personally, my experience with most BP products are identical. I've tried Oxy, PanOxyl and generic brands (all not the US brands). You should try to find gel/cream BP that is fragrance free. I suppose (from my observation) that brands like Neutrogena, PanOxyl, Oxy, La Roche Posay, ZapZyt and Clean and Clear (all specifically in the US) offers these. You should check out Dr Dray's recommendation. I personally use 5% because i can tolerate it (my skin has developed tolerance since i've used BP for quite some time), have tried 10% and 2.5% as well, but as Dr Dray has mentioned in her previous video(s), try to avoid 10% on your face because it can be irritating. plus, 2.5% and 5% are just as effective as 10% with less irritation (anecdotally and based on the different claims i've read and watched so far). as for the vehicle, i have yet to try a BP wash and see if it is just as effective and less irritating as a gel/cream, the latter which i have only tried and used.
So you're only using cleanser & moisturizer only as of now? Because you said you apply moisturizer on wet skin so I suppose that after cleansing, you apply the moisturizer right away?
So interesting! I've been seeing so many sites say that mineral oil is awful for your skin but then baby oil exists and it's mineral oil? I'm so glad to hear that it's not bad for the skin. I've been using it with CeraVe and it seems to be keeping my skin moisturized and soft!
LEONESSA how do you know? I have cetaphil and aveeno lotion currently atm. I’m trying to decide which one is better for my skin. I’m very unsure about using aveeno on my face since it contains petrolatum(a mineral oil). I don’t know if it’s safe for my face in the long term. What do you think I should use?
@@michaelw7327 they are safe . Dr Drat as videos talking about petrolatum it's very good for dealing moisture and doesn't clog compared to natural oils
Thank you for spreading the truth about comedogenecity ratings and mineral oil, specifically. There are a few popular bloggers who insist that mineral oil and petrolatum clog pores, suffocate skin (whatever that means) and are unhealthy overall thereby misleading a potentially large number of people on perfectly wonderful ingredients.
My grandmother lived until 84 and had the most beautiful skin. I remember at night she would wear one of those silk hair bonnets and slather her face with baby oil (mineral oil). A cosmetic chemist told me that the best barrier against transepidermal water loss hands down is petrolatum, but it isn't very aesthetically appealing for use alone as a face cream, hence all the formulations.
I wish everyone that talks about skincare and ingredients and what they use or don't and why would watch this video!! Thank you Doctor for this video!!!!
I consider myself lucky...even when my skin was “oily” nothing ever clogged my pores. My skin still seems to love, thrive and react best to the “supposedly” pore-clogging ingredients like the much maligned silicones, petrolatum, mineral oil etc. under Sunscreen during the day and over Differin at night. I’m now loving Cerave, Vanicream and my much loved Clinique (the DDML lotion & Cream w/mineral oil and petrolatum)...also Clinique’s Moisture Surge Intense w/petrolatum. Isn’t Petrolatum/Mineral Oil “natural” ingredients since they come from the remains of creatures who once roamed the earth millions of years ago? Not sure. However, not ever having had any acne or acne breakouts, I can imagine it’s like walking through a minefield of ingredients! It must be beyond nerve racking to try different products while never knowing how it will affect an individual’s breakouts.
I've been looking into primers and stuff lately that contain silicone, since it's a good replacement for oils (since my skin is oily enough and oil is not so good for makeup staying together), and it's good to see a number of good channels taking the time to explain to the viewers that silicone is not at all comedogenic (it's in acne products and stuff, come on).
- Mineral oil is not pore clogging - the scale 0 to 5 (rabbit ear study on pore clogging) is outdated and not valid today for human - Break outs may not have something to do with pores Omgggg thanks u so much !!!!!!
Dr. Dray. Will you consider making a video on fragrance/chemical sensitivity and how it affects our health? Ex. Beauty, cleaning products etc. I recently became sick from inhaling a chemical product. I'm also looking for shampoo and soaps with little to no scent. Thank you!
“You are not a rabbit.” Lol. I first learned about this from a video by Lab Muffin, she said something similar. I’ve noticed that the one cream moisturizer that doesn’t break me out is CeraVe with mineral oil. Thanks for the great info!

Hi Dr Dray! Just wanted to tell you that I made those black bean brownies over the weekend. I substituted unsweetened applesauce for the coconut oil and they still came out great! Neither my boyfriend nor my daughter-in-law guessed the "secret ingredient"! I'm really enjoying catching up on all of your videos, especially the ones with your mom. Have a great day!
I love your advice to keep it simple. I just went to the dermatologist for a follow up and she recommended Cerave Am & Pm, Vanicream spf, staying away from fragranced products, and plant oils as they can tend to cause acne. Makeup recs were mineral powders, perhaps due to their simple ingredient lists...I didn't ask about that. You are on point!
Thankyou so much for clarifying this for us. I was always told by salespeople at the mall that certain products would "clog my pores" up so I stayed away from them . Since I have been listening to you I have bought some incredible products right down the street at my local Walgreens and I love them! Your so right Dr Dray we don't need to go to the counters to get all these super expensive products when we can get products that have proven ingredients in them at the drugstore. Thankyou!!
I’m so confused because ingredients that i’m reading that are apparently “pore clogging” are in non comodgenic moisturizers such as cerave, vanicream, and cetaphil.. i don’t get it
Non comedogenic means it has not yet been confirmed comedogenic unless a whole bunch of people have complained enough...it's all marketing...cigarettes were not cancerous until enough was enough...marketing
I always used makeup remover wipes listed as „oil free“ since I was always told mineral oil is „pore clogging“.... but makeup removers were not only irritating for my skin that’s being treated with Differin/Benzyol peroxide. I must say I was suspicious using mineral oil on my already oily oily skin... but it worked better than any makeup remover and it was so soothing!!!! Now I use mineral oil, gentle cleanser, cerave night cream and differin.... before I found you on RUclips I wouldn’t even moisturize at night with my differin!!! 😳
Absolutely love all your videos! Ive been binging on all the knowledge you've been dropping! At 34 yrs old I now have a skin care routine thanks to you! Thank you SOOO much!!!
I do not care what anybody says about you. I have such an admiration for you! I was getting so sick and tired of hearing x procuct is braking me out and shea butter is to be feared and dimethicone is an ingredient from the de..l. You have such an honest, gentle and non-judging way about making clear how all that research was and should be interpreted now. Not based on studies conducted ages ago, and not even on human skin. Don't think x product is the cause per se. You might be going into menopause. You might have put on just put on another brand of makeup or put that stuff on and too often. Why is it that it's always the products are to blame, even if they are the ones that possibly could help us the most? We are living in a circle. Thank you Dr. Dray for giving it to us gently! I just wish I could put it as gently and scientifically as you, lol...
THANK YOU! FINALLY, someone said it: Marketing! ;) My own experience: I don't have acne, I have dry skin. I moisturize my face every day with pure vaseline and I never ever break out. However, when experimenting with unrefined coconut oil as a moisturizer for my face , I always always "break out." Maybe it's the fact that it's more viscous than other oils and therefore it "hardens" the sebum and so, clogs pores. I can use it on my body and it's amazing for that, but not on my face :/ Anyway, superb video Doc, as always! :) Greetings!
Hey There Luka if you have dry skin then you will need more than vaseline, although it's good to prevent moisture from escaping it doesn't moisturise. I have dry skin (as well as hormonal acne, boo) and one of the best things I've done is cut out foaming products with sls in it. SLS is a harsh detergent and just strips the skin
Hi Dr Dray, I really liked your video on Vaseline on the face, and I really wish you could make one on glycerine, I've heard so many people complimenting glycerine use on their face being a a great moisturizer on its own. I need your confirmation please. Thanks again 😘

I've been on a skin detox for 3 months now because I was layed off due to coronavirus. My skin looks great after 3 months no makeup. I wear it to work and sometimes when I go out, well I haven't been doing either.

Not sure if there is a Trader Joe by you but they make a coconut milk creamer. It’s really creamy and doesn’t taste like coconut at all. The brand So Delicious also makes it. That’s what i use in my coffee/tea.
Hey Amanda, I also do break put on dairy sometimes, milk mostly not yoghurt, but also check on coffee, it does make my skin congested, so please check both dairy and coffee
I have used mineral oil in my moisturizer (Nivea blue tin, I am extremely dry) for literally ages. I'm 45 and I was dry in my teens too (not due to other products, just like that). I have had acne (cystic) on dry skin in my late 20s but the Nivea never worsened it, on the contrary even. It soothed the dryness of the products I had to use that particular time, before my dermatologist started prescribing me lotions and potions with moisture in them (specially made by the pharmacist). I don't get the entire "mineral oil free", "oil free" kind of thing. I have used sweet almond oil (now hyaluronic acid) my entire life underneath my moisturizer too. I am just that dry. :)
Cera ve daily moisturizing lotion clogs my skin worse than any other product I've ever used. I did not believe it at first, took several attempts to figure this out
Dr Dray, you probably won't see this as it's an old video. I'm curious about millia. In the fall/winter I had dozens and now I have none. I'm not super prone to them. Nothing in my skincare changed except I no longer wear a foundation I was only wearing during that period.
Ugghh...I am 57, post menopausal and I still get acne! My skin is very oily. It’s so disheartening! But I really feel like it’s better since I’ve been following your advice. ❤️
I never had acne, period, heavy makeup, facial oils...however, the ONLY thing breaks me out is SUNSCREEN! both chemical and physical..I just can't wear sunscreen! Now I'm so scared to try any sunscreens as it took month to recover...
This was such a good video. Since discovering your channel, ive really stopped searching for products as you mention. Marketing for these products really take advantage of consumers and i love how you take us to school! Ive since minimized foundation usage, and I bought Elta Md tinted sunscreen/been using cerave almost exclusively. Since, my skin has been so much better. Thank you for sharing knowledge Dr. Dray.
Awesome. Foundation generally shouldn't break someone out, since it's designed to not be absorbed through the pores, even if there is makeup inside the pores, but you do want to make sure it's properly cleaned off afterwards, with an oil or cold cream or whatever and then all washed off in the shower afterwards with a face cleanser. People put on a LOT of foundation, when you can get away with so much less (Wayne Goss on youtube is pretty good for this). Also no-foundation looks have become so much more popular, and they look really good, even with skin that has things to cover up. I much prefer that look. Just a primer if you want it, then concealer only in places where it's needed and blended up well, and then a tiny amount of setting powder if you want. Then the skin generally looks flawless. Or if there's red spots to cover up, mixing the concealer with some green concealer and THEN applying the mixture is the go. People tend to get a little excessive with this stuff (which is fine if they wanna!).
Thank god I watched this video you made things much easier than others who keep telling refer to a list and keep analyzing every ingredient in the list and I notice some of them didn't cause me breakout as they said and every skin is different
Can you do a video on glossier cleansing products and their creams? Hard to decipher whether these extremely hyped products are really worth it. Thanks! Love from Canada! :)
Cerave clogs my skin real bad. I’m convinced it’s the combination of cetearyl alcohol and cetearth 20. Also I hate the tingle it causes every time given it’s supposed to be a soothing moisturiser
Hi Dr.Dray, i recently found something interesting was that ever since i started using body lotions on my face my skin has never been so smooth, hydrated (sticky), and bright. :D I use the aveeno skin relief and curel fragrance free lotion. These two gotta rid all the dry flakes for me and my mom. Im curious to what are some recommended body lotions (aren't too thick) from these brands (eucerin, curel, aveeno, cerave) for face? and whether or not body lotions are safe to use on the face. Thank you for all the tips for skin care you give, I'm super happy there is a dermatologist available to teach the truth about skin care,
Lately, I've been using a very light amount of vaseline on the dry spots of my face and it has helped. Any concerns with vaseline on the face? It seems like a tiny bit under the eyes helps with the dryness / crow's feet. I have been looking at ingredients lately and it seems that my beloved Vanicream is just glorified Vaseline.
My face does not like mineral oil or petrolatum at all. I tried the Ponds Cold Cream and my face started breaking out. I stopped using it and my face cleared up. I tried using Vaseline as an occlusive layer and I broke out. Stopped and my face cleared. I bought a Micellar water that contained mineral oil and my face started breaking out again. I wish I could use these products, but at least I know what to avoid.
Currently trying to skin detox and I have acne so when I go to church I must wear makeup because I just can’t but I will come home and instead of wearing it all day I will remove it ASAP. Hope this helps my 36 yr old new acne breakouts (cystic pimples) 👀. Minimizing my skin care routine. And hoping that my Nars radiant tinted moisturizer with SPF doesn’t hurt as bad as all the other horrible foundations I’ve been putting on my face.
thank you doctor. your info is very helpful. Could you please give your opinion on whether or not coconut oil and its derivatives trigger acne. I have relied on the ratting system for many years because I get cystic acne which leaves ice pic scars, Formulas of brands on which I have relied like cetaphil and differin are now including coconut oil derivatives in the cleanser ingredients. I am afraid to try them
This is great information and fascinating to me -- never knew how these ideas came to be and how marketing distorts the science. We're not rabbits! ; ) Thanks for this video, Dr Dray!
I have oily skin and any carrier other than water would break me out if it's in a high percentage. Even propanediol (in a product in which it is in the first place in the list of ingredients) broke me out like there's no tomorrow. Actually, I felt uncomfortable since the very first moment I put on that product. I felt as if I had a sticky film all over my face. I guess most of the times you just have follow your gut feelings. If it doesn't make you feel right, then it's a no go.
I actually stopped using the Ponds products because my dermatologist told me everything with mineral oil should be eliminated. I have had such a hard time staying moisturized since then. This is a huge eye opener
Did you receive a diagnosis of milia? I ask because I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about what milia actually are...I think you may be confusing closed comedones with milia.
Dr Dray, in my country I can’t find CeraVe, Vanicream or Cetaphil face creams and I really don’t know which of european skin care brands have similar ingredients like this american brands. I can’t order from amazon, or ebay or any other sites because they don’t send to Serbia or if they do, than the shipping is so ridiculously expensive. Thank you 😊
I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy your videos and appreciate all of your knowledge! I tell all my friends about Dr. Dray!! I will see you tomorrow!
Hello Dr. Dray, can you comment on this controversial pore-clogging ingredient "isopropyl myristate" in Retin-A cream? It seems contradicting to me that this cream is supposed to fight acne, but yet clog pores.
Thank you so much for debunking the whole pore clogging/this stuff breaks me out myth! Finally someone with an actual knowledge of dermatology steps up👍👍
is talc and mica pore-clogging by any chance? sorry for the abundant questions haha, you just taught me to be more aware of what you're putting onto your skin so thank you.
Dr. Dray that was what I was thinking too in testing products on animals. Our skins are not the same as rabbits. They should test on people to know for sure if and how it reacts to human’s skins. They think animals can have acne, so it’s logical to test if this creams will caused acne on human.
Can someone explain to me why they didn't do studies on skin on the HUMAN FACE? I mean, I understand, that not many people would like to participate(scared of pimples), but If they were paid good amount of money...we would solve the pore clogging mystery. Why not skin of the face? :(
Dear Dr. Dray, thank you for your videos. I have learned a lot and I appreciate the time you take in creating these educational videos. I wonder if you could suggest some “spot” acne treatments. Thank you again for your time.
I'm really confused about something , I had used the LRP cica balm on my whole face one night, including under eyes and eyelids and the next morning I wake up with tiny bumps - (not red , not painful, not anything like a pimple ) around my eyes and I am pretty sure it was milia
Dr dray can you please discuss Isopropyl Myristate, it is in every generic Tretinoin formula and it has high comedogenic rate. It is strange because Tretinoin is supposed to help acne so why is this ingredient in every formula? Also I noticed every time I use Tretinoin cream I get pore clogging pimples due to the Isopropyl Myristate.
I involved too many skin products along with tretinoin into my routine. I don’t know what exactly is causing me clogged pores. Slugging, tretinoin or maybe heavy moisturizers on my combo skin ? I have to figure out 😢
Thank you dr dray....I’ve been making myself crazy about clearing out all my skin care products that have any kind of sulfates, parabens, and glycols and It was literally everything I currently used..I saw a video saying all those products are toxic and cause cancer...I just watched 6 of your videos and I’m so relieved now that I’ve seen them.....
Thank you for this transparent information. Your humor makes it all the more enjoyable. What are the causes of the sacs under the skin that have to be removed completely to prevent regrowth. I had one that showed itself with an enlarged pore. GROSS! I continually emptied until I fiinally had it removed. Is there a prevention? Does this start from a clogged pore?
Thanks! Cysts and dilated pore of winer are common benign skin growths...the cause is not really known but it has nothing to do with clogged pores or skin care products
Hey. I have a combination acne-prone skin, my dermatologist advised me to use Noreva Exfoliac GEL MOUSSANT DOUX, but I noticed that it has a COCONUT ACID as an ingredient. I know that coconut oil may cause breakouts, what do you think about that?
I would love to watch your videos but I wish you’d put the time for topics in the bio ): I just don’t have time to sit and watch 20 minutes for history I just want answers. Not trying to be offensive at all- I think you’re very intelligent and I enjoy your recommendations.
In a future video, if you have not already, could you talk about folliculitis? I randomly once got some on my cheek, and it wasn’t that big of an issue but was annoying.
Thank you, another informative video! Can you make a video on your opinion about facial oils? I've been using rosehip seed oil and considering marula oil, wondering if those are effective in skincare routine or just mostly marketing claims?
Hi Dr Dray! I really enjoy watching your videos and learning from you! My primary skin concern is blackheads on my nose. I recently started using a salicylic acid cleanser, and am hoping that will help. Is it appropriate to have a facial with extractions?
ask your dermatologist....some lesions of acne are ideally suited for comedo extraction, but not all....if not done by someone who knows what they are doing then there is a major risk of scarring
@@wolfsyn7741 yes she has no idea what she is talking about. Even her info is inconsistent. In another video she said that mineral oil doesn't clog pores it just may clog oil glands so it creates acne. The thing is many people with acne have hyper sensitive oily skin or both and the presence of any thick substance will make it hard for the sebum to flow outside and it WILL clog pores. What that study shows is that normal people who don't suffer from acne wont get clogged pores from mineral oil. It wasn't done specifically on acne prone skin . Not to mention many other "board-certified" dermatologist will disagree with her. And no it is not other ingredients that broke me out it's pure mineral oil with it's thickness that anyone with acne will know that it will give them a break out especially on the skin. The way mineral oil looks and feels is also another story especially for oily skin. At least she should make a disclaimer saying that's it's safe for normal skin not necessarily for acne prone skin.
Das Sir Pores and oil glands are the same thing so I know you’re misquoting her about that. What she has actually said is that mineral oil is too large to penetrate pores. And a study showed no direct correlation with mineral oil and acne. And no it wasn’t just done on “normal people”. Whatever that means, considering the majority of Americans suffer from acne. Including me with my oily skin. Yet mineral oil doesn’t clog my pores. Mineral oil DOESN’T clog pores. It’s can’t. It may be too occlusive when worn for long periods of time which make cause your sebum to build up. But that doesn’t mean you can objectively and scientifically assert mineral oil will clog pores or will cause acne. That’s not how science works.
@@wolfsyn7741 dont try to teach me how science work. You are just making circles around the issue by saying it may be too occlusive and that it can make sebum build up. I told you that even if it may not clog pores by iteself it will make sebum buildup and dead skin mixture way too thick. Guess what sebum building up just during one day for a lot of acne sufferers can mean a huge break out. Mineral oil is not advised for oily skin. Most dermatologists will tell you that. If it works for you great but going online and making it life mineral oil is safe for acne skin is misleading.
Dr. Dray. I bought the Cerave moisturizer in the jar after your video. I found that I ended up with a layer of what felt like wax after about an hour. Can you please explain this and if this means that the moisturizer is not a fit for my skin? Thank you
Dra. Dray hope you notice me Hehe Im from philippines I have a question and hope you answer me Is’t true that drinking coffee or eating chocolates can cause acne?
Lol so true about the diy remedy thing! Ugh I tried to use coconut oil for acne and wrinkles along with an Arsenal or lotions and potions and it is so true that the more junk I put on my face the worse my break outs got...
Erin McIntosh patch test for sure one small area of your face I know most oily skin combo don’t do well with it but you have to patch test regarding whether your skin likes hyaluronic acid alone as a moisturizer or if you layer cerave does have fatty ingredients which is good but if you are oily prone to clogging patch test always and see I always patch test after the gym that’s when my skin is super sensitive I can tell right away

- Mineral oil is not pore clogging
- the scale 0 to 5 (rabbit ear study on pore clogging) is outdated and not valid today for human
- Break outs may not have something to do with pores
Omgggg thanks u so much !!!!!!
Dr. Dray.
Will you consider making a video on fragrance/chemical sensitivity and how it affects our health? Ex. Beauty, cleaning products etc. I recently became sick from inhaling a chemical product. I'm also looking for shampoo and soaps with little to no scent. Thank you!
Dr. Dray's Mini Grand Rounds. Time well spent.
:)
“You are not a rabbit.” Lol. I first learned about this from a video by Lab Muffin, she said something similar. I’ve noticed that the one cream moisturizer that doesn’t break me out is CeraVe with mineral oil. Thanks for the great info!
Lol! Thanks Ms Sherry :)
this you are not a rabbit line cracked me up too :D
What cerave cream is made w mineral oil????
😂😂😂 yeah, the "you are not a rabbit" got me cracking too 😂
@@jessicagalyon5840 cerave moisturizing cream has petrolaum in it wich is basically vaseline. Vaseline and mineral oil comes from the same product.
The foot cream with SA also has it.
Have a great day!
so tasty!!
You are on point!
thanks!
I love her message of going back to basics; it is saving coins already. Thanks Dr Dray!
I use a lot of Korean skin care I fell like if I go to dermatology they will put me just on cerave and retinol 😢
I love how sensible you are!
thanks!
Thankyou!!
:) glad to hear this helped
I’m so confused because ingredients that i’m reading that are apparently “pore clogging” are in non comodgenic moisturizers such as cerave, vanicream, and cetaphil.. i don’t get it
Non comodogenic products generally tend to not clog pores but not all products that are meant to not clog pores, are comodogenic
TiffanyScully what brand of mineral oil do you use to remove your makeup?
Thank you for wading through the truths, myths and inconsistencies of this topic. You certainly are a great educator. Rita
:) Thanks!
Absolutely love all your videos! Ive been binging on all the knowledge you've been dropping! At 34 yrs old I now have a skin care routine thanks to you! Thank you SOOO much!!!
Your skin looks great today, seems to be glowing.
thanks!
THANK YOU! FINALLY, someone said it: Marketing! ;)
My own experience: I don't have acne, I have dry skin. I can use it on my body and it's amazing for that, but not on my face :/
Anyway, superb video Doc, as always! :) Greetings!
Hey There Luka #teamvaseline 😁
coconut oil alone is not great on the skin
Hey There Luka if you have dry skin then you will need more than vaseline, although it's good to prevent moisture from escaping it doesn't moisturise. I have dry skin (as well as hormonal acne, boo) and one of the best things I've done is cut out foaming products with sls in it. SLS is a harsh detergent and just strips the skin
Thank you! I’m a single mama with a toddler so i like self care and stuff but can’t really afford a dermatologist..so thank you again..:)
Hi Dr Dray, I really liked your video on Vaseline on the face, and I really wish you could make one on glycerine, I've heard so many people complimenting glycerine use on their face being a a great moisturizer on its own. I need your confirmation please.
Thanks again 😘
Hi dr dray love your videos im sure a lot of people (including me) would really appreciate if you would do an international skincare products testing or things like natural ingredients testing like rice water toner or something like that
I ABSOLUTELY love your videos but sadly dont have access to cerave and alot of products I can only find neutrogena oil free and all the moisturizers here aren't good at all for my skin
I've been on a skin detox for 3 months now because I was layed off due to coronavirus. My skin looks great after 3 months no makeup. I wear it to work and sometimes when I go out, well I haven't been doing either.
Thank you for your videos! I've been bingeing on your videos for a few weeks now, and I changed my skin routine, and my oily skin with hormonal acne got so much better after I started following your recommendations! Thank you so much for your time!
Thanks for watching :)
I just want you to know your videos have helped me so much thank you for taking the time to make them
thank you so much!
Thank you again for the helpful information! I started writing some of your tips and advice in a notebook to help me keep track of things! It’s hard to go back sometimes to try to remember where I heard you talking about stuff. Love this channel! Definitely a fave find for 2017!!!
thanks! glad to ehar Ms Jenn
The older I get it seems that my pores get bigger😔. Thank you Dr Dray 💐
frustrating i know :)
@Ginger D. Argh.. who knew? At 57 people are always commenting on my lack of wrinkles (good genetics :) ), but I never anticipated this pore thing, and what I lack in wrinkles I make up for with that.. I'd rather have more wrinkles.. I think the laugh and smile lines are much more attractive than the pores. Hopefully they reach a point where they stop enlarging :) :)
@@oliviad6713 I'm trying to figure out what would be the best cream to put on the skin I'm assuming it needs to have silicone there is nothing wrong with silicone I'm trying to find something that you put on your skin slips into the pores and kind of camouflage as them and I can't and I don't know what to do do you have any ideas please help me
Yet another amazing video! Thank you so much for this valuable information. I definitely love skin care and educating myself on ingredients and testing products but having all that information from you helps so much and debunks myths I've read over the years!
I have discovered dairy breaks me out. My skin was so clear without it, and now I'm breaking out again from drinking milk with my coffee.
yeah there is an association with fat free dairy and acne
Not sure if there is a Trader Joe by you but they make a coconut milk creamer. It’s really creamy and doesn’t taste like coconut at all. The brand So Delicious also makes it. That’s what i use in my coffee/tea.
The association is dairy in general
Hey Amanda, I also do break put on dairy sometimes, milk mostly not yoghurt, but also check on coffee, it does make my skin congested, so please check both dairy and coffee
Amanda Phillips There are alternatives If you want a sweet milk try rice, for nutty try almond, and for nutrent rich try pea
I love Nivea in the blue tin as well. I use it everywhere. My face loves it too.
such a gimmick for sure
Depends on ur pore size. Mineral oil makes my skin look horrible and literally gives me cystic acne
Cera ve daily moisturizing lotion clogs my skin worse than any other product I've ever used. I did not believe it at first, took several attempts to figure this out
“You’re not a rabbit!” - I felt that.
Toni 🤣🤣
same! :D
I saw this video awhile ago and today I saw my pores are clogged 😱😱😱 and I had to refreshed my memory, thanks Dr Dray!!!
:)
Hi Dr Dray, thanks for another great informative video. I really appreciate the time and energy you put into these videos to educate us. Hugs, Susan
Thanks for watching!
I am glad to hear things are getting better Ms Monna. It is frustrating
I never had acne, period, heavy makeup, facial oils...however, the ONLY thing breaks me out is SUNSCREEN! both chemical and physical..I just can't wear sunscreen! Now I'm so scared to try any sunscreens as it took month to recover...
Exactly like me :( What you have been doing then? Just try to stay out of the sun?
The same, all sunscreen gives me problems
Look into dr cynthia baileys sunscreens
Same problem with me... all sunscreens irritate... which face moisturizer suits you...??
This was such a good video. Since discovering your channel, ive really stopped searching for products as you mention. Marketing for these products really take advantage of consumers and i love how you take us to school! Ive since minimized foundation usage, and I bought Elta Md tinted sunscreen/been using cerave almost exclusively. Since, my skin has been so much better. Thank you for sharing knowledge Dr. Dray.
Thank you so much Ms Alexis! I am so happy to hear things are better
Same I hate this brand
Same
It has the same ingredients as vanicream and they both break me out
Thank you for giving me the most practical, understandable info ever!
This might be the most helpful video on the whole of RUclips. Thank you.
thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for all this information! You are appreciated greatly... sue
Thank you ms sue! hope you are having a good monday
I'm so happy. We have the same mug, just different wording 😂❤️ I love my big mug. So handy. From New Zealand
Foundation can be problematic...no tell tale ingredient, but can really build up on the skin and be irritating
thank you doctor. your info is very helpful.
We're not rabbits! ; ) Thanks for this video, Dr Dray!
yeah it is confusing for everyone, dermatologists included
Hi dr dray - what if the product has comedogenic ingredients but also acne fighting ingredients? Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract(70%), Methylpropanediol, Glycerin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Niacinamide, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Citrus Unshiu Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylene Glycol, Adenosine, Panthenol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Sorbitan Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, 1,2-Hexanediol, Carbomer, Arginine, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA
I can not get rid of blackheads on my nose I use all the recommended products n I still get them so bad the texture is horrible!!!!!
frustrating, i know
I have oily skin and any carrier other than water would break me out if it's in a high percentage.
This is a huge eye opener
you are so clear and firm about milia but the only times I've ever had them were also the only times I used eye creams.. coincidence?
Did you receive a diagnosis of milia? I ask because I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about what milia actually are...I think you may be confusing closed comedones with milia.
Dr Dray probably yes! Thanks for answering my questions!
Dray!! I will see you tomorrow!
thank you so much!
Hello Dr. Dray, can you comment on this controversial pore-clogging ingredient "isopropyl myristate" in Retin-A cream? It seems contradicting to me that this cream is supposed to fight acne, but yet clog pores.
I address this here…”pore clogging” is not reliable
@@DrDrayzday the one moisturizer i use is a body lotion with that as the fourth ingredient. I am acne prone but this doesn't break me out.
Thank you so much for debunking the whole pore clogging/this stuff breaks me out myth! Finally someone with an actual knowledge of dermatology steps up👍👍
Thanks for watching
is talc and mica pore-clogging by any chance? sorry for the abundant questions haha, you just taught me to be more aware of what you're putting onto your skin so thank you.
Thank you again for your time.
thanks!
:)
I can predicatably create milia under my eyes by using certain thick balms. They go away if I stop.
“You are not a rabbit” - keeping it real! Thanks doc☺️ Sometimes we just have to hear the simple truth.
:)
Hi, from Mongolia. Cerave PM contains Cetearyl Alcohol+Ceteareth 20 and Polyglyceryl 3+Diisostearate. Don't those ingredients clog pores?
Thank you Dr. Dray. Thank for reminding us to take a proactive step instead of reactionary step.
thanks!
Dr Dray please check out Thayer witch hazel that is unscented and Alcohol free and what are your thoughts on Phisogel for sensitive skin. Thanks
I really thank you for all ur great videos! It really helped my son with his dry skin and his very dry lips.
I am so happy things are going well for himl :) thanks!
Bless you for educating the public (and for keeping people like me from spending a fortune in Sephora)!!
Thanks Ms Vicki!
You are such a ray of sunshine. Thank you!
Lol T “ you are not a rabbit”
thanks!
What about cetyl alcohol, glyceryl stereate, myristic acid, oleic acid
Hey. I have a combination acne-prone skin, my dermatologist advised me to use Noreva Exfoliac GEL MOUSSANT DOUX, but I noticed that it has a COCONUT ACID as an ingredient. I know that coconut oil may cause breakouts, what do you think about that?
Hey Dr, is glycerine good for the skin? Please tell!!!
I would love to watch your videos but I wish you’d put the time for topics in the bio ): I just don’t have time to sit and watch 20 minutes for history I just want answers. Not trying to be offensive at all- I think you’re very intelligent and I enjoy your recommendations.
when i do that people ask redundant questions because they skip key infomation they assume they dont need to know or is not relevant to them
That was amazing! I dont even know how to thank you for taking your time to sharing all of this
thanks for watching!
Very informative video. Rare to see actual useful knowledge compared to the popular opinionated stuff.
In a future video, if you have not already, could you talk about folliculitis? I randomly once got some on my cheek, and it wasn’t that big of an issue but was annoying.
Does the very popular: Nivea Creme and Nivea Creme soft clog pores?
Yes
Yes
Thank you, another informative video! Can you make a video on your opinion about facial oils? I've been using rosehip seed oil and considering marula oil, wondering if those are effective in skincare routine or just mostly marketing claims?
don't use those oils
What is the best moisturizer and sunscreen for comedone prone skin? Im currently on epiduo forte once a day.
Is isopropyl palmitate can cause breakouts/ acne everyone?
Very informative, Dr. Dray. Could you also do a video about PCOS Acne?
CeraVe caused me to have breakout horribly. I did a little research and it's actually very common to have a bad reaction to it.
Cerave is horrible. I tried it yesterdag and woke up to cystic acne. Mineral oil does clog pores this lady has no idea what she is talking about
Das Sir Yes, a board-certified dermatologist has no idea what she is talking about because a product possibly, anecdotally broke you out.
Thank you
Dra. Dray hope you notice me
Hehe
Im from philippines
I have a question and hope you answer me
Is’t true that drinking coffee or eating chocolates can cause acne?
Well Ik that eating unhealthy may cause acne but I heard it was for some people not everyone
Can i use a mist with ethylhexyl palmitate if i have acne??
“What I want you to realize and educate yourself on is that you are not a rabbit.” Girl, I just died 😂😂😂💀
Thank you for empowering me through your educational videos Dr. Dray!
Thanks!
Lol so true about the diy remedy thing! Ugh I tried to use coconut oil for acne and wrinkles along with an Arsenal or lotions and potions and it is so true that the more junk I put on my face the worse my break outs got...
Is capric triglyceride safe to use in moisturiser and "non comedogenic"? I'm really prone to closed comedones and I dont want this to get worse.
CathyMe123 it’s a heavy emollient from coconut oil it’s not coconut oil but it has fragrance I would stay away
I was wondering the same thing. It is in so many products, including the Cerave moisturizers she recommends, so I assume she thinks it's OK.
It's not comedogenic.
