They say that an overheating fan started it but we'll never know.

Can't remember what he said about the capybara but I think he said that the Guinea pigs looked like little hippos, and what looked like a magpie was a 'kookaburra'. Which is hilarious coming from an Aussie.

My uncle in Thailand, I assume visited places like these on the regular would buy exotic animals and release them to the appropriate habitats after checking if they are okay. From what I’ve seen him do are bear cubs, giant python(anaconda type of snake I think), heaps of turtles, mongoose and a couple other smaller possum looking creatures. He usually takes more common animals to the bush and exotic ones to sanctuary’s or temples that’s specialising in caring for that type. Kinda interesting to see where they are coming from!

The sad thing is, 3 weeks ago there was a big electrical fire at that market and so many of the animals you showed died in the fire 😢
As sad as it is, those beautiful creatures were better off dead than living a life of torture at that place.

Yeah only a little part of it burned down a couple of weeks ago.. many animals died, but in hindsight they have now bought out some pretty strict laws about keeping animals.. if that’s any consolation

I hated it when i went there.. Seeing the conditions and the rare and endangered animals.. we saw 2 large savannah cats in a 8ft cage.. we went to film and the bloke got very angry.. good job mate filming this.. Cheers

That big red & gold bird is a red golden pheasant, it's not doing too good either panting in birds is a sign its stressed or is having trouble. Obviously it's stressed by its enviroment but I think it was probably gonna die shortly after, it was even pacing the cage trying to find cooler open areas. PS yeah you're pretty much hitting the nail on the head mate. There is 100s of animals to 1 shopper, they CANNOT sell that many exotic animals, and half of them are big and older. I'd say its about a 50/50 split, foreigners in the illegal trade & the other half is locals trying to buy that animal to breed to capitalize on selling it to foreigners. Every day bro 10s of boats from places like indonesia & thailand get intercepted filled with exotic animals like this.

Looks like the Jatujak market outside of Bangkok.
Most of these animals are purchased by future loving owners.
There are many places to go if you want to ingest some of these animals, this is not what this market is about.
The way they are displayed is always a bit confronting due to the size and expense of renting the space in these markets. It is surprisingly expensive, even by thai standards.

I was shocked to see that some of the shops cared at least a little bit, and made sure the Fighting Fish were actually in water with tannens.
Went to bali,checked out there "pet shops".
Seen multiple species such as green iguanas,palm civets,asian water monitors,snapping turtles,birds but also aussie species such as shinglebacks that were on the verge of death in a fish tank.
And the other animals were living in there own piss.
They dont like to be filmed or photos.. many have signs up and they actually try to charge you if they see you..
Because they dont like the world to see this cruelty

I've been there buying wholesale goods for my shop in oz many times. That animal section is horrendous. I took one wrong turn and could not find my way out of that section. It's huge. I love Thai people but that section is fucking ruthless.

I used to rent my home next door to one of these restaurants and a casino. Bears... leopards... tiger... everything was on the menu. Occasionally they would get raided and pay the piper and then back to business again.
