    What is the positron, why does it exist, who is it for? That and more in todays video!
    Where would you take a 3d printer that could go anywhere?

    Positron Team Was Here First 😎
    Post edit: We have taken notes and are working on fixing as much ws we can. Auto mounting USB for example will likely be included in future Pi images.
    As for clogs, the 90⁰ bend is the same diameter as the PTFE, so clearing clogs has been relatively easy, and few and far between.

    Nero: "hello, accounting? Yeah how can I afford a vacation?"
    Accountant: "there is no vacation money, you have to work for life"
    Nero: "💡 - what if I talked about 3d printer on vacation and make it a video? "
    Accountant: "save receipts, that sounds like a job related expense"

    Great video! I plan on bringing my Positron with me on a vacation flight this weekend. A lot of the complaints about this are things I've had to deal with traveling with 3D printers. Finding power, loading gcode, having to recalibrate when you move it. Once this has reliable auto-calibration. USB mounting, and batteries/solar, it'll be a truly portable printer.

    The original wasn’t really capstan drive, although it was cable driven. “Synchromesh driven” is probably a bit more accurate-the cable had a helix wrapped around it that allowed it to work like a belt drive in a 3D space instead of limited to a 2D plane.
    Also the Positron LT uses completely off-the-shelf or 3D printed parts, no custom machined parts needed. The performance is pretty comparable, few if any performance sacrifices though it does add a few mm to the folded height

      Your right, that was a mis-quote on my part, it was syncromesh, which required a re-design to the current belted configuration due to complexity and reliable sourcing issues

    I have ran through couple spools on my positron and with careful tuning the motion system is very good. Mine can handle 30k accel and 600mm/s without overheating or skipping. My everyday printing is the same speeds as my X1C at work and with more cooling duct iterations, it could easily handle 20k for quick prints on the go.
    If you like building or modding 3D printers and want a small travel printer, would definitely recommend a Positron.

    Reminds me of my Mk2 Cetus. A collapsable arm looks easier but I'm sure this is the best option. Looks cool for a vacation printer or small camping printer to fix the odd broken stuff.

    I can imagine it would be good to have on a sail boat in the middle of the ocean, or just on a trip with a camper van. Alot of things that can go wrong that could potentially be solved by a 3d printer.

    Nice video as always, would love to get one of these for myself since i dont have a lot of space and having a printer you can pop up, print and store sounds great!

      Do It, its a fun build (now that many of the kinks have been worked out) and the nice thing is even for home use you can just whip it out when you want to print then stow it away.

    Very cool printer but I feel like it's over priced for what it is. If they got the price down to $300 I think it would be more justifiable for what's really a novelty

    • @CanuckCreator
      @CanuckCreator  Месяц назад +2

      300 wouldnt even cover the BOM cost of the printer itself

    • @CanuckCreator
      @CanuckCreator  Месяц назад +3

      There's some clips of it printing interspersed through the video. But let's be honest it printing...is just a 3d printer printing. Just upside down.
      This video was more getting initial impressions and thoughts of the machine out there. Not a full on review.
      Ive got some recent livestreams on the channel featuring it printing if you want to see more
