Thank you for this video. We use this fan in a garage where this is a lot of "fine" black dust everywhere and I know was building up in the fan. But when I first attempted to try to remove the fan guard, I was stopped by two screws that I couldn't remove...well...until I saw this video. I was able to remove the the two screws with a needle nose pliers....it took some time but I was able to remove the guard. I was able to get to the blades and remove all that gunk from the blades! One suggestion though. After removing the guard, I noticed there were similar screws just inside the guard that were Phillips screws. I removed one of them and they were the exact same size as the two screws that I had to remove with the needle nose pliers. So I just switch 'em out allowing me to put all Phillips screws on the outside of the guard so I can easily access the blades for the next cleaning. Thanks for the video!
You da MAN! I have a different model but I'm gonna pull mine apart too after I sober-up! I was TRYING to clean mine and decided to just get shit-faced and cover my over-heated body in cold, wet towels instead. Between daylight savings time and this FAN...I'm thinkin' of volunteering to head an expedition to Mars JUST FOR THE WEATHER!!!
I bought a Lasko fan (not the same but similar), stainless steel mesh and ac filter sheets. I didn't received anything yet but I'm hoping I'll be able to sandwich everything over the air intake so it doesn't get dirty inside.
Google Laskos #4930 oscillating high velocity fan with remote control - this is an older version. I have had mine for I bet 4 yrs now. They are cheaper at Sams Club (where I got mine) and I think they have at Walmart. But the info I gave you should help. I recommend searching the prices though as they can range tremendously.
If I had to guess, I would guess you have sprayed some liquid on it or you have a pet that has Peed on it. Obviously some moisture has been on the inside of the fan. Either let it dry out or get a new one is my guess
@@hull_k0gan641 ok that makes sense. I have one dog that is peeing all over the place. Thanks for showing how to take the reverse screw off. Very helpful. I was thinking it was some oil from the fan or something
I don't have this model but I've got two of these lasko blower fans and you can definitely wash the cover. I do it with soap and water but actually cleaning the inside of the fan is difficult cause, as he said it's very deep. I don't have problems with grime just dust so I vaccum whatever on the blades and then use a long artists paint brush to loosen the dirt between the blades. You can dip it in alcohol and clean but I'm lazy and impatient and don't want to spend an hour on it.

Lol. I know the feeling. Hopefully this worked out for you, bro.
Thanks for your video. I have been wanting to clean but didn't have instructions.
Probably the best fan I've ever owned.
Sr, just change the screws, put another ones! I did it!
Not the best made video but very helpful Thank You!!
Thank you, dude! Yea, I did it on the fly so no showmanship on this one haha
I used a high powered electric leaf blower. Worked great. But I still want to take it apart. I ordered a specialized tool bit set from amazon for $5.
Very nice

I was cleaning it and now this brown liquid is leaking from somewhere and I see it on the floor when I pick up the fan. Any idea what this is?

After spending almost 1 hour, I found that we need Fork screwdriver in order to unscrew that non reversible screw.
Right. I made one from an Allen key
I tossed mine! Great job though!😉
How do you take out the non reverse screw

Why can't you wash the covers and then use Q tips dipped in alcohol to clean the inside?

It will be SUPER tedious and difficult to fit Q-tips in there.
The screws are made to where the screwdriver won't fit inside
You have to use a small set. This video was made a few years ago. Do you have a different model?
The hole's are not big enough to get a pair of needle nose pliers
That’s why I whittled down an Allen key to fit the specific holes
