    I think people that keep saying this printer is a gimmick just misses the point of this printer. Its goal is to be a portable printer with reasonable build volume, thus the upside down design and everything. It's a really niche product for specific types of ppl, imo this printer is perfect for digital nomad, people that travels around a lot, working around the world, a 3d printer that fits inside a filament box sounds fantastic. I've been following this project from the start, so glad LDO is making kit for it.

      @@catnipaddict126 Not sure if you're joking, but if trinkets and non-functional parts are the only things you print then yeah. This printer's niche is not for you.

      @@catnipaddict126 there's plenty of functional parts you can do with PLA and PETG. And if you bring an enclosure, you should be able to print ABS/ASA, it has the capability.

    Thank you to everyone who's watched!
    We are excited to finally bring this to market.
    We arent disillusioned by our own design - and we understand that this isnt for everyone, and it isn't in everyone's price range.
    If you want a good printer that can do 180³ build volume, get a Prusa Mini. They're amazing. But if you want portability, we designed this for you 🙃

    People are commenting on the price, but between the custom mainboard, custom metal parts and custom case I'm surprised its only $700 on preorder. It's a niche printer. If portability is not a killer feature for you then get something else. I don't have a need for it and I still think its awesome. Looking forward to the build!

      100% - we wanted to aim for the price range of a Voron V0, so our margins are super thin, but LDO and I believe that the price is fair for all the RnD we put into it.
      Even I still tell people to get a Prusa or a Voron, but if portability is your goal, then this is the best kit for it.

    If I see it a MRRF I'll look at picking one up just for the build. I am a bit disappointed though. As it was pointed out the case is larger for the additional options BUT.. its a large case, not excessively large but still large. I find a bit of irony in that the printers claim to fame is that it fits in a filament box.. but now we have a larger box and it hasnt got the capacity for a single roll of filament additionally :/

    • @nomadsgalaxy
      @nomadsgalaxy 4 месяца назад +2

      So this is intentional - the case is designed for airport travel, so the unit can survive being carry on or checked baggage.
      As such, we couldn't make space for Filament, mainly because the TSA has informed us that Filament looks like Det Cord, so we encourage people to ensure that their filament is packed separately.
      Otherwise, it still fits inside a filament box. So that is still an option 🙂

    I work construction and am on the road a lot. 3d printing has been my hobby for several years at this point and when I saw the video for positron v1 I fell in love. I have been waiting so long for it to be viable and at one point has given up hope. I recently started building a 0.2 because lugging around my ender is a hassle and because... Voron. Can't wait to build a positron! I do got to say that that guy sure doesn't sound like Kraylin though he has apparently been designing positron for years. Whatevs. This machine isn't the best fit for everyone, but it absolutely is for me, and damn if it isn't cool!

    what the fuck 850 bucks is a bit overpriced I think... I thought it would be a cool project to build one, but that is way over the budget for a small project like that... its not like its a super good printer I would use a lot... its more like a gimmick, to take somewhere sometimes to show ppl how cool 3D printing is

    • @CanuckCreator
      @CanuckCreator  4 месяца назад +5

      I mean, the design is open source, if you think you can make/sell kits cheaper go for it.
      But keep in mind it IS a niche product with many custom components and a low volume production run, when it comes to price, it is what it is.

    • @nomadsgalaxy
      @nomadsgalaxy 4 месяца назад +1

      We tried our best to match the price of a V0, there was a lot of RnD that was put into it, and a lot of custom components, as such, costs have to be recouped. The price will eventually go down in time, but if you think back to the first Laptop ever made, it was gimmicky and overpriced, but it was the start of something new.
