I think doing a cut on the A hole right as i tongue a low d is the easiest way to consistently get it without breaking the note.
Or if I’m ascending down from E sometimes I don’t tongue the D and just finger it while letting my breath taper off

I really like your videos and learned to play my favorite songs on my whistles. Can you make a tutorial for the Song guardian form Alanis Morissette on D whistle? 😅

low notes are easy for me, its the high notes i struggle with, like in lord of the rings when you go to b (top finger only) to c# no fingers, they sound like the same note and the racket makes my ears bleed :-) lol

I made a short video last week on how to improve the quality of your high notes 😊 might be worth checking out! The better your control and the more you practise, the cleaner and sweeter the high notes become. x

I thought the same thing for several weeks when I started playing until I learned to dam up the hollow spot where the fipple should be in the mouthpiece with blu tac. Then when I got a moderately better whistle than the cheapos I started with (a Walton’s, a Clarke sweet tone, and a generation) I found I have absolutely no issues getting high notes. Even the 3rd octave D is fairly easy with a decent whistle. And by decent I mean one that’s around 20-30 quid
