Glad to hear you mention about coconut oil as it seems to be in everything of late. Sadly, for me every time I use it I develop milia. Also, most oils don’t seem to sink into my skin...they just sit there and I end up looking like an oil-slick...glad to understand why.
Hi Nerida Thank you for your videos. I checked rejuvi skin care line and I saw that almost all products have Methylparaben in it;( The line claims they are clean and don't contain parabens;( was I looking at the wrong items?
I'm asking this to all of the skin care people I respect, to discuss peptides, how they work, how to use them, and when to use them. What are the benefits of peptides? Are you talk about dry skin or normal skin to? I'm always interested in regeneration and ways to improve the skin but I don't have acne and I would love to hear your thoughts on more normal to dry skin and how to rejuvenate and keep the skin youthful and resilient
Graceful-Shakti peptides are chains of amino acids that work as messengers inside our bodies to do something/perform an act. There are different peptides used in skin care to help relax facial muscles, product more collagen and elastin, brighten the skin, among other things. They are used within many serums and treatment products to create change in the skin. They are generally non irritating and can be layered with other actives very well, when certain others should not be layered.
Graceful-Shakti Yes everything Devon said! Also, many (most? I’m not sure) peptides are created or “programmed” in a lab to perform a specific function. Pretty cool. 😊
Thank you, that was very helpful. Now the question is getting worse the civic, I guess I'd like to know which perform what function, and start incorporating them into my regimen I want to be savvy informed and wise so that I don't waste money and I I can get the best out of what I put on my face I'm not an estie, just skin obsessed
There are so many out there on the market... what are your specific concerns?? It would be easier to help narrow it down based on what you are looking for in your skin.
Yes, you guys answering here are awesome....thank you thank you:) Peptides are great, and there are many different types that all have specific functions on the skin. They are the body builders, but with out a great carrier they are useless. Another words, knowing what each one does doesn't mean it will do that for you when you use it, unfortunately:( Its all about the formulas and how they are designed.
Hi Nerida, thank you for this great and informative video. I have an oily T-zone and normal skin on the rest of my face. I do get some whiteheads and blackheads. Could I please check with you if in your opinion, it would be okay to use a couple of drops of rosehip or plant-derived squalene oil to do a facial massage every other night or so? Thank you in advance for your time.
Wafa Hussain I'm an esthetician...you could use it as a moisturizer. I've done it before. I usually cleanse, tone, serum, then use spf or an oil free moisturizer then spf on top.
Shelby Paolilli oh I am so glad we connected right now!!! I am 25 and usually prone to clog pores which usually turn into whiteheads. I am pale and any blemish I get turns into a red scar and just lingers (which is why I bought the vitamin c serum). I have been told to incorporate products with salicylic acid and retinol but have not done so yet. Which products would you reccomend for my concerns? Also what are some of the oil free moisturizers you would reccomend? Clinique dramatically different gel gives me small bumps!
Hi Nerida, I'm new esti. We want to add a facial machine may be like Microdermabrashion or bt micro...🤔 but, I really need your advice, what to get and is it really working as the said??...🤔please and TIA!!
Hi Rahel. I love the BT Micro. It is one of my favorite tools. When I was in esti school, I was able to purchase it for $250. A Microderm machine is thousands of $$. There is so much you can do and treat with the BT.
Hi Nerida, my mom had ordered the g aha serum, skin healing gel, and k facial cleanser from dermstore.com. I wanted to know how the packaging for the serum is in terms of the label on the bottle? Is it a sticker or printed directly on the bottle? I want to make sure this is authentic or not. Thank you for your help!
Hi Nerida!Thank you for all that you do!When i looked at the ingredients of the Rejuvi q flavonoid i saw that it contains essential oils :( could you please recommend another serum that contains bioflavonoids. Love from Sweden!
As Nerida has said... everything in moderation. When she is referring to certain ingredients that may not be right, she is referring to using that one ingredient straight on to the skin-i.e. straight coconut oil or essential oils directly onto the skin, or they are used in larger quantities in a formula. The essential oil used in the flavonoid complex is most likely used as a preservative in the formula, and in a small quantity being that it is at the bottom of the list.
Devon Pfeifer Nonetheless it contains essential oils, oils that i don’t want on my damaged sensitive skin.I would love it if Neida could recommend other ones that don’t contain essential oils.
The Q is a great product....also non-comedogenic.... will not clog pores:) There is not another I know of like the Q. It is an amazing product and great for all skin types because of how it supports the skin structure.
Hey nerida! A brit here , what do you think of the brand avene and their products, specifcally their cicalfate? , it has mineral oil high up on the ingrediants and I have pretty bad acne and oily skin! But other than that it seems a great product to try out , love your videos x
Zoey No I would alternate them on different days/nights. That would be too much, and could make it worse. Perhaps use your serum in the daytime, and then your normalizing cream at night.
No you don’t need the cream if you have the serum... one or the other is fine, but you don’t need both. Okay, are you oily? Get the light moisturizer, but I would also recommend the flavonoid complex. And make sure you use a good spf. If you can only get one or the other-the moisturizer or the flavonoid-get the flavonoid, and in the morning use your SPF as your moisturizer. AM: K cleanser, healing gel, aha serum, SPF PM: K cleanser, healing gel, flavonoid complex, aha serum This would be a good starting place for you, and you can build from there.
Hi Nerida. I got a bit late to watch the videos where you give such interesting advice to new estheticians, such a pity because I could have formulated my question to you then. But still, I would like to know your opinion about two topics (if you still read these questions of course): First of all, do you think that someone who has studied for becoming an esthetician but not worked in any beauty institute or spa, could anyway start her or his own business from scratch, without any previous experience? And second: Is it necessary that an esthetician gets a deal with an specific professional skincare brand? Thank you very much for your kind answers and have a good day!
hello Angela, It depends on the type of person you are, and, if you feel confident in opening a business without experience. Every ones journey is different, so if you are passionate about opening a business ...go for it:)) You choose your brands that make sense to you. Their philosophy and understanding of the skin should be similar to yours:))
Jojoba has a similar structure to the skin’s sebum, so it is good to use... I have used it as a massage medium on clients before. I’ve also used it in a pre-cleansing oil product. It’s not my favorite, but it is good.
I like squalene and jojoba oil, but not all are equal.... a squalene in one product may be great and in another not so. Its all about the formulas as a whole and the combinations when developed:))
Glad to hear you mention about coconut oil as it seems to be in everything of late. Sadly, for me every time I use it I develop milia. Also, most oils don’t seem to sink into my skin...they just sit there and I end up looking like an oil-slick...glad to understand why.
exactly! Thank you Susan:))
Wonderful information again.. Thank you for sharing your views and informing us about lab muffin.
happy to do so:))
What an amazing video Nerida!!! Will definitely follow her (Tamara in Atlanta)
Thank you xo.
I just checked her IG out. Wow, impressive, thank you!
Hi Nerida

What is a good makeup remover for congested skin. I've been using jojoba oil, but I fear it may be causing some little bumps.
Depend on the oil. , kiehls has wonderful oil for the face
Hi Nerida, Do you have a video on how to identify different skin problem during the consultation?
Not especially. That is done in my hands-on workshops...:)))

Annette L. Mix with your moisturizer and massage that way. If I’m going to use an oil, I generally like to blend it with something.
Thanks for sharing, Devon!
Devons advice is great...try it:)) Also, try it without and see how your skin is.
Thank you Nerida, much appreciated :)
Hi! Is the Image C vital c hydrating anti aging serum a good serum?
Wafa Hussain it is! I love it. I use it every morning.
Shelby Paolilli wondering if i can get away with using it as a moisturizer! I am a combination skin type.
Wafa Hussain I'm an esthetician...you could use it as a moisturizer. I've done it before. I usually cleanse, tone, serum, then use spf or an oil free moisturizer then spf on top.

Hi Nerida, I'm new esti. We want to add a facial machine may be like Microdermabrashion or bt micro...🤔 but, I really need your advice, what to get and is it really working as the said??...🤔please and TIA!!
Microderm stretches the skin and damages capillaries, so I would not go with that one. What about oxygen? or high frequency or the lights? xo
Nerida Joy , is there a brand you like or recommend...thank you so much!!
Hi Rahel. I love the BT Micro. It is one of my favorite tools. When I was in esti school, I was able to purchase it for $250. A Microderm machine is thousands of $$. There is so much you can do and treat with the BT.
Harper Smith , yes they also recommend ultrasound spatula, thank you!!
Interesting to hear you take on mineral oil. It does get a bad rap.
Very true too much of a good thing is not good" even skin care" especially if ya sensitive

Hi Nerida! Can i use g Aha serum and p normalizing cream together?
Zoey No I would alternate them on different days/nights. That would be too much, and could make it worse.
Perhaps use your serum in the daytime, and then your normalizing cream at night.
Thank u. What should i use after my g Aha serum? Light moisturizer or Aha cream perhaps? I'm trying to fade my acne scars and hyperpigmentation.
You have both, the AHA cream and serum?? What products do you have so far?
I have k cleanser, healing gel, g aha serum already. I'm trying to decide whether light moisturizer or aha cream?
No you don’t need the cream if you have the serum... one or the other is fine, but you don’t need both.
Okay, are you oily? Get the light moisturizer, but I would also recommend the flavonoid complex. And make sure you use a good spf.

Hi Nerida!... do you feel same way about jojoba oil and squalane oil too?
Squalane is naturally occurring in human skin, so it is not comedogenic at all. I'm not sure about jojoba oil.
Jojoba has a similar structure to the skin’s sebum, so it is good to use... I have used it as a massage medium on clients before. I’ve also used it in a pre-cleansing oil product. It’s not my favorite, but it is good.
