Nice overview, but a BIG ommission is that you don't mention that Bol changed her stride pattern to 14 steps between the hurdles in the winter from 2022 to 2023. This was fundamental because this was clearly the key to unlocking another level of performance... The big question we are all asking of course is: what is mcLaughlin doing?
I actually did consider this after watching a vid of her talking about it! I wasn't 100% sure though just how ergogenic this change was given her flat speed had notably improved too, but a fair consideration nonetheless haha.

But you very good emphasized the constant growth in her career, that hasn’t ended yet. Her trainer Laurent Meuwly said recently that test during last winter training pointed in the direction of increased raw speed, endurance and power. According to her changed stride pattern: that is a huge change, but necessary because with 15 steps she endend too short before the hurdles at the cost of speed. This transition was started more than a year ago and was initially meant to fully pay off not before Paris. That is the time and place to step out of my comfort zone, she recently said. Maybe you concentrated a little too much on her steady improving performances. I would have liked to have your opinion about an expected outdoor time, related to her indoor WR in Glasgow.

McLaughlin broke the world record in the American trials. A few days ago Bol wrecked her own PB and is now within a whisker of McLaughlin. It should be one of the events at the Paris Olympics. I'm not sure why, but over a year ago i felt that she would win the gold with a new world record. I still do.
Femke barely even got on the podium. She loses to Sydney by more and more every time. She only even got 2nd once in races with Sydney ... most of the time she gets 3rd. She only got sub-51 ONCE.....in the ALPS. Sydney is now close to sub-50. SHE WILL NEVER BEAT SYDNEY IN ANY EVENT.
I'm pretty sure Klaver also got an invitation and she probably really wants to run in the Netherlands, but I'm not sure she will choose the FBK Games over the 400m Diamond League in Paris in the same weekend. It might be better for her preparation for the Olympics to run against athletes that also run the 400m flat at the Olympics. Femke will probably run her first sub49, but it's hard to predict if she'll go "all out" (to test herself) or go "conservative" (to spare herself) so close to Paris ...

Become the best in the world?? Well that did age well, did it!! Not only SML won the hurdles event, but she ran her 4x400 leg in 47.70 (2nd leg) and Bol in 48.62 (last leg where usually runners bolt faster). The debate is close now. Femke is great but the magnificent Syd is untouchable although she competes and trains way less! SML can take the 400m WR also she goes for it
For all clarity: SML's WR of 50.68 is otherworldly of course, however it should be kept in mind that Femke Bol only started on the hurdles in 2019, while McLaughlin started hurdling in 2016 or earlier, so when this happend in 2022 Bol had only 3 years of experience on the hurdles, while McLaughlin had more than 6 years of experience... That is a massive difference.
@@aredditor4272 Maybe, but Bol's split in the WC was 48.43 (and NOT the 48.75 that was published only months later), which is very quick also, and Bol is consistently quicker on the flat (Bol's indoor WR is worth 1272 IAF points, McLaughlins PB on the flat is worth 1257 IAF points). But split times on relays are very unreliable anyway, because on the relay the runners get a flying start as they already are making speed in the hand-over zone, before they actually cross the startline... And how much speed they already build up in that handover zone is very dependent on the way the handover goes. So relay times are really not comparable to anything. However, if we start speculating (!), I have a few other interesting speculations for you: Bol's WR on the flat indoor is 49.17, which is a whopping 0.42 seconds faster than Jarmila Kratochvilova's WR from 38 years before. But Jarmila Kratochvilova also was the last holder of the Outdoor 400m WR with a time of 47.99 before Marita Koch ran her infamous 47.60. This 47.99 by Kratochvilova also happens the only other sub 48 time on the 400 ever (!) run by a woman. However, if Bol is able to beat Kratochvilova by 0.42 indoors there should be no reason why she should not be able to do that outdoors (when they step indoor or outdoor, they remain the same athletes...), and 47.99 - 0.42 = .... right. So i think you see my point...

McLAUGHLIN TICKS ALL THE BOXES OF STRUCTURAL ORGANISED PED USE General indications for doping use. 1.) strong evidence against the coach testimonies by previous pupils, etc. 2.) An Experienced Athlete is stuck at a certain level, but after joining a coach with a reputation for drugs the PB's suddenly drop spectacularly. 3.) Athlete competes very little. This way the athlete can be fed small dosages in a controlled surrounding (Microdosing) without getting caught 4.) Athlete "mysteriously" disappears from competition, especially during a "minor year" 5.) Athlete sudden re-emerges not to long before A big event, suddenly more muscular and "stronger than ever" 6.) The athlete suddenly delivered hitherto unheard of performances, that seemed "impossible" before 6.) Athlete develops injuries, even though he or she competes very little. This is a clear indication that the muscles of the athlete have been artificially enhanced to a level that is greater then what the bonesstructure, cartilege and tendons of the athlete can handle. Now lets look at the case of mrs McLaughlin and mr Kersee 1.) Her coach Bob Kersee is well known as a doping coach, there are even official testimonies against him 2.) Before joining mr Kersee mrs McLaughlins carreer had more or less topped out. Her PB was 52.23, 3.) After joining Kersee in 2020, 6 years into her carreer, her PB suddenly starts dropping, first to 51.46 in 2021 and then to 50.68 in 2022 4.) Since 2020 McLaughlin has never been competing more then 6 to 7 (and often less) times a year, 5.) In 2023 (pre-Olympic year) McLaughlin suffered a loss in performance level. She tried the 400 flat. Ran mostly average times and got painfully beaten once 6.) She then dropped out of all competition for the remainder of 2023 and early 2024 7.) McLaughlin developed a "minor knee injury" in 2023, even while only having run 5 races on the 400m and 1 on the 60 meter 8.) McLaughlin reappears after 1.5 year, clearly much more muscular (her thighs have become ridiculous!) and "drier" and faster then ever before 9.) McLaughlin deliveres an UNBELIEVABLE performance, after only 3 serious races THIS WHOLE THING BEGGARS BELIEF. One thing that I have learned, is that if something is "To good to believe". It usually IS TO GOOD TO BELIEVE.
It’s a completely different discipline, very difficult and technical. The top athletes alternate their jumping legs at least over the first seven hurdles in stead of using their ‘strong’ leg every hurdle. It takes 14 in stead of 15 strides between the hurdles and thus longer strides in order to gain velocity. Not easy! Try to imagine taking a barrier with your ‘weak’ leg!Further more it is very technical: athletes try to reach the track as fast as possible after the jump. Too long ‘flying’ in the air may cost tenths of seconds. And finally: 400 hurdles is more exhausting than flat. That’s why!

She always looks so relaxed when she runs. There is rarely any show of exertion or strain on her face even when those around her (or behind) are gritting their teeth and showing pain in their eyes. She just runs and looks down the lane, calm and focused.
I wonder how fast she will run when she really starts trying.

McLaughlin broke the world record in the American trials. A few days ago Bol wrecked her own PB and is now within a whisker of McLaughlin. It should be one of the events at the Paris Olympics. I'm not sure why, but over a year ago i felt that she would win the gold with a new world record. I still do.
Femke barely even got on the podium.
She loses to Sydney by more and more every time.
She only even got 2nd once in races with Sydney ... most of the time she gets 3rd.
She only got sub-51 ONCE.....in the ALPS.
Sydney is now close to sub-50.

I'm pretty sure Klaver also got an invitation and she probably really wants to run in the Netherlands, but I'm not sure she will choose the FBK Games over the 400m Diamond League in Paris in the same weekend. It might be better for her preparation for the Olympics to run against athletes that also run the 400m flat at the Olympics.
Femke will probably run her first sub49, but it's hard to predict if she'll go "all out" (to test herself) or go "conservative" (to spare herself) so close to Paris ...

Bols 400m indoor record puts her 20th all time across the 400m which is insane for an indoor time compared to the men's the best indoor time is 108th all time.

For Paris, i think Bol will run in 400m hurdles, 4x400m relay & 4x400m mixed..coz the dutch have the potential winning medals (even gold) in both 4x400m IF Bol in the team..so, Bol DEFINATELY wont run the 400m open coz the schedule from heats to finals for these 4 races is too tight. For SML, i think she just gonna go for 400m hurdles & 400m open. She wont run any of 4x400m..

Become the best in the world?? Well that did age well, did it!! Not only SML won the hurdles event, but she ran her 4x400 leg in 47.70 (2nd leg) and Bol in 48.62 (last leg where usually runners bolt faster). The debate is close now. Femke is great but the magnificent Syd is untouchable although she competes and trains way less! SML can take the 400m WR also she goes for it
Well she did just run down the American mixed relay team from 20 meters behind, in a 47.93 split to get the GOLD...
For all clarity: SML's WR of 50.68 is otherworldly of course, however it should be kept in mind that Femke Bol only started on the hurdles in 2019, while McLaughlin started hurdling in 2016 or earlier, so when this happend in 2022 Bol had only 3 years of experience on the hurdles, while McLaughlin had more than 6 years of experience... That is a massive difference.
Something else to think about, Mclaughlin is only 6 months older than Bol, and Mclaughlin's split in her 4x400 win was also otherworldly - 47.91
@@aredditor4272 Maybe, but Bol's split in the WC was 48.43 (and NOT the 48.75 that was published only months later), which is very quick also, and Bol is consistently quicker on the flat (Bol's indoor WR is worth 1272 IAF points, McLaughlins PB on the flat is worth 1257 IAF points). But split times on relays are very unreliable anyway, because on the relay the runners get a flying start as they already are making speed in the hand-over zone, before they actually cross the startline... And how much speed they already build up in that handover zone is very dependent on the way the handover goes. So relay times are really not comparable to anything. However, if we start speculating (!), I have a few other interesting speculations for you: Bol's WR on the flat indoor is 49.17, which is a whopping 0.42 seconds faster than Jarmila Kratochvilova's WR from 38 years before. But Jarmila Kratochvilova also was the last holder of the Outdoor 400m WR with a time of 47.99 before Marita Koch ran her infamous 47.60. This 47.99 by Kratochvilova also happens the only other sub 48 time on the 400 ever (!) run by a woman. However, if Bol is able to beat Kratochvilova by 0.42 indoors there should be no reason why she should not be able to do that outdoors (when they step indoor or outdoor, they remain the same athletes...), and 47.99 - 0.42 = .... right. So i think you see my point...

@@samuelcarlson1012 McLaughlin has run sub 51 only once, there's no guarantee she will run it again. And last year was Bol's first with 14 strides pattern, she ran 51.45(McLaughlin ran 51.46). Bol started with 400mh a lot later, now she is catching up
@@francescostano4445 I get what you are saying, but don’t forget to take into account that Sydney has been training this entire time, she has been improving her flatline speed and stamina. I am not saying I know for sure how things will shake out, but I do know Bol has an uphill battle to win. Also even if she only ran sub 51 one time, bol has not even sniffed that time.
@@samuelcarlson1012 Bol has been faster than McLaughlin in her first year with 15 strides and in her first year with 14 strides too, she simply started later. This year she is expected to have a big improvement. And I don't even think she will need to run the WR to beat McLaughlin, even if McLaughlin is improving I think she will not be close to that time because that was once in a lifetime race compared to her others. Her second best is 51.41
She rose and then fell back to where she was in 2021. Same result: bronze with almost an identical time. Her coach said she was going to try and run the first half faster in an attempt to match Lavrone. Might have been a mistake.
Must be tough on Femke, knowing she will always be second best on the 400m hurdles after the undisputed and beautiful looking track & field Queen Sidney McLaughlin.

McLAUGHLIN TICKS ALL THE BOXES OF STRUCTURAL ORGANISED PED USE
General indications for doping use.
1.) strong evidence against the coach testimonies by previous pupils, etc.
2.) An Experienced Athlete is stuck at a certain level, but after joining a coach with a reputation for drugs the PB's suddenly drop spectacularly.
3.) Athlete competes very little. This way the athlete can be fed small dosages in a controlled surrounding (Microdosing) without getting caught
4.) Athlete "mysteriously" disappears from competition, especially during a "minor year"
5.) Athlete sudden re-emerges not to long before A big event, suddenly more muscular and "stronger than ever"
6.) The athlete suddenly delivered hitherto unheard of performances, that seemed "impossible" before
6.) Athlete develops injuries, even though he or she competes very little. This is a clear indication that the muscles of the athlete have been artificially enhanced to a level that is greater then what the bonesstructure, cartilege and tendons of the athlete can handle.
Now lets look at the case of mrs McLaughlin and mr Kersee
1.) Her coach Bob Kersee is well known as a doping coach, there are even official testimonies against him
2.) Before joining mr Kersee mrs McLaughlins carreer had more or less topped out. Her PB was 52.23,
3.) After joining Kersee in 2020, 6 years into her carreer, her PB suddenly starts dropping, first to 51.46 in 2021 and then to 50.68 in 2022
4.) Since 2020 McLaughlin has never been competing more then 6 to 7 (and often less) times a year,
5.) In 2023 (pre-Olympic year) McLaughlin suffered a loss in performance level. She tried the 400 flat. Ran mostly average times and got painfully beaten once
6.) She then dropped out of all competition for the remainder of 2023 and early 2024
7.) McLaughlin developed a "minor knee injury" in 2023, even while only having run 5 races on the 400m and 1 on the 60 meter
8.) McLaughlin reappears after 1.5 year, clearly much more muscular (her thighs have become ridiculous!) and "drier" and faster then ever before
9.) McLaughlin deliveres an UNBELIEVABLE performance, after only 3 serious races
THIS WHOLE THING BEGGARS BELIEF.
One thing that I have learned, is that if something is "To good to believe". It usually IS TO GOOD TO BELIEVE.
Why can't the ordinarie 400 m runners run 400 m hurdle? The hurdles are so far apart and they're not very high
It’s a completely different discipline, very difficult and technical. The top athletes alternate their jumping legs at least over the first seven hurdles in stead of using their ‘strong’ leg every hurdle. It takes 14 in stead of 15 strides between the hurdles and thus longer strides in order to gain velocity. Not easy! Try to imagine taking a barrier with your ‘weak’ leg!Further more it is very technical: athletes try to reach the track as fast as possible after the jump. Too long ‘flying’ in the air may cost tenths of seconds.
And finally: 400 hurdles is more exhausting than flat.
