Sam.
Really nice work James!

Great build on the mighty CRF300L Rally fellas!
They’re rare as hen’s teeth in the US as well. That’s why I went with the Kawasaki KLX 300, though I’d have preferred the Honda for the wind protection and increased fuel capacity.
I don't understand the shortages. That is the only thing limiting their domination of the adventure world.
The pandemic is minimized…
I dunno just thoughts/ramblings.
Well done guys very interesting series on this beautiful little bike. A bit annoying that on the build revision you managed to nearly match price wise my cheapskate upgrade with basic suspension upgrade 😝
Noted!
Thanks Motobobber
Honestly, I'm so excited to see the end result of this motorcycle as well as the Husqvarna build! I can't believe the Husqvarna went up price by nearly 2k just for the heritage graphics 😳 comparing to the 2022 model
Yeah a lot of movements on models with prices from all brands.
the online Salesman budget needs to be added :)
@@motozz8258 Good point. I wish they payed, but then I'd have even more explaining to do .
It won't be three times the cost. Yes I agree.
That's the comparison I need! 600 mile journey, some dirt, some trail, some highway. 501 or the Rally?
Or 1600 miles!
Enjoyed the series. Will help me prioritize my add ons for my Rally.
Good idea.

Hi Dave, nice video, as always.
I’m considering one of these 300 Rally’s or a Kove450. I’d be keen to see if you’re planning to test a Kove450 when they’re in AUS? Thanks mate.
Yes we are interested in testing one if they come to Australia. But there is no point if they can't be registered here.
I love my 300rally it’s perfect here in Florida USA. I won’t lie the 300L would be better for what I do but the looks won me over
Mate, we LOVE the rally look
Not here yet.
Incredible idea, this might be my next built too! How do you compare this to your Husky 501 build? Thanks Dave!
That is a 2000 word essay
I must have been the lucky exception ....walked in the Honda shop in Marbella S.Spain and 2 people had cancelled their crf 300 l the week before....so 10 days later I had my little red rooster 😊😊😊😊😊
that's great but in Australia there are queues of people waiting.
@CF not sure ask Jose pinto at the service Honda Marbella shop..
Kepp it up!
Thanks Mate for the compliment. We do try, although we appreciate we don't get everything right. Not sure if we can get our hands on a KLX300.
Pretty sure the KLX300 isn’t available in Australia mate.
@@beejoutbush3322 I saw one in epping Melbourne this week so they are here in some capacity.
More trail than adventure.

I agree the Honda is bullet proof and heavy as well and built to a price, after riding one I also agree the suspension is a let down being too soft.
it's still a good bike.
Hands down to you for detailed review for us which are lurking the bike. Seeing the modification price list, I can not but wonder....for the total price you can buy ktm, husaberg, beta or something alike. And this crf becomes faint version of these bikes. Honda did a great job with this bike, and I hope that in time some cheaper suspension parts will be available.
yeah good point
I think I waited over 3 months for mine. The dealer was getting only one or two the whole year. I love mine. And this is after having an Africa Twin AS DCT, then 450L. Well, and 50 others before those...
Yeah. Clubby and I really rate it.
Great vid/build. Though I ride the 390 adventure, this bike has also enticed me as well.
I love the 390
I disagree a lot about the ECU.
Agree about the ABS.
Missing the big bore 301cc kit and cams from the CB 300 😢
Hey Dave and Clubby , Rekon we,ll get the cove 450 rally here in oz ?
Hope so
Mine arrives in March i believe. Cannot wait.
You will really enjoy it, I guarantee.
hi, have you changer the muffler and just the pipe (catalytic or not?) so not the main collector right? how muche weight less? thanks (ps: how's the bike at bottom range?) :-)...about Husky 501 another beast! more fun than Honda but less comfortable and with short expensive maintenance
Yes and yes, 5 kg less.
I had a 250L and really enjoyed it. The seat was just horrible for what I used it for so I sold it and bought a Ducati Scrambler which I love. I miss how nimble that bike was, and it was just a all around fun experience.
Seat upgrade was the first thing that I did to my Rally.
Agree. A great little bike. I found the seat comfortable.
@@airadaimagery692 Clearly you arse is shaped very differently to mine. :)
The performance 550 ecu made a big difference for me. It cant be all in my head. I also do have a yoshimura pipe, it felt so rich. ECU fixed that.
I also have the 550 stage 1 ECU and that little extra punch at any given RPM made a big difference to the handling of my 300l
No idea. Not sure you'd get enough power to charge a drone.
I think the AJP PR7 is a good competitor to the 690 and in some aspects the red roster.
I agree. Mind you a second hand KTM690 is a worthy contender.
Simon, thanks .. best wishes.
You have great open spaces down there

I'm more than happy with the ~$400 spent. And I enjoyed the day tinkering. For anyone else reading this comment, Im with all the others that think, at minimum, the ecu is a mod worth doing. For instance, I would prioritise it over blowing my budget on a titanium muffler..

Very well, but that cost us $18000 AU!
The Itchy Boots lady has done big KMs bottom to top of the Americas but after 30k it's needed a mini overhaul, suspension seems to get a mention everytime but I reckon if your 75kg it's a great bike.

Add Rally Raid, KTech or YSS suspension they all do the job much better than stock. The only question is how much and how extreme you want to go
@motorcycle Adventure Dirtbike TV - do you have any plans to review the Voge 300 Rally - maybe sold in Aus as Locin 300 Rally. It doesn't in the dirt

I noticed that the kick stand drops down and hits the ground at every jump
That's correct. Rally Raid have a stronger kick stand spring that has been installed.
A full pipe & muffler kit can be bought from Aliexpress for about $220AUD (delivered). How it compares in performance, noise & weight against the OEM and Arrow is hard to say, but the price is tempting.

Most bikes seem to be spring for the lighter rider of the 70 - 80 kg mark not us bigger and heavier blokes of the 100KG + range
Any experienced and advanced trail rider of any 100KG - 120 KG plus gear is going to have to do something to most stock set ups.
Agree. It will be interested.
In a couple of months we'll be doing a test between the CRF300 and Husky 501 and possibly the 701.
How would you compare that upgraded Rally to a smartly upgraded DR650? I think people really need to understand how little power they are getting with the Rally on the road, unsafe IMO. My DR650 only gives up 25ish lbs to the Rally and will hit 3 digit speeds with a tailwind..
