    A few suggestions... First off, the tune here as written is in F, not C... and a whistle player would always think of it as being in G (always referring to the actual concert pitch produced when playing on a "D" whistle). If you numbered the fingers from the bottom up (rh ring finger = 1) then for tunes that are in the key of the lowest note on whichever whistle you play, the finger number would match the degree of the scale.

    • @KerinGedge
      @KerinGedge  5 лет назад

      Thanks for that, can't believe no one picked up on that in almost 2 years. As for the other things you mentioned, I'm a dabbler not a player, self taught in everything I play and so teach in the way that I taught myself. It seems to suit most people. Please also keep in mind that my lessons are for people who aren't players to begin with, I'm intentionally keeping things as simple as possible.

    You play with your left on top? I've always used my right, are you left handed or is that just how you were taught?

    • @KerinGedge
      @KerinGedge  5 лет назад

      I'm right handed and self taught but feel more comfortable with my left hand closest to the mouth, according to google most people play this way but to be honest go with whatever you're comfortable

    • @austinaxley81
      @austinaxley81 5 лет назад +1

      @@KerinGedge nice, I'm also self taught, I was doubting myself for a second there like "could there be a good reason to have the left on top" but I couldn't imagine it would make a difference. 😆

Also, on line 2 with the second G, after playing it I lifted my finger for a higher note before playing the CC... what do you think?

  • @JanetteGailFrancis
    @JanetteGailFrancis 4 года назад

    Suggestion: I would have rathered that when you were going through the notes initially (starting from 2:17) that you also put a mark under the note name. Because even thought I slowed the video down as you went on I got totally lost where I was. With the fingers are great but with the addition of the mark under the note with the fingers would have enabled me to learn the notes to be able to play all songs/tunes, rather than muscle memory for the finger positions to only play this song/tune. Thanks for trying though.

    • @KerinGedge
      @KerinGedge  4 года назад

      I honestly don't understand why people try to play along with or keep up with these tutorials... you're meant to "practice this until you end up with something that sounds like this". The inference is that you stop the video and practice until you move on. I can't apologize for this.

    • @JanetteGailFrancis
      @JanetteGailFrancis 4 года назад

      @@KerinGedge Hi Kerin, you must realise that everyone has their own way of learning. Just because you can't understand 'why' or expect others to do it your way doesn't make someone else's way of learning wrong. I can't understand why someone would try to teach and not understand basic psychology. Cheers.
