The WORST Amusement Park Accident In China

- Without exaggeration, the worst amusement park accident in history was Space Journey at Knight Valley. A ride unfamiliar to many but continues to hold the record for the highest body count on any attraction since 2010. Claiming a total of 6 victims when the ride vehicle impacted the ground after falling 39 ft. Along with a sudden fire that could've ended the lives of 48 guests. However, to be clear this is not a roller coaster. Rather an enclosed carnival ride. Still, the events that transpired will haunt the complex for decades as nothing worse will even come close. So let's see what happened on the ride to the cosmos.

Know your manufacturer kids...its not just for coaster nerds...it could be really important information
When I went in 2016 the ride building was still there with just gates around it. My wife was asking staff there if the ride vehicle was still inside and they said yes it was. Its like the park just forgot about it and is just letting it rot. I will say its is a quaint little park with Wood Coaster being the highlight, heck... The best wood coaster I have been on. The park is built on the side of a mountain so the climb up is a blip but the views over the South China Sea are beautiful.
And then the metal cage caught fire..."made in China" Sounds about right!
At first I was annoyed he was talking so much stuff and not getting straight to the point on what the ride looked like so I googled it myself and found nothing then I realized he also found nothing okay 😁.
I'm really surprised that after the gondola broke off, it didn't make the ride asymmetrical. Causing further damage + fatalities. Is that a GCI wooden coaster?
Yes it was its called wood coaster and it is one of the best coasters in the world
The ride system sounds like mission space's centrifuge system but without the raising up and down part
Sounds like a knockoff of mission space at Epcot
There were more fatalities on Haunted Castle at Great Adventure in 1984. You should do a video on that tragedy.
I can't think of a tragedy that had more fatalities than that one. Are there any that had more? And that fire had nothing to do with maintenance or ride failure either.
Fantastic Horror, another channel, has a video detailing that story btw
@@RemixedVoice The Sydney Ghost Train fire also killed 7.
I almost feel like that one was more infuriating because it was clearly an accident waiting to happen, whereas this one, while definitely caused by negligence, at least was a very unforeseen circumstance.
@@Nachocuppajo- I love his channel. Great voice, music and facts on point.
3:56 my *favorite* ride!
I saw it spinning clock wise.
The one I have been on spins counter clock wise!
I wish I have one in my backyard because I do have big enough space!
the company that made the ride should've been shut down tbh
Yes but it’s China and regulations aren’t as strict there, reason why the knockoffs exists because they’re able to get away with stuff like this, hell they even have knockoff cars that look the same or identical to American, European, or Japanese cars
6:44 Hopefully at that point the tower hit end cycle or emergency stop or did SOMETHING
Good vid good job
That joke at the start was so fkn dark, but it's also the one I made in my head before it was said lmao
The Challenger lol yeah I thought about that before he said that too
Same
I’m sorry, did you say “in cetera in cetera”? It’s ET cetera.
I’m surprised how many people aren’t familiar with Knight Valley’s incredible GCI coaster here in the comments! Outstanding looking ride! Can’t imagine it has aged well at this park, sadly.
I think China doesn’t have much safety standards then we do and that why it happens
I personally known to people who were severely injured by centrifugal force rides
THEE exit? Only one exit is a fire code violation, maybe not in China..
"greatly underestimated its strength" I think you meant overestimated
yeah I know, I messed up.
The manufacturer greatly *over*estimated the arm's strength.
But love your videos, keep on keepin on
well no ones perfect
@@GreatAmericanCoaster splitting hairs here lol I just can never help myself. Love your content dude, always look forward to your vids
@@tiddlytapestry Thanks :)
DISNEY'S MISSION TO MARS/SPACE RIDE SPIN OFF. EVEN LOOKS SIMILAR
Great video! You're doin a gr8 job!!!
fancy seeing you here lol. i agree with you lol, he is doing an amazing job
Wear and tear of these rides is far more damaging to the bearings and structures than the experts say ? I was never one to enjoy these types of rides.
Isn’t this is literally just mission space at Epcot
Hello, could you give me the background music of the video? thanks ps: interesting video
Bertysolo & Jeremy Blake - Je n'oublierai jamais (Instrumental) And in the aftermath
@@GreatAmericanCoaster thanks a lot
Battersea Park 1972 5 dead and many injured that day I still remember it being on the news and seeing it a few days later.
I lived la few 100 yards from the park back then.
I can't remember the year but soon after the Easter parade people got crushed after the cannon they used to start the event was overloaded and the sound of it sent people running as they thought the IRA had just bombed the place very common back then for the IRA to randomly bomb somewhere.
it should have been tested for days before opening
This ride was cursed yikes
You mean they over estimated its strength. If they underestimated it the arm would have been stronger.
I think in china and japan they call many things amusement parks that don’t have actual rides
If I’m amused, it’s all good.
Why in between scenes are you showing The Beast roller coaster?
Tragic accident, safety second to ride profits
if this video doesn't go viral I've lost faith in the internet
It….. it didn’t lol 😂
I’m sure safer rides like this would last longer
You're brilliant.
we need more uploades low-key underrated
So you really don't know what happened only hearsay
I was born a day before it happened :OOOO
CHINA!
Thank you for keeping the world informed about Chinese engineering fails. Lord knows there's no shortage of them, unfortunately.
Make more videos
I would but college is killing me
@@GreatAmericanCoaster ok
i siad fire ball accident at the Ohio State Fair in 2017 the 18 year old die
At 2:59 you said, "insedera, insedera". Did you mean to say "et cetera, et cetera"?
This video would be ten times better if it didnt use TPR footage
Hi
