For me it was the other way around. When I moved to California, I went to the beach every day after college (Santa Barbara) and I took many trip out into the nature and went hiking. When I moved back to Germany, I did not move at all, since it is cold most of the year and I tend to stay inside because I hate cold weather, plus the good German bakery stuff and bread always adds up and I gain weight :D Also, in Cali many of my class mates were soo skinny, I felt like I needed to lose weight.

It's probably not so much about where you move to, it's just much easier to drop bad habits if you move places.

“Find a lifestyle I can stick to and enjoy without restricting self.”
“Fruit is like my candy alternative” (but don’t go overboard and be aware of calorie density of different fruits)
“Be honest with yourself”(about what you’re actually eating)
“Find healthier alternatives to what you enjoy” (eg make energy balls, make own peanut butter)
“Be in calorie deficit - eat high volume, low calorie” (eg eat berries more than bananas, high water content veg)
“Develop a routine - when to eat, what to eat, when to exercise”
    “Don’t compare yourself to others”
“Start slowly and keep going” (losing weight fast can result in yo-yo, bingeing, putting it all back on)

If you’re a parent reading this, and think the solution to your child’s weight issues will be for you to tell them you worry and that they need to find a way to lose the weight, then you are so off and will often time make the issue worse. Also know that eating disorders are about the emotions and an inability for the person to regulate their emotions. The food is their addiction and very rewardng and numbs their emotions. How you treat your child during their upbringing is key to avod them struggling with their weight. This is a psychological issue, not a food issue (the food and weight are symptoms of psychological issues)...hence why nutrition and physical activity knowledge and seeing a dietician are things that don’t work longterm, due to the core issues were not dealt with! *Asking your child about their emotions, listening to them talk about their experiences and not emotionally neglect them are ways to avoid these issues. This didn’t psychologically happen over night, it’s years in the making!* / Uni. psycholgy student

yes but at the same time: not the full picture. I had the most loving encouraging empathic parents imaginable who surrounded us with healthy food but never deprived us of a treat or demonized bad foods. Our mom did her best to teach us confidence and body positivity. BUT we got bullied. And my sister was rounder, then chubby, then overweight, now morbidly obese, it's been a long downhill trajectory since her 12th birthday and the body positivity turned into less sugary treats in the 4pm cupboard at home, became light expressions of concern in regards to her weight to now becoming very honest straight up worry due to the many many many health risks connected to it. All our lives our mom listened to our mental worries first. Parents teaching and showing how to balance healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle, and trying to be there for their mental health is not always enough. And sometimes informing your child about risks and diet in a safe and healthy way is preferrable to them delving into tiktok or online for unhealthy dietary advice

I just lost 6kg, only way I as able to do it is to stop visiting my mum everyday XD She just wants to feed me and when I say no she acts sad. I've been chubby all my life because my family would force me to eat, so I had no self control, still don't. BUT now I am really trying to lose weight and keep it off. I am trying to motivate my mum and dad to also lose weight because they are getting older. My sister is severly overweight but she doesn't want to lose weight, I think it is "faal angst" (fear of failure) she says she is "happy" being 120kg and only 160cm tall. I just weighed 70kg at 160cm I was 76kg.

I was one of those people as well and it took me a little while to understand the difference and the caloric content of ingredients (ie: nuts, granola etc) which we would consider healthy - and it’s not wrong - but not for fat loss.
Anyways, loved your videos! Happy you’re happy ❤

I think the healthy/unhealthy thing is so odd. Depends so much on what you compare it to. Like for me I was eating "healthy" in the sense that I ate a lot of vegetables, protein, varied food, but I just ate too much for my body. Like I would eat two avocados for lunch, and although avocados are "healthy" two of them was putting me in a calorie surplus. Tracking my food and making sure I was in a small déficit and strength training 3x times a week is what helped me. I ate the exact same, just a more appropriate amount for my body. And since I'm gaining mucle and losing fat I can more easily maintain my body as mucle is more metabolically active than fat.
Yes it's important to get the nutrients from food that has more vitamins and nutrients, but it won't help to eat "healthy" if you're not in a déficit. And you can be in a déficit only eating fast food as well, it's probably not going to give you the other benefits whole foods and vegetables has, but you could still lose fat.

I was always a healthy weight and then got leaner and more muscular from 19-21 years old. I was regularly 125lbs-128lbs. I’m 5’2” and that wasn’t too lean for my frame. Then I got pregnant with my son and gained 45lbs. It really showed on my frame and I really didn’t look healthy. I tried a lot of things, but finding someone who can help you find your macros and sticking with them with healthy/well balanced foods is a game changer. My second pregnancy, I didn’t gain any extra fat. Just the weight of the baby/amniotic fluid. Stay active even if it’s light and don’t starve yourself. Lots of protein! And lots of water!

  • @HtownAdel
    @HtownAdel Год назад +2

Loved your video but certain things shouldn’t be considered “unhealthy” it only becomes “unhealthy” when your eating these things in an over abundance. The best thing to do in my opinion, is take 3 things from each food group, Protein, fats, carb, starches etc, and create you plan from those things that you enjoy eating. There’s no need to find substitutions. For some people, being too restrictive will cause them to completely stop what their doing. Portion sizes are definitely key. You can have your cake and eat it too, but in moderation. Labeling things as “healthy” and “unhealthy” creates a bad relationship with food. This is just my opinion, as I’ve struggled with food my entire life until recently. I learned, it’s all about balance.

    2:41 It is normal!
Cats prefer fresh running water, and domesticated cats love tap water and prefer that, rather than luke warm water with dust in it that’s in their bowl that has been sitting out for several hours per day. This obsession cats have with fresh water is tied to their natural survival instinct, because fresh running water equals safe to drink. They look fun and cute though when they drink straight from the tap these lil fur-balls😂❤

hey jo, i love your story and your content is so helpful to someone with the same goals! when it comes to eating out, having a balanced diet, and going over your calories for the day/week, what do you recommend to balance out those unhealthy calories for the rest of the day/week?

Wow, she looks amazing, but you're right, it is a lifestyle and it's weird that some go vegan while other go carnivore,
and some are a little of both and they all work if you stick to it. I myself have found that carnivore was the easier
and best way to lose weight without even trying. So many benefits to the diet and if you eat just meat, eggs, seafood,
and cheese only you sleep better, no cravings or very little, but its nothing that is over powering.
Sleeping and waking up is easy and what I mean is that you don't drag yourself out of the bed. It's the moment you
open your eyes you can get up without hitting the snooze button over and over. Your breathing becomes better and
you can smell a lot better. You think clearer, no inflammation because you're not eating sugar and carbs. I say this
because eating something with a very low carb won't hurt, but remember that your body stops burning fat every
time you do and will store it instead. The benefits go on and there is a harvard study on this which shows amazing
    results.
Anyways I liked everything you said about how you got to where you are today and it pretty much what everyone does
on their journey to lose weight, we experience the yoyo effect if we're not serious about making it a life long change.
Lastly, I would say for anyone starting, that the most important part is diet because you can't out work it no matter
how hard you try. Learn to eat right and you will lose weight without working out even though its good to incorporate
    that later in your journey.
Good luck on your journey and I would suggest you at least give the carnivore diet a month for anyone just starting out
and you will be surprised. Don't cheat otherwise its just eating! Ciao
