This is why I love instruments.
I bought a tin whistle as a joke for my Dungeons and Dragons character to annoy my friends. Now I am actually practicing in my free time to get better. There are so many skills to learn. Your videos have helped immensely in my experimentation to find what fits.

Before starting my adventure with tin whistle I thought that fingering would be the hardest, and blowing was just blowing, nothing difficult. After a few days, each clean sound is a little success for me, even though I mastered Concernig the Hobbits quite well. Great channel Stephanie, thanks a lot!

I'm the same. I just naturally use breath vibrato. Some of my fingers don't move fast enough to have a good vibrato. Remembering and finding when to taken in air is a good to know. I get so focused on playing a tune I forget to breathe in (hahah). I've played around with puffing my cheeks with the lowest notes. Still pursing my lips but let any addional air slightly fill my cheeks and regulates the flow out to the fipple. Just did that by accident but haven't perfected it. Your ornamentation set is perfect and is just enough to add beauty to any tune. I've tried the complicate cut/tap/rolls and I could never get the hang of them. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for the tip on how to play the higher octave.
I have been frustrated to the point of putting the flute down for several months because I couldn't find a tutorial on how to properly achieve the higher octave. You put it in simple terms. I was one who just blew harder and got more frustrated. There is no tutor in Austin, TX, so I've been relying on RUclips videos. Even if you think it's too simple to put on RUclips you may still influence someone. Nice job on the ornamentals too.

Cutie, (assuming your huba doesn't mind me calling you that), diaphragmatic vibrato was recently developed (hence they didn't even know about it). I suggest it is the only practical way to vibrato on flutes such as the whistle, the recorder, Native American flute, and although the lip vibrato can be use on the transverse, diaphragmatic is the way of proper method taught today. To bad it's so hard to learn huh.

pajamasflannel you're much better off starting with a high D Whistle. They're cheaper and easier to play.
You'll learn all the basics and techniques you need to pick up a low whistle and play it easily and you'll get to know if you actually like playing whistles before you spend any money.
Low whistles need a different grip and a lot more air and the finger holes are large and far apart. They can often be too much of a stretch for people to be able to actually play, (my husband can't play one because his fingers won't stretch enough).
They're more difficult to play in general, so everyone will recommend starting high then going low 😊 pick up a Clarke Sweetone (in the video here) they're less than £10 usually and will be a great place to start.

Is this lady’s accent typical of a particular city/area ? It seems to change every so often (does anyone else hear that?) , but it’s pleasant. Thoroughly pleasant to listen to but .... where ?.?.?

It's Wales baby! 🤣 Haha. I grew up in South Wales but fairly close to the English border, so it's a blended accent.

But, we aren't using traditional, we are doing "fantasy style" as I call it. Vibrato makes Tin Whistles far more beautiful.

I have just discovered the mathematical equation for beauty: B = SIGMA(Ri), Ri is radius of all profile lines (face only). In simple Engish: the rounder your face, the beautiful you are (not to the extreme of course). This equation only applies to women. For men, there no such thing as beauty.
