Without Side-loading, there is no point to a FireTV device, as you might as well just use your SmartTV's built in App, most now come with Netflix, Disney+, RUclips and Amazon Prime installed as standard anyway.

I am so glad I didn't buy a firetv when I needed to replace my old tv . I had a funny feeling somehow buying one would be wasted $$$ because Amazon would have control over updates whether I wanted them or not ! Yeah there's just something about buying a product for certain features and then the company installing an update unwanted by the owners as if the company still has full ownership of said product . Thinking of buying a Onn cube in the future and hopefully I'll actually have some real ownership in that device .

I pay for various tv networks , if they do stop loading what you want onto them then that's silly of them and probably won't upgrade my firestick for yrs and purchase another device , at moment I pay for amazon and usually upgrade yearly so they would surly be missing out on purchases of firesticks
Amazon is getting carried away with the crap.
Amazon has stopped ADB Debugging which stops the usefulness of apps like mouse toggle. It was the last straw for me. Never buying a Firetv device ever again. Got my Nvidia Shield, my budget Onn box, OTG cables and flash drives for extra storage which meet all my needs.
Still has the option but I guess that's why I couldn't send a file last night to my friends

My current Firestick is terribly slow and buggy. It's a series 2. I need to buy a new one. Which is best for ease of side loading. That is all I will use it for. What is best ad blocker. I am using Adgard but it was so time consuming to set up.

To me, they won't be changing the OS in updates on older devices. I'm not even sure they could change OS Android to Vega OS through an update. I have 2 older cubes, 2 firesticks, 4k max, and a fire tv running in my household. I had 3 of the newer 2nd gen, sold 1 to a friend for backup (for the reason of vega os he was worried about). Took 1 to mom n dad's when they bricked the firesticks. Now I have for backup is 1 newer 2nd gen cube, 2 3rd gen of the brand new cubes and 2 of the new firesticks max 6e. I also have updates shut off on all since they screwed up and bricked firesticks. I am not worried about them trying to update older fire products. Doubt it will happen or can be done. If someone actually knows that they can change OS in update, let me know
What with the price hike for prime, the inability to use mouse toggle (so far). Ove already jumped ship rather put the pennies towards my own media library and freedom to customise.

The Walmart ONN device works great..to side load apps ....and it's cheaper than a firestick

Last night on my fire stick I couldn't get ipvanish to work right none of the third party apps wouldn't work that went on all night and this morning it's still not letting me get into third-party apps

This is why I use chromecast, and just cast whatever I want from my laptop to my tv. I've already disconnected my firesticks and thrown them away. So done with amazon.
i would think most firesticks are sold to watch paid for sbscription apps free so therefor if they dont allow unknown third party apps the sale of firesticks would drop so much it would not be worth to carry on selling them

There's only so much that can be changed remotely. You can't change the hardware. Anything android based will always be open source

They've already DISABLED adb connections to sideloaded apps.
(which has rendered them inoperable).
@@Real_American_DAD they made adb inoperable to local connections launchers and app cache and task killing.
It could follow but again developers need to test application via sideload route. All will be revealed I'm sure Amazon don't want a roku. Roku for the states works UK it useless.

@@Blackdog57 way better and faster than firestick with way more options in the settings. For only $14.88 it's a great deal. Highly doubt that it has malware it's made in Vietnam not China and side loading is spectacular for an iptv app and free movie apks. I haven't heard anyone say that it has malware I highly doubt that straight out the box.
My fire stick has developed a problem and I am thinking of replacing it, now with all the speculation regarding side loading, would it be worth buying the latest fire stick? I have recently watched a video regarding "jailbreaking". Would it be possible with the latest model. Obviously this is just a hypothetical question and under now circumstances would I consider it. 🤫
Switch to the onn TV stick with Google tv wayyyyy better and faster. I just did a week ago.
I have a few Accounts for american t v subscriptions. Hulu and peacock. When I tried to sideload the hulu apk on a new firestick the other day it told me I didn't have the correct licenceto install the apk.

This is exactly why I put filesynced on my android phone. This way I can mirror my phone to my TV and continue to watch whatever I want.

ive moved away now from firesticks the new vega os is linux based so youll not be able to sideload as it wont be android isnt it strange how i dont get audio delay anymore now as well or any other stupid issues like i used to get on firesticks crap os to be fair and the new update even worse. There are far better tv sticks out there eg DColor GD1 wipes the floor with a firestick running google tv a breeze to setup as well and £49 delivered make the move guys you wont regret it i didnt.

I will not be purchasing any more Fire TV devices. I already have a 4K Firestick and the 2nd gen TV Cube. I have just purchased the T95Z Pro with 4gb of RAM and 128 gb of memory for £45 from Temu. It's bloody good and no worries about sideloading 3rd party apps. Goodbye Amazon. 🤪🤪
