      Just because someone makes money from their own ads on any given platform doesn't mean they want any ads during their own experience while using a device to watch videos.

I think for most the whole smart home integration has started to lose its luster. I really only use it for turning lights and TVs on/off. I'm not sure what ads you're talking about tbh...I have three Fire devices...I don't have any ads. UI pics of upcoming shows which I find useful, yeah, but once I go into the app I want to watch content on, I never see an add. You can turn off the audio and video of these program previews anyway in settings, if you find them annoying. Not sure what all the fuss is about. If they ever do get rid of the android-compatible Fire OS, deal with it then, by then there'll probably be tons of new devices out on the market anyway. For now though, for me anyway, Fire is still 🔥.

    Summer is almost here in canada, we do not watch a lot of tv for the next 5 months. We do use amazon music 4 hours a day. We still use basic cable only 25 per month in canada it is a government law. That includes 3 cdn and 4 major usa networks. We still use our 19 year old hd cable box with a dvr hard drive works perfect. Most neighbors use cloud recording which costs extra in canada with our area cable provider. Oh yes we only have 65 mps and all works perfect with 15 devices on wifi. Save money on internet speed do not get caught up in the race to 1 gb speed.

    I agree, a lot of apps steal your information -- and I hate excessive ads on Amazon, Google -- I don't use Apple. You're leaving out the most important reason why Amazon stopped the load of some apps -- it was to stop you from loading illegal apps -- you might not be doing anything illegal - but doing a google search says at least 10% of people download illegal apps... and because of that, Amazon could be held accountable, because they allowed people to download the app from a device they manufactured.

    • @rono4592
      @rono4592 2 месяца назад +5

      If that analogy had any legal basis, then other manufacturers such as Microsoft, Apple, Galaxy, and such would be in turmoil with the law. If you violate a law while using any of Amazon's products / streaming devices, they are not likely going to get in legal trouble. It will be the end user that bears the circumstances of committing a crime. There is no proxy liability.

    • @jokernstuffshy6103
      @jokernstuffshy6103 2 месяца назад +2

      10% I think that’s a little low try about 80% I do not know anybody that has not downloaded a 3rd party of some kind on sticks , there’s a lot of legal 3rd party apps out there just Amazon won’t allow them in there store , best thing for stick = 🗑️🚮

    • @emilymccartney
      @emilymccartney 17 дней назад

      That's completely wrong. Anytime you use software in an unintended manner it negates their liability completely. It has nothing to do with legality and everything to do with monopolistic financial policies.

If it was awhile ago and I was just looking I would of picked up the MSI Cubi M i3-1213U, well 12th Gen for sure for $240 on Amazon, checked tonight and it went up to $260 which then I would have just spent A LOT more and just gotten the Minisforum MS-01 i5 12th version and put Proxmox on it and one of those VM's would be used for a HTPC. As of last night I am just going to build a damn power efficient Proxmox desktop/server.

    People was warned years ago to block Amazon updates on their devices to enjoy an ad-free home screen but many content creators with their scaremongering (FreeTech and Doc Squiffy was the worst offenders) by telling people they must update their Firesticks for security reasons and they're at risk if they don't update them.
    All popular branded Android boxes (especially the expensive Nvidia Shield) have ads on the home screen, so I'm not giving a company money for them to make money of me by shoving ads on my device (aka double dipping).

    Man people whine so much holy hell.. I got prime for the delivery service not their great content. If you’re using a firestick and not using it to its full potential and watching basic content that’s your own fault. Basically he wants you to download 3rd party software but not the kind that unlocks the firestick smh

    There is a youtube tv reviewer very well known who is supporting the use of apple tv as the interface for setting tv specs works great. That reviewer is against inferior streaming that is free but looks bad on qled and oledtvs.

    All these devices that run android are almost just APPLIANCE devices. Turn on and they work. So treat them as such. ---- unless the developer like nvidia shield does upgrades that benefit users.

    Every app on any stick, is stealing, or at least making you agree to use, your personal information. Some side loaded apps might be "much" worse, yes, but its safe to think that all of the apps are guilty, including Amazon and Android.

    Contact providers are allowed to make a living and deserve to. Hes talking about how a Firestick comes with i think 8gb. When you first open it its about 5 then install 2 apps and getting full. Firesticks then increased the adds which took away from our room. I pay them to basically come in my house and put a billboard in front of my screen. FYI youtube will put adds in if you dont. I hate adds and add block but i always support the content providers i use by patron or any option that does not include me paying Google to pay this person. Ok so google takes the 10 and passes along his 2.
    That is like benign the service industry where the owner collects all money, then tells everyone there was 100 in tips and 6 servers, 2 busboys and a bartender. And he gets a 20 off the top for his cut. When tips were 600 that night to begin with. So yes he should put adds in. The company or him will get paid. Google should toss us a bone and open youtube as a thank you for allowing us to become the largest harvesters and re sellers of your information.
