When you are 7 years old coming back from school, and you randomly happen to find this show on a public channel expecting the usual average mainstream cartoons : * . *
I had to look it up, but you’re right! Blade’s armor is more/less and exaggerated, more ‘pointy’ version of the biobooster armor. Some of the episodes in Tekkaman Blade are filler, and some have very low quality animation, but the series as a whole-the story behind it-is one of my favorites.
Awesome job! I would kill to see the whole series remade with this level of quality. I loved this series way back in the 90's. Blade is a forgotten hero desperately needing a remake.
Thank you! Yeah, I would love to see the series get remade. It’s such a powerful and tragic story, with most of his real battles being incredibly painful to fight, let alone win. I don’t know that I’d want a US studio touching it at the moment, but I think we’re far enough along with VFX to make the series a very tight 7-8 hour live-action trilogy. That said, I think I’d still prefer to just see it re-animated-maybe in a similar vein of Red Line or something. As you said, a forgotten here needing and deserving a remake.
You and me both! I still remember trying to record it on the TV/VHS combo in my folks’ room on Sunday mornings (UPN 20). I don’t even think I was aware of anime as a genre back then. I realize now some of the “cartoons” I was watching were anime, but Teknoman was the first one that really captured my imagination. Happy to be able to pay a tribute to a great first!
anime are optimized for action and americans do always a different type of cartoons and rarely with a lot of action so they don't need to compete with this
I really appreciate that. Truth be told, I’m in the same boat. I haven’t actually given the full series a watch in about 15 (yikes) years. It’s a great length too; long enough to get immersed, but not so long that it (necessarily) strays far from the main narrative. There are some filler episodes from what I remember, but overall it’s a very tight progression. I’m actually working on a book with a character inspired in part by D-Boy’s journey. So…justification! ;) Happy to have rekindled your interest the anime!
I loved how you included the SFX of the anime including the infamous “VOLTEKKKAAAA!” shout. Also, the title sequence at the end was a great finishing touch.
Thanks! I considered using the American VO from Tekkaman Blade 2 for “Teksetter!”, and “Volketekker!”, because the actor actually does a really good job making them sound like strained commands, but thought it was better to go with the original. (Also, I think the music behind one of them was really loud, which would have made incorporating them a pain. The original score for the series was so understated that it was easy finding clean audio) Very glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! I felt the same way when I came across breadhenge’s cover. Up to that point, I just had a low-quality snippet of the intro that was probably pulled off the TV when the show was airing decades ago. It’s good to know I’m not the only one who found the music particularly engaging. Glad you found what you were looking for!
Tecnoman Blade. The story is superior. The characters amazing. The hero is ultimate. His behavior top. He is a true hero. Protector of humanity. We don't have animes like this anymore. The should make a great trilogy movie or game. But the anime is top, best of the best. Amazing great. ✨
For sure! If I could adapt one anime into a movie trilogy, it would be TB. We have the technical VFX to pull it off, and I think there’s easily three solid narratives built into the series. It’s a compelling story, with just enough sci-if, and tech to augment the poignant story that is largely about family.
@@schwaaard Yeah Tecnoman Blade 3 must be made. It is so easy to continue the story. The battle with the aliens is not finished. I didn't like Tecnoman 2 with the kids team. The first Tecnoman was superior. A true masterpiece. ✨
@@OlympianPhoenix I agree. Aside from the fact that we get to see Aki and D-Boy fighting together, the sequel was a disappointment. Still trying to figure out how Dead became so powerful and why Blade no longer had his Blastor upgrade. I think it may be hard for a sequel to capture the emotional impact for Blade, only because the family element is gone. I agree there is more story to be told, but admittedly I’m not sure what it is yet. I’d just like to adapt the original series into a trilogy. I think it could resonate with a lot of folks. …Or at least two of us! :D
@@schwaaard We could have a new hero maybe the D Boy's son and D Boy should help him to defeat the invasion of the aliens. Yeah I agree with you. I wanted to see more from Tecnoman Plus, but it is difficult, because even Omega had said that it is a very rare and powerful transformation and very dangerous to any tecnoman to achieve. I remember D Boy on the weel chair because of that power. The story has a lot of emotions. The love with Aki the family, the friends and the enemy all mixed up. Tecnoman Blade is so special and unique. Let's hope to see a new great and amazing Tecnoman. :-D;-)
Thanks man-glad you like it! This version was an afterthought that hit me shortly after I’d told you it was done, and didn’t want to inundate you with messages/links. Happy you found it, and happier still that you actually prefer it. I think overall it makes for a more balanced presentation, but my goal had originally been just to knit the best visuals together to tell a quick story and set it to awesome music; the SFX only came in when I realized there either weren’t any in the original, or they were mixed poorly. I originally had the levels about here, but after reviewing it, I thought people would be like, “Dude! You talk about this great song and I could barely hear the darned thing!”. So I changed it for the original posting, but ultimately decided to put the original mix out there as well.
For sure. Even with the nostalgia factor, those stand-alone, simplistic shows don’t approach the emotional resonance and relational complexity of this series. And even at its worst, the animation here is at least on par with most cartoons of the 80s.
Damn the quality and nostalgia are really high. The music score goes so well with it as well. Question: What version is the animation from? I want to buy and rewatch the entire series at this animation quality haha
Thanks so much! Really glad you enjoyed it. As for the featured animation version, that’s a bit tricky. The box set I bought over a decade ago isn’t of the highest quality, so I used it to do a rough/initial edit, and then scavenged higher res versions of key sections from various places. I don’t think I ever found a full episode at that quality. I’ve seen a new box set available from Japan on eBay that may be the higher quality source, but I’m not sure. It’s pretty darned expensive, so I’d like to think the quality is better, but the stated resolution isn’t HD. It’s the only version I see for sale at the moment though. :( I wish you luck in your search-it’s a powerful series despite the fickle quality throughout.
An intriguing idea! I’ll have to see if I can find hi-res footage from the episodes they’re in. Not as much to work with, but I’ll keep it in mind as an edit in the future. Thanks for the suggestion!
WOW! What a great job you did incorporating the Japanese script with the Westernised score. Did you compose and produce the revised music? Again, very well done!!!
Thank you so much! It was something I wanted to do ever since I realized that the score we had here in the States wasn’t the same as the OST. As much as I love the original series’ voice acting and characters, I always found the music to be lacking energy. Glad I could do a serviceable job merging the two together. :) As for the revised music, that honor goes to breadhenge here on RUclips: www.youtube.com/@breadhenge In fact, finding his cover of the song was what inspired me to undertake this project, as the original UPN intro is a lot shorter and the quality isn’t all that great. I have a link to where you can download the song in the description (I tried to paste it here, but it gives a very long URL). Thanks for watching!
LOL. Understandable! If they keep the story as-is, I'd be okay with them giving us a widescreen version with today's top animation. But right now, getting a faithful update seems to be an unlikely proposition. (But considering the blu-ray is very expensive and hard to find, an affordable re-release of the original would be fine with me.)
@@schwaaard original was animated by too many artist, even masami obari (hentai artist) i gues they all dead or retired and jp studios have not many real artists left :/ ehh we live in truly dark times
@@ozozzooo001 Ah, that explains why the quality was so fickle. Some episodes looked great, and some looked really really bad. Perhaps the biggest fluctuation in quality of any anime. --And yes, we're currently in the Dark Ages of media and entertainment. But give it another 5-6 years and we'll be heading towards a Renaissance! :D
I've forgotten how badass Blade was, Strong willed, battle fanatic, mysterious. You hardly see a protagonist that can carry the whole show on his shoulders. Still even though the dub sounds like a parody at times I find him saying" Tekno power" Better than Tek-seta"

Siento que viaje en el tiempo al recordar la BSO de esa serie, aunque nunca la vi completa, las peleas de robots fueron increíbles...
This is why Anime is the best. The quality puts American animation to shame.😍
Specially modern American animation.

I don't even consider American animation 'Animation'
Heavens yeah! This was one of those anime i loved during my childhood!
Thanks for uploading this music video.❤
My pleasure! Thanks for watching. :)
Wow the animation and sound quality are amazing. I loved how you had some of the battle scenes in here with the theme.
It was a dream match-up, finding the cover of the US song, and hunting down some of the higher quality animations. Glad you enjoyed it!
They should remake this anime.
Absolutely! It’s due. We can hope! :)
