I love you. Huge Tool fan
Just joined as a member, wanting to share my music with you and the world now that I am ready, how do I do this? :D Huge fan, back when Punk Rock MBA had 100k subscribers, man.
Or should I have signed up for the patreon and I did it wrong lol sry, Asperger's is real homie, 😅
My very first boss, Steve "Krusher" Joule, designed those Ozzy covers (I assisted him on "The Ultimate Sin") as well as Iron Maiden's covers, & just about anyone you can think of from that mid-late 80s Era. He did all that lettering by hand! He also did KERRANG!'s first logo. He was in VERY high demand those days & we were making money hand over fist! He posts videos over on his Facebook, stories of some of the crazy 💩 that went on. I HIGHLY recommend you go check it out! He's a National Treasure!
if there was a horse statue I would have also looked for the weenor thats prob normal
Every time Tool is mentioned it just becomes a 10 minute roast session
As a massive Tool fan, I agree with most of what he says lol.
@@DedicatedSpirit8 he’s definitely just trolling though like saying you won’t even listen to the album but they suck, But also Viper is great. Us big brain Tool fans can take it though lol
@dakrazypenguin I used to be a spiritual/miracle Tool fan. I'm still big on their stuff but I also grew up 😆
@MyBeautifulDarkTwistedSilentPlanet the way I see it all I’ve ever done is listen to the music and enjoy it. I can’t control how other fans act or how non fans view people who like tool. Simply I like to listen to the music I think the drums and bass specifically are awesome in most of their songs. The roasting is all good lol
thats why we love finn
Finn doesn't dare listen to Tool, because he is afraid he would love it.
That’s why I don’t t listen to nu metal
This is 100% accurate. 10,000 days is a masterpiece
@@eliweber4757
Do it brother... give in to the darkside
@@gingeranagram2467 and lateralus. god damn brilliant album
Finding a copy of Enema of the State in my older sister's bedroom when I was 8 was a combined musical and sexual awakening. No album art has ever come close to having the effect that one did.
Why were u snooping in your sisters room?
@@piratealeks6865 "sexual awakening"
wtf how did I never realize whats happening. I thought it was just a funny nurse
Me leaving my last breath on my death bed
- …”listen to… Lateralus.. Finn…”
My son - “who’s Finn?”
I can never tell if Finn is serious or joking.
He's serijoking.
@@thelastdaybreathinginetern1385 Oh, right! I forgot that was a thing.
Yes I am
@@FinnMckentyPRMBA Okay

A lot of people seem to be jumping on the TOOL hate band wagon lately which is sad to see because they are a high quality band and unbelievably rewarding if you're open to it. I understand their music not being to your particular taste but when it comes to musicianship you have to admit those guys are top tier
Finn is missing out if he really hasn't listened to Lateralus. It is a great fucking record. He's also not wrong about some of the fans, though
@@Acmallsb40 okay, some Tool fans are kinda obnoxious but why does it matter? Isn't that like every fan base ever? Does it affect if the music is good or not? No. Honestly talking bad about band whose best record you didn't listen to but somehow it is a mediocre band is also obnoxious. And i see what the guy is doing, he is kinda pretending like he is trolling but i think it is his genuine opinion.
I think tool gets a bad rap because lots of people don’t like the fans. I’m not a huge fan of tool I only like maybe 5 or so songs by them, but you can’t deny that they’ve released a lot of quality music
Tool is for 50 year old wine snobs who enjoy the smell of their own farts
@@aidanm6188 I’m a tool fan, 30 and don’t drink alcohol…. Lol
Demanufacture is one of the definitive albums of its time. I saw Fear Factory in late 94, before the album had come out. During their set, they played about 3 songs off the new album. Usually I don't like when artists play unreleased stuff live because it's unfamiliar. but I specifically remember them playing Self Bias Resistor and it was one of the best songs of their set. A few months later, I ran into Dino a small indie record store where he was promoting Demanufacture's upcoming release and the guy gave me a signed copy a full 2 months before it was officially out. Wouldn't take money for it. I know he's had some issues with his bandmates and collaborators, but towards his fans, he's always been a great guy.
Part 2 should include Nu Metal album covers. Godsmacks debut album from 98 (iconic), Disturbed - The Sickness, Saliva - Every Six Seconds, Puddle of Mudd - Come Clean, Kid Rock - Devil without a Cause, Sevendust - Animosity, etc. Something about 90s-2000s cover art is not only nostalgic but iconic, reminds you how classic those covers were and stories you had them while listening to them reflecting back. They always had a story to tell
I love this album artwork video, you definitely need to do more of them.
little known secret about Viper...his discography mostly consists of the same few dozen songs...but they have been remixed, remastered, slowed down and kinda chopped, even some of them have added instrumentation and vocal samples...
he's playin us y'all lol
Yeah. Well y'all don't even smoke crack.
i love when you point your finger to camera and start talking sarcastically 🤣🤣
I know you made a goal to start kind of being more positive sometimes and you are totally doing it. When you were talking about the bull's nuts on the Dude Ranch album I almost fell off of my couch because of how hard I was laughing. That Trick Daddy album almost has a vapor wave aesthetic to it. My brother actually created one of the original vapor wave pictures on the interwebz and people take it and make posters of it and sell them and shit. That's hilarious
I feel like Finn does irony really well, but a lot of people don't get that. They think he's being serious and so that sours the moments when he is actually being sincere. If you get the humour you can read the sincerity.
Hey Finn, the UPC code in the album art for Fear Factory's "Demanufacture" is the same upc code on the original pressing of the album (minus the first and last digit)
Good ol _Fear Factory..._ I straight up immediately heard _"Edge Crusher"_ just seeing their name.
My very first boss, Steve "Krusher" Joule, designed those Ozzy covers (I assisted him on "The Ultimate Sin") as well as Iron Maiden's covers, & just about anyone you can think of from that mid-late 80s Era. He did all that lettering by hand! Sharon totally stiffed him on the first one, but he went ahead & did several more anyway. He also did KERRANG!'s first logo. He was in VERY high demand those days & we were making money hand over fist! He posts videos over on his Facebook, stories of some of the crazy 💩 that went on. I HIGHLY recommend you go check it out! He's a National Treasure!
Man, I just found your channel and I’m not big into rock by any means. I’m as casual as casual gets but hearing you shit on SOAD and Tool is making me rethink everything about life.
That’s ok, like whatever you like!
@@FinnMckentyPRMBA I’m never going to stop liking Tool by any means but it is refreshing to a differing take on popular bands.
I think the lateralus art work is one of the coolest album artworks ever. Would definitely wear it
The CD copy of Lateralus is five or so pages that "dissects" the guy on the cover. The pages are transparent so the front cover still shows you the Alex Grey original, but each individual page reveals details hidden underneath the varuous layers. That ambitious attention to detail is kinda lost when distributing music digitally, though I'm not complaining
I think it’s the greatest album artwork of all time I can’t think of any other band that actually puts many layers into their art like that
This tier list made me feel all kinds of ways, from mad to happy to laughing to excitement lol what a great video
Great video Finn. Was looking at your merch and noticed you don't have a shirt for GATE KEEPERS!!!
At this point, we’re only a couple of shows away from a circumcision tier list. I’m pleased with finn’s discussion ratio of art to wieners though - only right and proper for a channel of this calibre. Some great covers though - the man o war was perhaps my fav. 💎💯🔝
Love your tier lists and 100% agree with you eliminating the D and E tiers!!! Please use that formula for future tier lists!
These are legit the most fun videos on RUclips
That six feet under album always reminds me of FaceBones from Metalocalypse!
Finn, please do a tier list tier list, where you rank which tier lists you liked vs. which tier lists you didnt like.
19:07 This is even funnier when you know that Black Country New Road, one of the most "fantano-core" bands out there atm, wrote a 12-minute song about how the singer had a wet dream about Charli XCX (if you don't know, google the original lyrics to Basketball Shoes)
The fact is that when your dog is in that pooping position, he's vulnerable, and he's looking to you to protect him.
Will we see or have you already reacted to the new Neckdeep song. And where can I find a VOD if you have already. Thanks finn
Vod should be on my twitch
Album cover art sounding like the album is such a vibe ! You nailed it perfectly , I can’t hear any song of Demanufacture and not see that image . 🔥🔥Pisschrist 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Pisschrist is an amazing song. "Where is your savior now? " is such a raw line.
I love how much Finn loves Charli’s How I’m Feeling Now. It really is such a great album
Is anyone gonna tell Finn that the foot guy on Around The Fur was Abe Cunningham, Deftones’ drummer
How do you not recognize Andres Serrano's Blood and Semen III and Piss and Blood on Metallica's Load and Reload, mr. Art School? 😁
Top tier content yet again, I had a great time 👍👍😊
I'd love to know what you think about No Control. That's one of my favorite album covers. I know it's simple, but it hits my brain in a damn good way.
The quick spider man taint check made me laugh out loud at my quiet work environment. Thanks.
I think he's making an attempt at staying monetized. Lol
I love Tool but I could listen to you rip on Tool forever. Pure gold 👌🏼
Finn the best album covers ever are the ones that are just a random photo in the middle of a website like trick daddy’s masterpiece of an album cover. Truly next level shit
This is one of your funniest stream clips so far.
Doubt you'll ever do a video on them so I wanted to ask if you're a fan of Billy Talent. Imo super underrated band in the states. Seems like they have a massive following in Europe though.
Viper's albums are simultaneously S tier and F tier. If you look at them too long you can feel your mind collapse into some weird antipode singularity
I honestly never noticed there were manfeet on the Deft-Ones cover. And that's my fave D album, and I design album covers- shows my attention to detail focus lol!
Great video man! The armpit and feet part cracked me up
Id put the Lateralus cover higher just because the booklet and the transparent layers. Cant think of any other booklet done in a similar fashion
This, I've not seen anything similar anywhere else, it's much nicer than it first appears if you have the physical copy.
As Beyonce once said "if you wanna build a horse statue, put a wang on it." Or something, idk, not a Beyonce fan
The foot guy on Around the Fur is likely Rick Kosick! He shot that cover.
Genius commentary on the Manowar cover!
Bro... the "foot guy" moment had me rolling
Album art used to be important when music stores were a thing. Back in the day, I bought more than a few albums based on the cover art alone. Now, with few exceptions, I have no clue what any of the albums I listen to most now look like.
Can definitely agree. The cover art for albums like Houses of the Holy for Led Zeppelin just made the music sound more ethereal to me
That look that a pup gives you while they shit is the “you got me, bro?” look. They are pack animals, so you are their security blanket while they are vulnerable.
The foot on the Deft Ones cover is from the photographer himself, Rick Kosick who a year or two later became the main camera guy from Jackass, the fat guy with the glasses theyre always messing with, here a clip from the 1st movie with him:
ruclips.net/video/tXeyqoResB4/видео.html
This was a fun video to watch.
best thing i've watched in a while
Silverstein has some of my favorite album art from that scene
More album art reviews!!
If anyone is curious about the feet on the Around the Fur cover, it's Rick Kosick's. He took the photo and is also a crew member for Jackass. In fact in Jackass you can see an advertisement for White Pony.
The skull on the cover of Bringer of Blood is Eddy from the Iron Maiden covers cousin. When he signed up, he thought he was following in his cousins footsteps…he was not.
2:25 The bull at Wall Street in New York City has Balls to.
Thanks for making me laugh my ass off. It was a rough day.
I didnt even know there were feet on that Deftones cover until today. You gotta learn something new every day I guess.
I love to look at the full (front and back) follow the leader cover
When you gonna do a vid on Fear Factory mate? 😀
The first Six Feet Under album art was incredible. It made me buy it. You know, when stores existed.
Absolutely ruthless putting the Alex Grey painting on the same tier as load
Diary of a madman captures the 60's comic book pulp aesthetic. It's creepy and fun at the same time; which really captures Ozzy Osbourne. If you were early 20's in the early 80's you grew up with comic books that look like this. Marvel Strange Tales for instance (then Conan and other Pulp stuff of the 50s - 80's). If you don't know that world.. 1- this wasn't marketed towards you 2- you might not get it 3- you weren't supposed to get it (Heavy Metal ethos of being outsiders that have their own thing enters the chat).
Your tier lists are the best content.
Best tier list video ever 😂
That Charlie xex thing was literally the only one I've never heard of on this list so I was a little surprised to hear Finn say it was one of the most recognizable. I don't actually know if Finn is joking or not about this. Anyone else never heard of it or just me?
She’s bigger than most of the other artists on the list (16 million spotify listeners). Maybe just too new for you
I don't think it's particularly recognizable. Charli definitely isn't like a global superstar. Maybe like pop Twitter or some music communities everyone knows it but most people don't know her
@@man4437 she is global
Apparently the Deft One himself (Chino) doesn't really love the Around the Fur cover. I think it was just a random pic and not specifically meant to be cover art.
I didn't recognize the Charlie XCX album cover until you said it.
"Who doesn't recognize this cover?" I have never seen that cover in my life. I've seen that Goblin Cock cover before today. I have never seen the Charlie XCX cover.
"A big fat bong load" lmao
I was honestly shocked that tool is basically just butt rock based off how all their fans act
Lmao i lost it at the bringer of blood impression
Dude 4 words, ADEMA - TOPPLE THE GIANTS
Milo goes to College is the most iconic pop Punk cover art Finn. Now where's my damn Fugazi vid?
08:07 thought you said "Diarrhea of a Mad Man" initially 😆
As always, clicked like even before watching. Second channel gang baby!
Glad i had my notebook and pen out when you played that Viper. Nuggets in there.
Seriously though, great vid Finn 😃👍
The “Doin thangs” album cover by Big Bear from 1998 needs to be on these tier lists. That’s 🐻🔥
I literally had to check for myself to see if that Six Feet Under cover was a real thing.
What? Tool Lateralus is a masterpiece!
Follow the Leader reminded me of a demented Shel Silverstein cover of Where the Sidewalk Ends.
I dont mean to be the AkSHulY guy, but it's really just an interesting fact: dogs look at people (or other dogs) they trust while they are pooping because they are vulnerable and counting on you to alert them if there is any impending danger coming while they are planting a mean log.
I accept this duty to protect the pooping dogs of this world
When u said computer enhance i not only laughed pretty hard but expected the image to get graphically enhanced hahahaha
As soon as I saw the Six Feet Under album, I thought that Sloth from the Goonies had a baby with a demon lol
Not only is S the first letter in the alphabet, it is such a badass that it appears *twice*. That's how you know S tier is the best.
Fun fact about Load: despite how overwhelmingly hated it is, the song Until It Sleeps is actually the highest charting Metallica song of all time on the Hot 100, which technically makes Load one of their biggest albums ever. Take that Load haters.
God I never even realized the feet in that deftones cover
Let just say the cover of Load/ReLoad is a close up of a cow’s “2nd milk” :3
S Tier "Tier List" video. Now we need a "Tier List" video of "Tier List" videos.
Cut > *UNCUT*
4skin preservationists clearly haven’t had to brush with enough… covered toothbrushes.
I hope you put Alice in chains' tripod album in the next edition of this series.
BRO I LOVE VIPER unironically he has some amazing early albums 😭
I hope he judges Satellite by POD here. One of the biggest music vs. cover art quality discrepancies I have ever seen 😂
I hate being a tool fan with a lateralus tattoo because I have to be lumped in with most of em. That being said tool isn’t the second coming of Christ but mediocre? Not sure about that Finn. Much respect tho man 😤
that was genuinely entertaining. I lol'd multiple times. Computer enhance.
Goblin Cock is actually rad as hell. It’s one of many side projects by Rob Crow from Pinback. It essentially just sounds like heavier Pinback. Good shit if you like your sludge metal to have catchy hooks.
That Trick Daddy cover is S+
We need Finn video about Manowar
