DC asked Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and Alan Burnett for a "Batman in High School" show. This was their answer.

Rocky Reuben so the producers moved on to Justice league and then wbkids no longer existed so the rights go to cartoon network (a sister company ) and well people don't like giving there rights to other companies

What made this series so wonderful is how it wasnt afraid to be really intense. It was shamelessly dark and subtle in how disturbed it was portraying an "pseudo-apocalyptic" society. It knew what it wanted to accomplish, and it did so very well. It wanted to push the Batman franchise to a level of morbidness and depression that was well beyond the typical hero; the person taking on the role of "dark knight" is no longer an immensely experienced nor particularly-intelligent individual - which expresses the drastic reversal of the series - yet this person handles a futuristic city with morals far more decayed and "real" than what the franchise normally portrays the already-dark Gotham to be. What I personally loved so much about this series is how brave it was. It really took a risk removing Bruce Wayne as the direct protagonist and putting in Terry as the new Batman, especially considering how drastically the tone and setting changed as well. It was a big leap, but it turned out fantastically.

I tink its time dc make a batman beyond movie specially right now since they are trying to build a cinematic universe of their own and he could add certain element in dc cinematic that marvel don't have legacy the hero left for futur generation showing hero getting old
they can either make it a live action serie set 50 yr in the futur (to me that would be much better choice then the gotham serie in developpement) and then link it to the cinematic universe which is set in the present days

We were TOTALLY spoiled as kids with the old school Cartoon Network shows. I remember how intense this intro was for me as a kid. It made me feel uneasy, yet very intrigued. This show had EVERYTHING modern cartoons lack - intense action, a plot that creates tension and keeps you hooked, great character writing and even some brutal scenarios. Sure, it may have crossed some lines as a kids cartoon, but that's what made it special - it wanted to reflect a dark world, with a young hero caught in its chaos and pushing through its terrors.
I'll forever cherish cartoons that didn't avoid being more "explicit" or "violent" simply because there's a younger audience, because they eventually grow to love it for what it offers.

Mocha Delight I feel bad for todays kids, having to grow mostly unserious cartoony shows compared to us. Sure Batman Beyond was serious, but it's not like all cartoons at that time were super serious and dark and violent like that. This show kinda prepared you to the bad(/good) aspects of life you'll encounter when growing up. That's a really good kids show I'd say. You just don't have to be a puss (that's kinda mean I know and I'm sorry, but you know what I mean right?)

Mega Pulsar huh?Unserious?AT is very serious and becomes more darker with every new seasons,Steven Universe has a lot moral choices which very usefull for kids(and i dont speak about mature content which doesnt mean sex or violence but things that very serious even for adult),GF had good storytelling and mystery. If you almost forgot before BB there were Nickylodean tv shows and warner bros(from which bats coming that day) which has tiny toons, animaniacs, pinky and brain, freekazoid, mask, ace ventura etc.And if you dont know for growing up there were great shows Legend of Aang and Corra(first programm was like original Bats and second like BB but more mature and i dont joke(lesbian remarks, post traumatic moments, death, villain with good minds but with bad realisation) and new SJ which was even complex. The same is with Pixar.Look at their movies. Can you find this in 90's?Only in Lion King but its Hamlet for children so it doesnt count.
This era even adulter than in 90's but without 90's which have a lot of children shows with adult jokes and themes that's not for children industry becomes better. And another great example how you arent right is Futurama. Its funny series but with every new seasons one moment and you cry like a baby because its dramatic moment.Adventure Time has become Futurama 2.0 for children.Starting from something innovative but without logics now it has very complex story with every moment which child go through at the same age like main character.Anout another character is the same.Love, hate, friendship, marriage, sadness, death of loving ones, holocaust(yeah yeah very unserious bsvkground),distrust, loneliness, traiting from parents

One of the darkest, creepiest, and most nostalgic animated intros ever made in the history of mankind. Heroic, anti-heroic and violent criminal attributes blending in together, reflecting causes and effects of the futuristic Gotham. Batman (Old - New) and their villains are much more frightening and terrifying than most other super-powered heroes and their villainous counter-parts. I love dark characters and comics! We need a new Batman series of movies, that doesn't portray Batman as a buffoon that sounds like a chainsmoker... That irked me the most about those movies, Batman just wasn't smart! He was an utter idiot who had to rely on other people to give him the stuff he needed!
