3D Land has my favorite Peach rescue sequence ever. I mean, Peach watched Mario fall down into a chasm, and she doesn't _know_ what happens to him. Sure, we know Mario is going to end up saving her, and she probably knows that too; but, at that time, she's stuck tied to a flagpole in a tower that soon gets destroyed, not knowing about the battle going on between Mario and Bowser. All she can do is wait, and hope. And then... Mario's there. Peach's reaction gets me every time, because you can hear the relief in her voice as she calls out his name. Mario unties her and they do a sweet little dance together. And then, Mario uses the Super Leaf and flies back to Mushroom Kingdom, carrying his princess safely back home. I just love it. ❤
I’ve already beat it on my 2DS and it took 30 hours, so I doubt I’d play the port. However, priced right and with good new content it could be a great Mario game for the people who have yet to try it.

This was my first ever game that I got with my 3DS in Christmas 2011, so it is very nostalgic for me, but I do believe that this is one of the best Mario games out there. Case in point, I like this game. A lot.
This is actually my favorite 3D Mario game. The Galaxies and even Sunshine come close, but this game has so much significance and meaning for the time it came out, and the content it represents.
galaxy and sunshine are 100 times better than this, it's not even comparable. This game is cute, but there is a reason why it has been overshadowed by other mario 3d games. How can you compare this to the masterpiece which is galaxy?
@@Mickey_Milos I agree that 3D Land isn’t as good as Galaxy or Sunshine, but I’m not sure if Sunshine ‘overshadows’ it. It’s still the black sheep of 3D Mario.
@@Mickey_Milos I'm not comparing them, you ass. They came close to being my favorites. I didn't even MENTION 3D Land being better in any way, just that it's my FAVORITE. Why don't you actually try reading for once, instead of skimming??
@@redtygr14 My bad, i misunderstood your previous comment. However you actually compared them when you said "come close" so don't deny that. Anyway i wasn't being an ass how you say , i just told you that you can't compare these game to the 3D land cause is an insult to a masterpiece like galaxy. 3D land is a cute and very funny game but it's like compare a good drawing to a wonderful Painting, c'mon let's be real. i wasn't mocking you or anything , i also like 3D land and maybe you found a personal special meaning behind this but highly doubt that a true fan of mario would prefer this to other games like: Odyssey, galaxy , sunshine ,3d world or mario 64. It's objectively weird and bad taste in my opinion. Don't be angry it's just what i think about your comment .
@@Mickey_Milos I appreciate the reply. I just think you need to look at some games with a different point of view. Sure, it takes a lot to make games that look as good as the main console Mario games, but this was my favorite because of how much sheer charm was in it. Literally, if you played this game, you can take any part of any level and say it's a tribute to all other Mario games, 2d and 3D, and in this case, it's not about how good a game looks, but how good a game respects the source material. The mainstream 3D Mario games are wonderful for taking a concept and turning it into something completely new. I like this game, because it's drenched in everything that made Mario a fun series to begin with. It's about the context and timing of the game when it comes out. The 3ds and this game were the biggest things in Nintendo when they came out. I don't call it bad taste, when I see the good in a game. Not trying to sound like an ass myself, but I always have too much to say for any game, big or small. Don't take it the wrong way, I love making talk like this.
I first got Super Mario 3D Land along with my original Blue 3DS as a gift for getting into high school. It blew me away back then, getting to play a game like it. Galaxy and Galaxy 2 were my first 2 3D Marios, so playing a 3D Mario game on a handheld was an incredible experience. It was pretty easy, but I think that fact just added to the simple joy of it. I didn't 100% the game, but I still got through most of the special worlds. I recently replayed the game last fall when I heard the 3DS was cancelled, since I was getting a New 2DS XL, and before I bought the new system, I played the game on my original one. And it was still wonderful. This game just makes me happy. The levels, the funny ideas, and that music just scream 'HAPPINESS!' to me. This game definitely needs more recognition. I'm gonna replay it again for its 10th anniversary this fall!
I couldn't agree more. It was one of my favorite games ever back then, and it was the reason I was so excited when Super Mario 3d World was announced to be coming to the switch.
I've been replaying 3D Land in preparation for 3D World + Bowser's Fury next week. I love the short and simple levels. Of the 5 worlds I've revisited so far, the open desert of 3-1 and the Zelda inspired 5-2 are the most memorable.
This game was like comfort food. I went back and 100% completed this game like 3 times and it’s not super difficult, but it is a comfy romp that you can just turn your mind off to and enjoy the creative level design, some new enemies, excellent music, and overall excellent presentation. Especially with the 3D slider up all the way. I adore this game ❤️
I got this game bundled with my 3DS when I got it for Christmas in 2011. I brought my 3DS everywhere with me because I loved this game that much. Even as I got more games for my 3DS, 3D Land is probably the game I’ve put the most hours into on the system. Actually hard to believe it’s been nearly 10 years.
Your content is amazing. I haven’t watched NintendoLife this much until Jon joined the team. Retrospectives are so much more fun than just covering new games.
Good thing that I still have my 3DS XL since 2012 and I have this game. Without this game it wouldn’t be any 3D world today. Pay huge respect to 3D Land.
Super Mario 3D Land was my first ever owned Mario game, even digitally. I've had so much fun as child playing it, and even sharing with my family, although it was only solo player. But, I'm fine with that.
I just did a 100% playthrough of this game on my channel, haven't done the special worlds yet but im taking a break from it for awhile but, yes I think this still holds up and I think it deserves to be remade
Not only is this my favorite Mario game, but It's in my top 5 games of all time. This game to me just exudes charm. As much as I love my 3ds I don't go back and replay many games on it. This game is definitely the exception. I've replayed the entire game this past week in anticipation for 3D world. I'm glad this video was made, because this game is often overlooked and underappreciated, and more praise and loves should be shined on this game in my opinion. Great video!
Absolutely one of my favorite Mario games. The use of stereoscopic 3D, the bite-sized nature of the level design, and the portability keep this on the top of my list
Super Mario 3D Land took me time to wrap my head around it's concept: Blending the elements of both 2D and 3D Mario games into one. And it's great. Also has some of the most post-game content in a Nintendo game outside of Pokemon HG/SS.

DON'T FORGET ME! THINK YOU CAN TAKE MEEE!
My first ever video game. I will pay nintendo anything to port this
Dammit, I'm getting dangerously close to regretting never buying a 3DS!
My first Mario game is still one of the biggest joys to play even to this day as it has this warm, homely yet fun atmosphere
3D Land is so underrated! Its a perfect handheld game
I’m not a huge Nintendo fan but I play this game all the time on my 3DS
Hello white pfp, i'm black pfp
This is what I've been saying!
3D land is a masterpiece. One of my favourite games 👍
Should Super Mario 3D Land be on the Switch?
I couldn't agree more. It was one of my favorite games ever back then, and it was the reason I was so excited when Super Mario 3d World was announced to be coming to the switch.
3d land > 3d world fight me
Wish more people recognized the genius move that was adding the gold flag goal to every level...for both characters.
I just finished this game up actually. Highly reccomend
This should be dlc for super mario 3d world. Id pay 40$ to have it on switch
🙏🏽
Yeah, i dont think 3d land would get a lot of sales if they released it alone so dlc for 3 world would be perfect, maybe like 20-40 dollars
This was the first Mario game I've ever played. 8 years ago. Wow, that was long ago.
I honestly miss the 3D screen so much. Even if it was just to make speech bubbles pop out of the screen oh, it was so darn cool.
This was my first 3D Mario game so I have very fond memories of it
I've been replaying 3D Land in preparation for 3D World + Bowser's Fury next week. I love the short and simple levels. Of the 5 worlds I've revisited so far, the open desert of 3-1 and the Zelda inspired 5-2 are the most memorable.
Jon making the move to Nintendo Life is the best thing that happened this past year.
The main thing I like about this game is the StreetPass functions. It's pretty cool to see new record times pop up for you to try to beat.
I literally just finished this game for about the 3rd time and it’s by far one of my favorite 3DS games.
Ever since Jon joined this channel has been pumping out content left and right and I absolutely love it
I just did a 100% playthrough of this game on my channel, haven't done the special worlds yet but im taking a break from it for awhile but, yes I think this still holds up and I think it deserves to be remade
I remember I was so excited when I got 3D Land…It was my first 3DS Game when 3ds first came out for my birthday!
Absolutely one of my favorite Mario games. The use of stereoscopic 3D, the bite-sized nature of the level design, and the portability keep this on the top of my list
Beat this game around 7 times, one of my favorite games I’ve ever played.
3-D land was my first Mario game
I think I need to replay this game, so many things about it have been popping up for me today and I'm feeling real nostalgic
One of my top 3 favourite Mario games of all time behind 3D world & Galaxy 1, hate how underrated it is
Super Mario 3D Land is a really great game and I always have fun playing it again.
I could never forget this game, this game went everywhere with me
Super Mario 3D Land took me time to wrap my head around it's concept: Blending the elements of both 2D and 3D Mario games into one. And it's great. Also has some of the most post-game content in a Nintendo game outside of Pokemon HG/SS.
This game was an absolute joy to play and is the reason I bought into the 3DS almost 10 years ago.
My first 3ds was super mario 3d land edition and i fell in love with the game, it's one of my favourites for sure!
I still go back through 3D land once in a while, it’s so fun
This is my childhood game! 3D land was fire, at first I always wanted to get the golden flag poles, idk why it just made me feel like I collected everything.
How can I forget the game that made many of my most cherished video game memories!
