      Tongue. When you tongue you will have more control able to split the notes in a good quick manner and less shrill.

      I started using the rubber band trick to mute the sound while I practice. Game changer. I practice way more now. I don’t have to wait to be alone anymore.

      @@mightymoose1158 what's the rubber band trick please?

    • @mightymoose1158
      @mightymoose1158 2 года назад +7

      @@applemanuk she showed us how to « mute » or certainly quiet the flute down. I tried a thin rubber band wrapped multiple times around the window. You have to play around with the elastic to get the sound you want but it will be quieter. I happened to find an elastic for a lobster claw and it fit perfectly over the window. The result is barely audible sound but you can still hear the notes you play. So I can practice with people around and it doesn’t bother them. So I get a lot more practice and enjoyment with my tin whistle.

    Like on the highland bagpipe ... relax the fingers ! Not easy but with à lot of practice the issue is resolved. It took me 1 week to relax the fingers on Mason apron, each time i learn a New tune i am stressed ...

    I have found it helpful to approach the whistle this way- the first octave think of spitting cherry pits. The second octave think of spitting watermelon seeds. The narrowing of the lips creates a more focused air stream and helps to hit the second octave.

    • @CutiepieTinWhistle

      Different whistles have different requirements, some are definitely more difficult than others. Try thinking about that narrow fast stream of air, that should hopefully help make the high notes on your D whistle feel a little more achievable. x

    • @CutiepieTinWhistle
      @CutiepieTinWhistle  2 года назад +7

      You'll need a decent whistle for that, but the principal is the same. Fast, direct air, unusual fingerings so you hit the notes well, and the willingness to go deaf in the process 😆
