Thanks so much for posting this... I was having trouble taking apart my ten yr old Lasko blower fan(built just like this one) to clean it. I was stumped by how to remove fan encasement, probably would've busted mine in half n ruined it... Simple twist n release directions saved me the headache.
Thank you so much for posting how you took this fan apart! The little notch on the rotator housing is where I got stuck. Now I know how I can clean the fan!
I TOTALLY AGREE with u about the security screws! It's so frustrating when u don't have the proper tools. Thanks for the tip about cutting the flathead to fit the screw with the groove in the middle.
I have a Lasko (which is the same design) I had to do this. Fan is so much better now. It basically just needed a good cleaning. Plus, there are so many more than 2 screws
My same fan is making the exact same noise but running fine. i thought something was loose inside, but after totally taking it apart including taking the motor housing apart the bearings seemed fine, they spin VERY easy and very smooth. I went ahead and oiled them, but it's still making the same noise. I believe it's the bottom bearing that's getting worn out, the good news is that the bearings can be easily replaced I just have no idea how hard it's going to be to get the old one off and press the new one on. Also I forgot to even look at the number on the bearing so thanks a ton for saying what they were, i just ordered a 10pk of them for $7.00 on Amazon. For now I'm just gonna run it with the bad bearing, yes it's gonna make an annoying rattling noise but it works fine, plus i snapped off one of the screw heads on the motor housing when re-screwing it back in with an impact drill, lol.
Thank you for the video, very helpful. I never would have thought about turning the housing to a certain position to pull it off. I was very close to smashing it and head to the store and get something else. Again very helpful was just cleaning two of them.
Everything is built to make it difficult to take apart anymore. It like they want us to just throw it away and buy a new one. Wasteful greedy companies. Maybe they would change their ways if they were forced to take all the broken products back and dispose of them for us
Those run start caps are around 6 to 11 bucks. Its worth putting one in if youve torn it down that far or sell the body to me. Franken Fan may not survive this latest reanimation im working on. Good video. Hope to get it going
nice video. was looking to see how to take it apart and learned about that capacitor. might want to rename the video 'blower fan disassembly' since you really just took it apart, but good job.
I have the same fan, 1, 2, and 3 speeds don’t change the speed of the motor and it whirrs like an air induced draft fan from a gas furnace. It blows air fine just noisier than usual.
I have the same fan and i took it apart to clean but when i put it apart now it only runs in one speed. When i move it from 3 to 2 it still feels the same. Same with 2 to 1 speed. Do you know what this might be?
Same with me! I found mine, so I'm not sure, and wish I had checked the RPMs previous to taking apart, but got some oil on both bearings (still makes some noise), at 1733 rpm on any position. I feel like it used to run faster. HOWEVER, uses 80 watts at high-speed, 60 at low, so run on low speed setting.
@@EverydayJourney I'm guessing they meant that black cover that goes over the handle. You took the screws off both sides and then while the video was playing fast it looks like it just popped off while you were prying on it and trying to look underneath 2:23. I also was not able to get mine to pop off so I just cleaned it from the inside of the fan wheel with a qtip.
Yours doesnt look like its had any moisture in it. You might get lucky and be able to shoot air through the motor casing and shoot some electric motor cleaner or contact cleaner in the casing and it might perk right up. Mine had corrosion and crap on all of the wire connections. I cleaned all of them and its running great but every point the body is connected with screw has been broken off. Even the ones the motor screws to. The moral of this story is tell your friends to go to hell when they try to borrow anything.
Too early in the video to know if you fix it or not but if you cant ill buy it. I had one i loaned to a dumbass....i mean friend and got it back in pieces. I fixed all of that and got it going again. Had it in storage and had another....friend get my stuff out of storage 5 years ago. Ive never seen a single thing from my storage except my fan that i found in his back yard mangled. Plastic welded it all over this time but it was chirping. I started disassembly and found he must have been drying off sheep in the bottom of a pool. It has as much wool in it as madonas arm pits in the 80s. That yellow snorkle will slide rigjt over the squirrel cage. But youll play hell with the squirrel cage itself
Not sure where you can find one. Sometimes you can find things at a scrap yard. I’ve even had luck talking people into allowing me to walk away with some things from garbage convenience centers. I hope you can find what you’re looking for. Good luck
ONLY video on utube detailing lasko fan repair. Amazing! You should be sent an award. Thanks from New Orleans Louisiana!
After seeing that there were no others, I decided to share to help out
You helped me. As you were talking this apart, I was a few steps ahead on mine but hit a snag. You got me through it. My runs fabulously.

No problem. Thanks for watching
Thank you so much for the help I got stuck in my project and you solve my issue!!!
I just wanted to clean out the inside of mine. This helped when I got stuck removing the yellow housing. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much! It took me all day but I got it cleaned. Works great now! I didn’t need to do the motor as it worked fine. Thanks again:)
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching
What was the fan doing before you cleaned it?
I have a Lasko (which is the same design) I had to do this. Fan is so much better now. It basically just needed a good cleaning. Plus, there are so many more than 2 screws
Perfect man. Needed this video to clean mine.

Love to know if the bearings do the trick
@@EverydayJourney I'll definitely update you on it. They're scheduled to be delivered on Saturday.
This video helped me so I could take it apart to clean all the dust out.
The armature looks good. If your bearing was actually stuck in behind a star shaped washer youll have fun getting the bearing back into place.

Looks like the Pillsbury doe boy is holding the Mic about to throw it lol hilarious 😆😂🤣
@Everyday Journey - Did the new start capacitor fix the fan?
In my case, yes
Where did you find capacitor? I cant find exact one online anywhere
Does the black grill where the air comes out pop off? Feels like it does but I don't want to just rip it off and break it if it's not supposed to.

It sounds like your start/run capacitor is possibly crapped out. The bearings may also just be dry.
nice video. was looking to see how to take it apart and learned about that capacitor. might want to rename the video 'blower fan disassembly' since you really just took it apart, but good job.
The disassembly without breaking it was the hard part :-)
The fan should fill the majority of the frame
Good video bro

Oh you got lucky. Im soaking my axle with pb for days trying to get the squirrel cage off the shaft.
Pb is the symbol for lead.
PB blaster is a penetrating oil for stuck bolts
Sounds like it has dirty brushes not contacting the comutators very well
The yellow part just caught under the squirrel cage
Thank you.
Your welcome
Did the new cap fix it?
Oh wow nevermind on the brushes that looks like a newer brushless motor
Good old pain in the ass Stanley Blower fan
I'm looking for a blower wheel replacement?
Not sure where you’d find that, sorry

I would guess it’s either the part that I replaced or the switch.

Nesecito las aspas donde las puedo conseguir
How did you take the top part off I’m having a hell of time removing it
Top? Can you give more specifics?

The screws are covered on one side only. That cover pops off to reveal the other side screws
Wow video posted at 3am
I knew I needed to post something so I made it a late night

Did you get yours running again?
Easier to get into fort Knox.
I wish you could hear me. Im yelling for you to not take all that off.
