since im one of the first to comment thought id take the oppotunity since you might see this one to say that you're the reason i got into 3d printing. i got it for my birthday last year where the first thing i made was a stand for my Mjolnir that i made out of sheet metal and a steal rod. it took my a year and is pretty cool and if it was not for you i would not have found an aweseome hobby and community, so thanks man!
As someone who prints functional parts only, I'd love to see a comparison between the MK4 with an MMU3 and the XL. The idea of being able to print a box for instance with TPU seals built in would be amazing, among many other things.
@@krollmond7544 MMU3 doesn't support flexibles like the comment above said but contrary to what was mentioned in the video the Prusa XL does support them no problem. The toolheads are just normal MK4 Nextruders (rotated) and you do not need to load/unload flexible filaments like on a filament swapping system.
The Prusa XL has been the best purchase. I've had it for a year now and haven't had a single issue and the prints have been flawless and best part...........they are huge!!!
The toolchanges are so mesmerizing. I sometimes just manually change them. It's like when you get an electric drill and press the trigger a few times - just has to be done.
It's kinda crazy, I was at my local Airshow this year and Prusa was there with a vendor stall demo-ing the XL! Honestly super cool, seeing 3D printing getting out to the public at large. And I have to say, the XL is contending for my heart next to the Creality K1!
as someone who maybe has seen 2 or 3 videos on this printer. i came to the conclusion its the perfect printer. great size. best way for multi color with no waste. and its prusa. you are very lucky lol
After three years and 3,800 hrs with my i3 Mark I got the XL because I needed the large print volume for my full Halo Master Chief build. Besides printing all the leg and arm pieces as single pieces (GA files) I've printed the helmet as a single piece! Wish I had this when I did my Mando helmet. Like with my Mark 3 its just hit the start button and forget about it until it's done. And I can print at .2mm layer height and it's basically ready for priming without sanding except where there are supports but their 'organic supports' option is really amazing and a huge time & filament saver. Best decision I've ever made in 3D printing since buying the Mark 3/
Don’t understand, 6 channels so far of these older Prusa XL videos all ending in “what videos I wanna do with this printer etc” and not a single one of yall have done anything else with it 😂
Congrats on the XL! Super excited to see the comparison video(s). I have an AnkerMake M5, and was very interested in their color engine. Unfortunately that was canceled, so I'm looking for one to purchase. I kept forgetting about the early discounts on the K2, so didn't end up buying it at full price. Figured I'd wait until initial bugs are worked out. Anyhow, hope you enjoy working with the XL. It looks like an awesome machine.
Congrats on getting all that free stuff from Prusa! I am hoping tool changing is one of the things that becomes a common option for most printers at some point. Even just for using PETG as a support interface for PLA prints, let alone multi-color TPU prints, and even multi-material prints would be great options that open up so many possibilities. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
Thanks for the review, you deserve it!! You didn't answer my question when I asked, just that you could build the helmet for 600, but that's fine I'm getting my answers watching your MK39 vids! Well done, you worked very hard on detailing the build, just incredible! I would like to see you do a review on a Longer LK5 Pro, not like you need another printer though!
I'm curious what potential possibilities this printer might open up for combining flexible and rigid filaments in a single print. I.E. part of a chest piece or gauntlet with some parts hard for structure and others flexible for freedom of movement/comfort. I'm really excited to see what you have planned for this printer.
Hi Frank, excellent video! Sorry for the lengthy comment in advance. I was initially leaning toward the Prusa XL, thinking it would finally meet my needs, but after watching your video, I’m now unsure about whether it’s the right choice for my specific requirements. To give you some context, what I primarily need from a 3D printer isn’t necessarily speed, but precision. I often prototype intricate parts that must fit together with tight tolerances, so accuracy is key. I was initially drawn to the Prusa XL for its build volume, which I thought would be ideal, as my typical print heights range from 2” (50mm) to a maximum of 14” (356mm). While I mostly work with single-color prints, I’m also open to multi-color or multi-material options when needed, like the XL promises. However, the most critical aspect for me is achieving a smooth surface finish akin to SLA prints, but without the associated hassle of maintaining an SLA printer. I’ve heard that the Prusa XL’s slicer now includes the Arachne perimeter generator, which promises improved print quality, and that was something I found promising. Based on your extensive experience with various machines, I’d love to hear your thoughts on which printer would best meet these needs. Specifically, I’m looking for precision, ease of use, and the ability to deliver professional quality prototypes, without the maintenance demands of an SLA system. I trust your judgment and would greatly appreciate any suggestions or guidance on what to consider next in my search. Should I keep waiting or should I take the plunge? Thanks again for all the valuable content you create, it’s been a huge help!
Bro that price with everything is about $4,420 with all 5 heads, assembled and with the bundle kit. If I had the money to spend like that I would do get it. But I hope to see you print some stuff on it. Also I love the whole different heads option, it's so cool compared to filament poop. lol
Zamówiłem swoją XL 2 tygodnie temu. Czekam w dalszym ciągu na dostawę, ale po Twoim filmie nie mogę się doczekać. PS. @prusa - Szacun! Dobry marketing! :)
FedEx says my XL will be delivered Monday the 12th. Been using my Ender-3 S1 PRO and a Bambu Lab X1C with the AMS for quite some time now. Ok Prusa, show me what ya got
Was about to order one this week, great timing haha. As you've likely seen 3D Printing Nerd had some relative success printing flexible stuff with it, even different colors/ materials. It just stuck a little too well. I'm super excited for the potential of multi material, I do aircraft so doing rigid core stuff with lightweight skins will be great Was this the semi-assembled or fully assembled version? I know there's still a few assembly things even with the fully assembled one.
I was wandering how it can change material types. Pla and tpu together. I'm sure you've had cosplay ideas for it because I have. Definitely do a few of those on what works together.
I want to know what his workout routine is. He seems more and more built (irony intended) with each video. Cool printer. Would be curious to see how/if it can handle multi-material prints.
Wow, After watching hours of videos on K1's, Bambu and the AMS waste issues, the Prusa XL multi head system looks amazing. So wish it wasn't soo expensive tho. But with great size comes a beefy cost.
Definitely going to look forward to the comparisons between the multi-color printers. I was wondering if you’d include any add-ons for multi-color printing such as the mosaic palette 3?
On the fence, the long term savings and the hidden speed on multi-color is tempting... waiting to see what k2 plus does and will pull the trigger on one of these.
You should do a comparison with purged filament and print the same multicolor prints on bambu with their AMS and prusa xL with their toolhead and compare the waste. cool idea i think
Dunno if you already tried with the other multi-material systems but... may I suggest PVA filament for support structures? I've always been curious about that.
You should make a Dr. Doom, it would be a good idea because the next marvel movie is coming out soon and it would get more marvel fans to watch your video, and the current marvel fans that watch your video more intrigued
have you ever considered taking on commissions with your print farm for additional income? I'm having issues with my filament and printers and can't get enough printed correctly.
So. I know you were talking about multicolored prints, but how about multi material. I've heard that people use a material for supports (PLA I think) and another that doesn't adhere to it for the print itself. In a way to not waste the more expensive filaments on supports
You should try a Skeletor head (its got purple and green and black, Master Chief helmet or even a gun from a video game that visually have lots of color.
I feel like there are more shortcomings for this model in this price range than there should be. I haven't tried the XL, but judging from the videos and all the freebies sent out to youtubers, I'll keep my Bambu. Good video though.
Hey I was thinking of buying the Elegoo Neptune 3 pro but I saw a video where you said the Neptune 3 plus is really good should I spend the extra money on the plus or stick with the pro? I just wanted to ask someone who knows about 3D printers cause I’m new to it
That’s an extraordinary printer. At an extraordinary price. But you get what you pay for if you’re looking to buy one of these. I could see where this sort of set up could really be viable if you had an Etsy store and printed multi-colored things to sell. Be interested to see what you come up with to print on it. (Besides the IM helmet) 😎
Hi, have you seen the thread on Reddit where it says that Prusa prints some parts from PETG and when using an active chamber on XL these parts are deformed?
Hey frankly built, I 3D printed a sword from Elden ring, the starscourge greatsword and it's massive(btw you should do a project in it), but the handle broke and I don't know what to do any tips to help out?
How long does it take to switch between colors? Is there any purge or prime? Last night I started a 3-color print on my Bambu. 200 filament changes = 6.7 hours of time not printing. 10 hours into the 14-hour print it failed.
So I decided to paint an oni mask I made with some acrylic paint cause I figure that's the best to use. But after it dried I put it to my face and it still felt like it sticks some what can I put on it to mitigate that problem
Hey I was thinking of buying the Elegoo Neptune 3 pro but I saw a video where you said the Neptune 3 plus is really good should I spend the extra money on the plus or stick with the pro?

dear Prusa, If you want to bribe me it will total work 🤣
I subscribe to this too, i`m also in Europe.
A mk4 would go nicely with my mini plus.
Prusa is giving out awful lot of printers lately so we all get to pay more
lol, yes. Since I'm not willing to pay $3500 for 5 colors/materials but not tpu I would also love a good bribe
Yeah, I just can't justify that much.

@rayrayrun the first wave they released had issues, but most got fixed. It's probably more reliable than the Bambu printers currently.
