I've grown used to the original Japanese version, TEKKAMAN BLADE, but THIS version is the one I love the most. The american soundtrack was amazing. I used to watch this when it aired every sunday, when I was a teenager. Classic.
Sunday morning cartoons were always different since most of the time they kept changing and I did not necessarily have time to watch them since Sundays were about going out with the family, church, swapmeets, groceries, etc. but on those few occasions i did stay home this was one of those shows and man does it take me back.
For the longest time I just I just couldn't remember the name of this show, just that I watched when I was 5 and it was awesome. The only thing that I could remember that might lead me to it was the guy transforming into a mech type thing with a crystal. It's taken 16 years but I finally found this again =)
Tails802 dude i named my dog after that guy slade lol my family had no idea where it came from i used to get up at 430 am just to watch this show this was one of my faves too
+Tails802 it was good for the time. it still holds up somewhat but the japanese version is better because it just sounds very dramatic in that japanese way. you know what i mean with japanese voiceovers. the characters just sound dramatic
Took me 31 years to find this and I have dug and dug forever. Thank Teknoman I found this. In Houston this came on channel 39 and DBZ right before school.
The opening theme of this anime gave me goosebumps as a kid. Actually still does, it's got such an epic vibe. Wish there was a piano tutorial for this, or just sheet music.
After all these years, how do we still not have a version with the correct intro/outro as we had back then on DVD? This show was huge here thanks to Cheez TV. Although this isn't exactly what we got here, this is the US redub where they changed Blade to Slade and changed some voice actors, we got the original English dub.
I am 29 years old and it is been 20 years since I have watched it on Fox Kids! Good old times. I will never forget one of my all time favorite anime for sure. Fox Kids for life. Teknoman is blessing. 😎
When you were a kid and all you had was Luny Tunes... UPN9 presented you with a story of a man who defended Earth against his FAMILY, with the power of the ENEMY that he could only use for half hour at a time, less he turn on ALL his friends... Saban was right about this one.. just decades ahead of its time... Thank you Saban! You changed my life
I live in PGH,P.A. and first saw this show on wptt22. I loved it since, sad ending tho😞. Was around 10yrs old, and still can't get, and don't want to, that song outta my head🤓
So many times I would over sleep on Saturday morning just to wait up in time for the credits. 😢. Oh man some of the most heart breaking moments of my child hood.
@@CirianAlani Yeah, being poor back in those days wasn’t fun. We had an old vcr. It definitely couldn’t be programmed to record 🤣. And if it could my parents definitely didn’t understand how. so did I. in the mornings. Cheez TV had other Japanese Animations dubbed in English such as Pokemon Bayblade Sailor moon etc. I also remember they showed Xmen
This was the first series that I began to understand the plot a bit and I watched every ep of it when it first airred, its a awesome show that needs more attention, a guy in a metal suit having what could be considered a weapon of mass destruction built into each shoulder and a compling storyline to boot, back then I didn't know of anime yet it was a show worth watching. Action, mystery as well as adventure and some good charaters, thou Lance was the most under developed of the villians, he just came cannon slaughter to show off Blade Evo in the end.
I remember watching this on either Cartoon Network or Toonami, I'm not sure which as it was a very long time ago. I never missed this show and I loved the story and the cool mechs.
@@AndyTaken best era for anime for the British audience. I still watch Dragonball Super to this date. Techno man was my first taste of animation and loved it
This super cool anime was originally called, Tekkaman Blade. There was an even earlier version of it back in the 1970's (without the Blade part in it's name.)
The main character of Teknoman slade had a evil brother on the show except his brother was more stronger, they need to remake Teknoman and bring it back out, what a amazing anime 😎
This is the first anime I've ever watched. Honestly, I had no idea at all what was going on in the plot back when I watched it. Just thought it was awesome.
The series is called Tekkaman Blade, so yeah, Blade is his name. They changed it to Teknoman and him to Slade when they brought it to the U.S. from Japan.
I like the purely techno instrumental music in the intro. I know the Japanese intro has a song but the U.S. intro is better to me anyway. But I already know it was given the treatment of edited violence just like voltron and many other import cartoons.
This theme song was originally going to be for the english version of Metalder starring Jason David Frank and be called Cybertron but Saban decided to cast him as the Green Ranger for Power Rangers instead. Cybertron was eventually turned into VR Troopers and this theme was used for this show originally called Tekkaman Blade in Japan.
"ChEeEeZ TV!" I remember well. I used to watch it while eating cheese toasties for breakfast before school. The only tune I can say has been in my head for 30 years as if I just heard it this morning. It has never dimmed. TEKNOMAN.
Yeah! back in the day when Anime was Badass! before the Pokemon invasion and before the genre started focusing on moé cuteness or sexualized fanservice. I remember watching this on UPN in the mid to late 1990s.
I remember taping this show my younger brother on our VCR back when it premiered on TV. I think it was a night premiere too which made it unusual. By the way, I didn't know Bryan Cranston was in Techno Man! I mean, I knew he did voice overs back in the day (a lot in anime) but I didn't know he was on this show.
The last episode I remember before they stopped airing all their cartoon lineup, was a character named Ballsack, not sure of the spelling but it was legit "Balls sack" in the pronunciation. Anybody else remember this?
Watching this now as an adult, you realize this series and all others like he-man, she-ra, thundercats, etc., all have ridiculous and overdramatic voices (like the friggin AWESOME narrator) and cheesy, purposeful coincidences (teknoman=techno music... Love it lol!).... But damn this series was the shit as a tween
Currently watching Tekkaman Blade and I had to check this out for nostalgic reasons😂 the changes between this and Tekkaman Blade are so weird Slade? Really?
Saban adapted Tekkaman Blade into Teknoman. when will the UPN english version of Teknoman be released on DVD? the first DVD release was from Media Blasters and had the international version of the Teknoman English dub before the UPN's airing.
@@joeyd6272 On one of the last disc, if you watch all the episodes and then let it play out naturally until it returns to the menu, the main menu then plays the Teknoman theme. The opening was too good
Now THAT, was anime. Killer sountrack, too, with real oldskool techno music.

Anime America was right: this theme is catchy. I can't stop humming along with it since I first heard this theme.
"When I descend upon the earth, darkness will unveil its banner across yet another region of the cosmos."
0:09 “Unfurl.” Not unveil.
