En misschien kan Bol haar tijden aanscherpen door zich te focussen op snellere start en meer werken aan haar kracht. Ze is nog 23, ze zou zich kunnen focussen op kracht training en iets meer spiermassa misschien. Ik zag trouwens dat Klaver op 1 staat in de ranglijst 400m senioren V outdoor en Bol 2de.
I have never seen a runner setting world records and making it look so easy. Bol's stride is just perfection and beauty to watch. This is not something you can teach with training, she just has a unique gift for running. And her kick in the final 100m... Phenomenal!!!

Geweldige finale, Femke voldoet aan de torenhoge verwachtingen en lijkt zelfs minder moe dan vorig jaar! Ook Lieke loopt geweldig met 50.10 en kan ook gaan denken aan een sub50 tijd... Cathelijn loopt voor de 2de keer op rij 52.0 en verbeterd zich aanzienlijk dit indoor seizoen, interessant voor haar 400mH en natuurlijk de 4x400m. Helaas geen beelden wat er met Myrte van der Schoot gebeurde tijdens de race, maar hopelijk is dit jonge talent niet (erg) geblesseerd...

Otherwise, in the battle for 2nd place @World Indoors between Lieke, Alexis Holmes & Talitha Diggs, I think at least one of them will run sub 50s. Also, the 4x4 race between NED, USA & GB will be a lot of fun, looking forward to Glasgow in 2wks!

Her 51.23 @USA Champs is her 6th fastest time and can't forget that she ran her 50.15 PB just a year ago. It'll be close between Klaver, Holmes & Diggs for 2nd & 3rd @World Indoors! For NED, it was encouraging to see both Peeters (52.51 to 52.01) & Van der Schoot (52.92 to 52.81) improve their PBs @Dutch Indoors! All of the ladies you mention have been selected for the relay in Glasgow, so perhaps Saalberg is the biggest surprise for you. Perhaps Saalberg is showing more promise in training than she has shown at Nationals (she started the season pretty good). Since both Femke and Lieke will run the 400m final the day before round 1 of the relay, the coaches will probably try to leave one of them out for that "round 1" (which is essentially a semi-final), perhaps even both depending on the competitors. Quite a few countries have a weaker indoor relay team than outdoor team...

Met de progressie van Myrte zit het wel goed, maar ik hoop dat ze niet geblesseerd is geraakt in deze finale. Maar wees gerust, normaal gesproken is Eveline gewoon weer goed in Parijs, dat duurt nog lang. Hopelijk is ze ook over 2 weken in Glasgow al wat beter... Daarnaast hebben we ook nog Lisanne de Witte (afgezegd voor de finale i.v.m. koorts) en hopelijk is in Parijs de ook nog jonge Zoë Sedney er weer bij (net een behandeling voor d'r bloedvaten gehad). Zou het niet aerodynamischer zijn om haar haar glad achterover te doen met een ronde knot midden/laag op het achterhoofd ipv. een staart, elke (honderdste van een) seconde telt, iig. succes Femke!
Ik denk dat het nog aerodynamischer is om een badmuts op te doen of je hoofd kaal te scheren, maar ik denk ook dat het slimmer is om elk jaar sterker te worden en je techniek te verbeteren en dat dat meer zoden aan de dijk zet dan mini optimalisaties in aerodynamica...

Lieke hield zichzelf in bij het samenkomen van de hardloopsters. Normaal beukt ze daar met haar postuur de tegenstander van de baan. Nu liet ze Femke voorgaan. Zonder haar inhouden dus geen wereldrecord. Gun Lieke beter dan de eeuwige tweede.
Ik heb Lieke nog nooit een tegenstander van de baan af zien beuken, meestal is ze gewoon de snelste over de eerste 200m. Maar ook in de 200m is Femke dit indoor seizoen vooruit gegaan t.o.v. vorige jaren, dus het is niet raar dat ze nipt voor Lieke eindigt na 200m. Lieke rent hier ook gewoon een dik PR en ik denk niet dat ze dat had gedaan als ze zichzelf voor Femke had gepusht eerder in de race...
Dat beuken bedoel ik niet zo letterlijk. Maar als Lieke en een andere dame op precies dezelfde plek en snelheid de binnenronde ingaan, weet ik wel wie voorgaat. Simpelweg omdat Lieke fysiek imposant is. Dat helpt haar, weet ze, dat is mooi. Maar ik denk echt dat Lieke zich inhield. Kijk maar vanaf 2.33. Ze zit er bijna naast. En dan ineens niet meer. Maar wat haar betreft ook wel weer praktisch: ze heeft er het meeste aan om achter Femke aan te lopen Hadden we maar meer atletiekcommentaar zoals bij de Angelsaksen, dan was hier uitgebreid over gesproken........
I was wondering... If you start on the outer lane on such a high sloped track, you have two major downhill advantages (and one uphill disadvantage)... why is that allowed for a World Record? The higher the slope, the more advantage you have.
@_MicZ_ they start staggered. Person starting in outside lane doesn't run more than someone on the inside. It's a 400m for each and every one of them.
The start gets harder the more slope you have though. Should balance out. And athletes don't get to pick their lane. Would be weird to tell someone "you can't go for a wr today, you'll be starting in lane 6".
@@Querientje Well... look at the start and you see Bol is about two meters higher than the people on the inner lane. This is not about the competition in the race compared to the others participating. It is about running a WR. The fact you have such a downhill run toward the innerlane, gives you an obvious time advantage, since running downhill is faster than running on a flat surface. Making it more extreme to make my point clear(er); if she would start on an outerlane @ 10 meters higher relative to the inner (finishing)lane, it is even more clear that it is a major advantage, since you have an even longer downhill run (and a faster 400M race).
Sydney loopt geen indoor en we moeten nog afwachten wat ze gaat doen in Parijs (400m of 400mH). Momenteel loopt Sydney voornamelijk rond in talkshows en boekpresentaties...

I was wondering... If you start on the outer lane on such a high sloped track, you have two major downhill advantages (and one uphill disadvantage)... why is that allowed for a World Record? The higher the slope, the more advantage you have.
Im not sure what you mean but the banking is there fore the same reason as in cycling or nascar you wouldnt be able to make the turn without it

@_MicZ_ they start staggered. Person starting in outside lane doesn't run more than someone on the inside. It's a 400m for each and every one of them.
The start gets harder the more slope you have though. Should balance out.
And athletes don't get to pick their lane. Would be weird to tell someone "you can't go for a wr today, you'll be starting in lane 6".
@@Querientje Well... look at the start and you see Bol is about two meters higher than the people on the inner lane. This is not about the competition in the race compared to the others participating. It is about running a WR. The fact you have such a downhill run toward the innerlane, gives you an obvious time advantage, since running downhill is faster than running on a flat surface. Making it more extreme to make my point clear(er); if she would start on an outerlane @ 10 meters higher relative to the inner (finishing)lane, it is even more clear that it is a major advantage, since you have an even longer downhill run (and a faster 400M race).
