Good Afternoon by now Stuart, 😉😉👍👍 Thanks very much, heading towards the final hurdle. got a great cast iron stand coming soon to keep the vintage look ATB Kev
cheers Doug getting closer to finished in inverted comma's, watch out soon (may be part 32) for making a cast iron stand which really makes the lathe look vintage thanks for the usual feedback, appreciated atb Kev
Looks great Kev. It's technically a brand new lathe and we have had plexiglass for the best part of a century, so a great choice for your 'Vintage' machine. Best wishes, Dean.
Thanks 👍 Dean didn't realise perpex had been around that long, you've armed me with an answer for some who think different now. I didn't want to hide all the years worth of work i had done.👍 Watch out for the Cast Iron Stand coming soon, probably ep.32 and watch out for the naming ceromony prob ep 34 /35 atb👍👍👍👍 Kev
I truly cannot get over how beautiful this little machine has turned out to be. It is a genuine piece of functional art and looks like it has been sitting in a museum for a hundred years waiting to be used again. Good on ya Kev, you have very rare natural talents.
That is awesome work. You could put a magnet on the end of the stopper stud that locates on the cast iron frame to secure the guard and keep it from rattling. Then again that could also get filled with swarf and be a pain in the a...... Just a thought. Amazing build.
thanks GB8016 Thought i'd shown the magnet, i hung a screwdriver from it, probably wasn't very clear. thanks again for the feedback👍👍👍👍👍 appreciated atb Kev
Thank you! Cheers! H1951👍👍 i didn't want to hide all the work i had done!! coming towards the end a few more videos, watch out for the Cast Iron stand soon maybe ep.32 !! appreciate the feedback atb Kev
@@howder1951 Hope i don't dissapoint you H1951, but the castings skin have took about 60 year to get there current Patina (Dark Gunmetal Grey) and they are staying like that, personal preference but they look great with a coat of oil rubbed over them😄😄😉😉👍👍 but i have chosen a name, watch this space for that.😉😉👍👍👍👍👍👍
It keeps you safe and doesn't spoil the look of your micro lathe great design. Would be great if you did a sterling or any kind of engine on your micro lathe it's something i have wanted to do for a while but every time I look at stock metal prices I think I'll wait to i find some cheap old scraps but unfortunately that is going for a premium last time i looked. Great video as always.
hi John, thought i'd just replied to this but it dissapeared!!!!!! thanks very much, 👍👍👍👍 yes i didn't want to do all that work just to hide it. Watch this space for the Low Temperature Differential Engine, might just do a simplified version to start with, using what ever at hand or cheap materials, or recycled, i'm still as tight as cramp🤣🤣🤣🤣 see you next time regards Kev
hi Kit all parts made from items around my workshop nothing bought as as tight as cramp🤣 the casting for the lathe bed and tailstock turned up at are model engineering society shop from a shed clearout. i bought them for next to nothing, and have produced the working lathe, all the history etc is in my Intro to this playlist. many thanks Kev
Morning Kev. You definitely can’t beat Cardboard Aided Design. Excellent work 👏👏👍😀

Gday Kev, I think using Perspex really suits this build, you can still see all the workings and craftsmanship, great job mate, cheers

The history of the micro lathe was it a production lathe or a kit lathe or something you made from bits a pieces?
